For the 440 air cleaner, I cut it as close to the printed part as I could then cut on either side of the "Magnum" text, making two "C"-shaped decals. These conformed to the conical air cleaner with no problem...just a little fiddling to make sure the two halves lined up nicely.

Great looking build! My parents bought one new in '64, flame red with a white interior.

None of the local dumps are "open" any more - they've all switched to the pit w/compactor - but back in the day I had no problem reclaiming stuff. That's essentially what the Craigslist "free" section is, and I've never had an issue with that.

I've actually been trying to track down one of the TKM '81 Imperials, if only out of curiosity. I've built some of what are considered the worst styrene kits, and there's something strangely satisfying about finishing one off. I just make sure I also have a good kit on the bench at the same time to counter it.

Absolutely, thanks for the feedback! It's exaggerated a little by the angle, but I think you're right - I think the supports are about the thickness of the wing too high. Here's a WIP photo after I had shortened them, and at the time they seemed pretty close to what I could find for reference photos:

Thanks! Yes, I think I ended up taking about 14" out of the nose and shortened the wing just a hair.

Thanks! Mike, that's one of my few ventures away from the TV/movie genre...I've done one each of the cars my wife and I have driven, with plans for at least a couple more in the future. One of these days... Here are a couple more pics of the truck. It started life as AMT's '60 Chevy Fleetside, updated to a '61 with the MCG photoetch set and with pretty much everything aft of the cab scratchbuilt. Wheels were from a diecast tow truck, and other details like lights and mirrors were from my parts box. Exact details about 1-ton Chevrolet trucks sold and used in 1960s eastern Europe are difficult to find, so I had to make some guesses:

The R34 was a fantastic looking car and your model really does it justice - nice work! Another option you can consider for future window trim is to use a black magic marker. If you get one with a nice sharp tip, you can outline the windows without much risk of hitting the body (and if you do, it polishes off pretty easily)

Thanks, guys! I plan on having her in ground mode only, though the thought of making a flight mode (or convertible - thanks for the suggestion, Brian!) had crossed my mind. I decided in the end that I prefer the "stealth" look, and anyone who looks under the hood or chassis can be surprised.
