Nice clean looking build Mario!?The lighting in that fourth picture makes it look the same colour as the one I’m doing. -

Blazer Crew Chief

Thanks Dennis.? I wouldn’t exactly call anything I do a “masterpiece” LOL! I just like to make small improvements where possible. Thanks James! Yeah, this kit has its issues but it will look good on the shelf once done. -
I started this one a while back. I thought I had it prepped well enough, so I masked it and shot the black. Well a big sink mark showed up so I stripped it down and hopefully filled it (and a few others) well enough. While looking at it with better glasses on, I decided I didn’t like the way the vent windows looked. I wound up filing off the bead just above the window and replacing it with some .020” half round. It needed to be raised a tad in order to get the vent window big enough. It should be about 1/3 of the way up on the door frame…not flush with the window opening.? Once that was done the drip rails looked a bit small, so I filed them off too and replaced them with .015”x.020” evergreen. All comments good or bad welcome.?

Well that’s certainly some good progress.? I hope that body cooperates and sits down nice. -
On second thought…maybe just a bit more research before buying. The body on this kit is quite nice, but I’d sure be disappointed if I paid $40 for it.?

Maybe the OP needs a different hobby? Edit: I retract this statement!?

Nice work!? But with that engine in there, those rear tires should be completely bald!? -

Super nice job on that one Scott. The weathering looks great!? -
I just checked the one that I bought off Kijiji. I think I paid $10 or $15 bucks for it? It is not a great kit, but not the worst either.? It is a VERY basic kit with a one piece molded interior and one piece under carriage. Other than that, the kit seems to have a nice look, so I will build it anyways as a curbside. I think the worst part is the instructions. Here is a good thread with lots of input on this kit. Seems it’s pretty well liked.

It’s not really rocket science.? I need some .020” half round for a project, but it seems that .030” is the smallest that both Evergreen and Plastruct offer. So…..I just dragged some .020” round across a sharp file under my finger. I put a sharpie mark on it so as to keep it oriented the same side up for the first few passes. I kept checking it with a micrometer until I was satisfied with the profile.?

Finger nail powder chrome works great
NOBLNG replied to my66s55's topic in Tips, Tricks, and Tutorials
Here is the video. It looks like fantastic stuff. The nail powder part starts at 6:10. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ninpBuzNSxQ I wonder if that “glass finish gel” could be airbrushed on for a smoother finish? And then what to clean the airbrush with? -
Geeez…that bugs me when Guys take up two parking spaces!? But if that was my rig, I’d probably change my tune and do it too??

Yes, I like the 3M 3000 pads. They also make an 800 and 1200 that I know of. -

Don’t give up yet. The kit does have its issues…(I assume it is pretty much the same as the Crew Chief Blazer) but the basic shape is accurate and it can be built up nice. It is ripe for modifying and upgrading if desired. I guess it depends on how bad the warpage is? ?Check out my build thread here: http://www.modelcarsmag.com/forums/topic/158387-blazer-crew-chief/ And Steve’s: http://www.modelcarsmag.com/forums/topic/170661-amt-‘72-chevy-blazer-crew-chief-version/#comment-2565220 And Mark’s: http://www.modelcarsmag.com/forums/topic/170501-125-amtround2-1972-gmc-jimmy-project/#comment-2561958 -
Baking Powder as Flocking?
NOBLNG replied to JollySipper's topic in Model Building Questions and Answers
Baking Powder is completely different stuff than Baking Soda. Edit: Apparently they are very similar ? but different.? You have been clear I think that it is Baking Soda NOT Baking Powder that you use, correct?
