Very unique take on an updated Sting Ray. Well done.

Oh yes you really nailed this unique Ferrari.

Excellent build on this Monza.

Beautifully built all three. Thank you for sharing with us.

Now that is interesting to say the least. The custom hood looks familiar and it has the rally dash option with stop watches and a 1967 license plate but......? I hope it survives the purple pond OK. Please keep us posted.

Thanks to all for your comments. -
I just opened up the box and while I am impressed with the box graphics and found a nice write up on the Corvette history beside the model. The model itself is kind of a disappointment. The interior is very toy like and the A pillars are quite sloppily painted, oh well those can be touched up.

A couple of weeks ago Snake mentioned his Walmart had a bunch of Motor Max Corvettes. I happened to stop by my local and got 3 surprises. 1. the greeter was handing out N95 masks for free, 3 per customer and 2. while the diecast aisle was almost empty they did have the Motor Max Corvettes and 3. the boxes had pictures of the collection and the dates of the C types. I felt it was my civic duty to buy at least one for $9.97 so I picked up a 2019 ZR1. Sure did brighten up an otherwise gloomy day.

Tony, I think Strombecker was an early (1950s) follower of the JADA school of scale measurements.? -

Surprise – Not a 1966 GT40MKII but a 1955 MG EX-182, a prototype for the MGA. Ken Miles and Jonnie Lockett drove their MG to 12th place in this ill-fated race. The model is a Strombecker MGA in 1/24th scale (sort of). A very simple kit which was issued as a motorized model, using 2 AA batteries. It had posable front wheels and a sticker for the dash. I added Herb Deeks PE wire wheels and tires, a passenger side tonneau cover, plus a few other details like the driving light in the grille and various vents.

Corvette Sting Ray Evolution 1957 – Bill Mitchell, GM Head of Styling, took a tour of Italy. He was especially impressed with the Alfa Romeo Disco Volante (flying saucer) designed and built by Carrozzeria Touring and took lots of photos. Mitchell assigned Research Studio B “young guns” (including that Pete Brock of Cobra and Datsun fame) to pursue his ideas for a C2 Corvette which was to be called the Sting Ray. (Mitchell was an avid fisherman) 1959 – Mitchell Sting Ray racer Mitchell wanted to test public reaction to the design ideas for the Sting Ray. The Automobile Manufacturers Association in 1957 had suddenly banned American manufacturers from participating in racing thus Mitchel was able to purchase the Corvette SS test mule chassis and commissioned the construction of the Sting Ray racer. The Mitchell Sting Ray racer generated a lot of positive attention but was hampered on the track by the drum brakes inherited from the SS. 1963 – The new C2 Corvette Sting Ray split window coupe and convertible went into production with the Mitchell inspired body and a Duntov inspired chassis. Footnotes: Pete Brock’s book – Corvette Sting Ray - Genesis of the Corvette Sting Ray – recommended Models: Alfa Romeo Disco Volante – Leo Models 1/24 diecast Mitchell Sting Ray – Scale Craft Models (Landis and Sposaro) 1/25 resin Corvette Sting Ray – Revell Promos 1/25 Personal attachment – In the mid-1970s I was fortunate enough to own and restore two C2s.

I am really digging your mock-ups, especially the track nosed roadsters.
