Out of my league
Oldcarfan27 replied to AMKinsey76's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
Models are models, whatever material they're made from. If you built a scale replica it's welcome here. Post em where they fit. Cars, trucks, aircraft. There's a place here for all of it. -
marbelised plastic kits

I've got a Johan Maverick that was molded in a semi-translucent blue marble. Unintentional I'm sure, but there it is. Johan was known to use whatever color they had on hand. -
Yours looks better than the box art. Yours is level and on 4 tires.

Don't know where to get them, but those are way cool! Especially the first truck - great detail. -
Not a huge seller, so probably leftover from the run. If you find one - grab it!. No telling when they'll run out.

Can't argue with that. At least he gets them finished! -
Ford C800 Gar-Wood Load Packer. It's Happening!
Oldcarfan27 replied to chuckyr's topic in Truck Kit News & Reviews
Just finished watching the video. Parts look great, not so sure about the operating features. Might need a bit more engineering to make it work reliably. I definitely wouldn't want him to paint my car. Got Earl Scheib quality written all over it! ? Actually, I understand the look he was going for, but rush painting for video would make me tense. I'd rather have the cameras off and take the time to weather it correctly. A workhorse like this would never be babied. It would have grime all underneath, including the bright blue engine. Hydraulic leaks and grease all over the equipment and constant abrasions all over the areas where garbage would scrape inside as it was being crushed. This is a project that deserves a full, no holds barred, all-out weathering job. A truck that has already been on the job for a couple of years and looks like it! If I'm able to get ahold of one, that's what I would be doing with it. No showroom queen! -

I got a quick screenshot of the decal sheet. Not perfect, but you can see everything on it. I even rotated it around so to see what it says. It definitely includes decals for the vents! ? Now, who's going to be the first to build one in purple?! -
Well it’s finally announced.?

I was watching an episode of I Love Lucy where they were in England and she wanted to see the queen. I just realised, they were referencing the same woman! 70 years is a long reign. Three generations and many parts of history. She experienced a lot! Can't even comprehend what GB is like with a King! As far back as I can remember, it's always been "the Queen".

Ever heard of "planned obsolescence"? Case in point. -
People still use stamps?

Seriously, how many times do topics derail on this forum? There's only so much that can be said about a PC Challenger that looks like a Tylenol. Correction: I just went back to the beginning. The comments have actually been pretty consistent through all 11 pages. Everybody has been pretty well behaved and thoughts have been shared across the board - with no riots encountered. Well done guys. I'd say that's a record! ✌ -
Red? I thought it was Sundance Orange. My dad had a 72 Ventura II that was the same color.

Bentely Beluga Black
Oldcarfan27 replied to Mike 1017's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
Well, then they should've called it "caviar black". ? Guess that wouldn't have been very PC, would it? Then again, people who can afford the car, probably enjoy the fish eggs anyway. -

But we don't willingly eat snails either! ?? They also say that people eat bugs when they sleep. Not too sure of that, I've never woken up with bug parts in my mouth! And then, once there's a shortage, what would we do with the disease control and ecological balance that insects provide? Everything is put on this earth for a reason! Did these ecological elites learn ANYTHING at Harvard? -

It is, if you're building a Ranger Explorer package. http://smclassiccars.com/ford/422051-1978-ford-f150-ranger-explorer-package-78-f-150-original-condition.html https://topclassiccarsforsale.com/ford/97739-1978-ford-f-250-rangerexplorer-4wd.html But it's not on an XLT package, which is what I think the kit emblems say it is.

I like the early Honda Civic and the Mister Two. But since I don't see any illustrations for the parts, I'm going to assume they have no engine details. I have had a hankering for some stock 70s U.S. spec imports, but it seems like they tend to "tune-up" them far away from stock configuration and I can't stand the cambered out, rivet flared, boy-racer look that they keep releasing them as. Same goes with the various mini truck kits they make. Would it kill them to produce some of them in stock form? Problem is, many of the cool American spec Japanese cars were once issued - in 1/20th scale! Won't fit in with my collection. I've got an old built up Entex Mazda RX2. Cool car, has the rotary and stock steel-type rims. Still in a box waiting to be restored. If it had been 1/24, it would have already been done.
