Recommend Acrylic Clear to Airbrush

Tamiya clear works great. -
What did you screw-up today??

At least the Tamiya cleaned up my cutting mat. BLAH_BLAH_BLAH_BLAH super is difficult if not impossible to clean up. -

I finished up what I thought was a really nice 32 ford 5 window and noticed ugly blob of cement on the rear window. After exausting my curse word vocabulary I printed out a little For Sale sign and stuck it over the blob. However some screw ups are not fixable. I knocked over a bottle of Tamiya extra thin cement on a sheet of decals once. It was ugly. -
Maybe it's just me but those cable ends look way out of scale.

What's the Difference Between These Two Clears
El Roberto replied to Miatatom's topic in Model Building Questions and Answers
I know with the Model Master ultra gloss you have to really spray bomb things to get a decent shine. Of course then you have a model that looks like you dunked it into a can of paint. I'd go with the Tamiya clear. -

Since they have discontinued the Model Master paint, wonder if they'll do the same with the cement? -
Tamiya has released a line of lacquer paints (LP) which should be available in the US by the end of March. It looks great in the videos I've seen. Dries fast and very tough finish. I'm going to have to try it, assuming my local hobby shop carries it. Ok by the way, looks like the color selection is going to be a lot better than the acrylics complete with metal flakes.

Hobby lobby and tamiya primer
El Roberto replied to fivesuns's topic in Model Building Questions and Answers
I just bought a can the other day because they didn't have any Tamiya. It seems to be almost identical to the Tamiya but seems to cover a little better. I like it. -
Was the plastic really clean before you shot the primer?

AMT kits suck!
El Roberto replied to Plumcrazy Preston's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
As a mostly aircraft and armor builder I'm a little jaded. Compared to modern kits by Airfix, Tamiya, Hasagawa, Dragon, Ming, etc. most car kits suck. The engineering is sad as well as the fit and details, The Autocar dump truck I'm working on is a perfect example, the part numbers on the instruction sheet don't match the part numbers on the sprue. There are, of course, exceptions. Some of the newest car kits are excellent and I've build some simply awful aircraft models. Yeah, I get the arguments that a skilled modeler can make anything look good, but that's a "skilled" modeler. Why putz around with crappy fit and engineering before getting to the fun part...painting and finishing and weathering. . -
I'm clueless, what is BRBO?

drillbitsunlimited.com These are industrial bits. Keep in mind that while the carbide bits are sharper, they are very brittle.

A model building gripe......I just want to scream when someone builds an ok diorama and the figures are painted with gloss paint. How many pairs of super shiny Levis have you seen?

Don't mean to offend anyone, but most "collectors" of anything are a bit crazy. -
What was the worst movie you saw at the theater??

The Blair Witch Project was pretty awful. I kept thinking to myself: "I wish they would all die pretty soon so I can go home." -
Autocar dump coming this summer
El Roberto replied to brian falcone's topic in Truck Kit News & Reviews
Its a really old kit but everything fits ok and a fair amount of detail but......... This kit has what is probably the worst set of instructions I've ever seen. The parts on the sprue are numbered but the instructions don't show any part numbers at all. On top of that related parts are scattered on separate sprues. The drawings on the instruction are very vague as to where a specific part is supposed to go. It's like a 3D jig saw puzzle. -
Very nice build, but the driver is on the wrong side..................

Looks like it's melting in the middle. Really attractive car..........if you're into ugly.
