Sweet! I like the chop and the overall attitude.๐๐

This is a fairly nice little kit.๐ It is a super tiny little vehicle with an air cooled flat two cylinder engine. I detailed the engine a bit and scratch built some hood and trunk hinges and exterior door handles. Paint is Vallejo red. There are some body fitment issues that I note in my build tread here: https://www.modelcarsmag.com/forums/topic/199788-fujimi-toyota-s800/ Thanks for looking!๐

Well after prying the body off again, I shaved some possible interference spots. I also measured the distance between the rocker panels and also the width of the floor pan. They are virtually identical so there is no way that the body is supposed to โclip inโ underneath the floor pan. So the gaps at the cowl and behind the seats is the way that the kit is designed. If I were ever to build another, I would add some material in these spots before any other bodywork. But it is what it is on this one, so I am calling it done.๐ฅต More pics under glass here: https://www.modelcarsmag.com/forums/topic/200167-fujimi-toyota-s-800/#comment-3015871

Got a headache from trying to imagine that making sense.

You would think we should be capable of building just about any model. After all they are made for kids right? Do any kits say โFor ages 45 and olderโ?๐ฅด That said, I canโt imagine a kid trying to build the Revell โ31 model A with the opening doors and hood with separate little hinges (Iโm sure some of you have done it ๐ฅต) I elected to glue them shut.๐ณ

Catch a fish and give it to someone, you feed them for a day, but if you teach them to catch their own darn fish you feed them for a lifetime.

Yes, I have a few kits that I know are either challenging or just not very good that I really want to make into something nice or special. The Testors/Fujimi Porsche 356B comes to mind. I know itโs a fiddly kit with a lot of parts and I want to do it justiceโฆ.so I am putting it off for a bit. My biggest problem is that I get obsessed with a project and tend to rush things that should not be rushedโฆespecially paint work.๐ณ I know if I take my time and follow a procedure, I can conquer most challenges.๐

Older vehicles have a lot of appeal.

The body would have to drop a fair bit in order for the sills to clip under, but the stance looks pretty good right now.

Well Iโm not happy with the fit of the body/chassis/interior.๐ง Iโm not sure if I screwed up or not? There are huge gaps at the cowl to engine bay, and you can see right through to the ground behind the seats. Iโm not sure if the sills are supposed to clip in underneath the chassis or just be level with it like in this pic? The rear package tray interferes as do the front fender wells in order for the body to sit any lower. The rear window glass would also need some trimming. That saidโฆ.every picture I find on here and on the web seem to have the same gaps to some degree. So I donโt think anyone has corrected it if it is even correctable? I donโt know if the body will then sit too low if I took it apart (not easy!๐ฅต) and did all the grinding necessary to get the sills to clip in under the floor pan. So I think I will just leave it as is unless someone has some insight into the issues.๐

+7C right now and itโs supposed to get up to +17C this afternoon. Might have to take the MX-5 for a spin.๐

Horrible glue bombs can present quite a challenge to resurrect.

The trim and paint finish look great and you did a marvellous job on the wheels too.๐

Ooh! That color looks gorgeous on it! Nice work.๐๐

I got the foiling done and the body and chassis mated. I used some photo etch seat belts instead of the kit pieces. The wire door handles turned out better than I hoped.๐

Amazing how a clear coat brightens up that red!๐ Behind the clear outer headlight covers Fujimi just gave us some flat chrome headlights. I had some spare clear headlight lenses so I glued them in over top of the chrome ones. I think they look a lot more realistic now. I gave the badge decals a few coats of microscale liquid decal film since the guage ones disintegrated on me and managed to get them on with minimal damage.

This blower has one coat of Revell Chrom straight from the can. Not sure how long I let it dryโฆbut then it was dipped in pledge twice. The wheel has the kit chrome for comparison. BMF on the left and Chrom with a pledge dip on the right. More info here: https://www.modelcarsmag.com/forums/topic/181804-revell-spray-chrome-test/page/7/

Fenders or no fenders on a โ32 ford is always a dilemma.
