I have one I made years ago like Greg's but a few years ago I bought one of the Tamiya ones and I like it a lot, I liked it so much I just ordered a second one so I can do more than one car and not have to take the first off the stand and it gives me a second parts holder as I got the set both times...

I was in one of our Walmarts last night, they still had some kits but nothing new, I was hoping to see some more of the cases but they didn't have any. -

Masking Tape Leaking -2 tone Paint Job
SCRWDRVR replied to 69NovaYenko's topic in Tips, Tricks, and Tutorials
I worked in body shops for years and use fine-line tape like above, there is also a blue version of it that I am not sure if is made by 3M but it is a little more flexible for those tough corners... -
Not positive but I think they are from this

I learned at a very young age about life being precious and learning from my elders. My father passed at 43 and I was 17 at the time and it really changed my out look on a lot of things in life and one being you learn as you age and you don't know it all at 18. I have always liked when I was at work when they would but me with the older guys, you always worked twice as hard but I always learned twice as much. I remember working on a job with a guy who was probably mid 60's at the time I was 22 or 23 and I was bustin my butt but not using the proper tools for the job I was doing and his comment has always stuck with me as simple as it was he said "boy work smart not hard use the proper tools" I've since shortened it to just "work smart not hard" but its just as effective. I learned a lot from him...

Which Craft Paint Do You Prefer?
SCRWDRVR replied to Miatatom's topic in Model Building Questions and Answers
They are the same 2 brands I have used and I used the Apple Barrel Colors one time. I didn't have issues with any of them topping with Dupli-color clear. Also I have thinned with Windex and once with just water and had no issues, I let my color dry for about an hour after last coat and put Dupli-color adhesion promoter on before I clear. -
Calling all Jeep CJ gurus!
SCRWDRVR replied to Oldcarfan27's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
My Dad had several Jeeps when I was young, my brother had a 72 CJ5 and I had an 81 Scrambler but what I know is limited. I know the rear marker lights when added were in the side of the rear tail light kind of like a boat trailer but I have seen 67, 68 and 69's with out the one on the front fender but I would bet someone put older fenders on them. The fuel cap did move in 72 when they moved the tank for sure my brothers was in the back and had the longer nose however his was a V8 (304). My Scrambler had the dash pad but they were optional when they first started but I'm not sure when they all started getting them. Here is a pic of one of my Dad's, I don't recall the year but it was between '64 and '67 but I don't remember the exact year. -
I wanted to thank Steve (RancheroSteve) for the help on a needed part for the 39 Panel I'm in progress of saving.. Great guy to deal with hope I can return the favor someday...

I came across this hood in a parts box and have no clue what it is from. I’m pretty sure it’s not from any kit I have ever had, anyone know what it’s from?

I do it all in one day unless I need to sand the primer a lot to get out imperfections in fact all 3 in about 2 hours sometimes, many years ago when I was an automotive painter I had a rep tell me I could primer let it tack and put color right on it and it would chemical bond. Of course that was primer and color made to go together like if you were using all duplicolor or something like that.

Thanks Chris, good trading with you…

Not sure if this helps but when you right click on the item your saving on the pop up menu you click save as it should allow you to pick where it goes. I it just saves it then you can change the settings in your browser to have it always ask where to save the files that way you can pick where it goes...

I think it's because they do not pay for size or weight like if we were shipping something as they are doing there own and it allows them to have fewer sizes... Only logical answer I have come up with...

Model Car Muse with Doug Whyte

I need to watch that video when I have a chance, I have a Paasche air eraser that I have had for years, I've always used it to etch glass but never thought about using it for models... -
That has got to be the most accurate answer to something like this I have ever seen. You can certainly learn from videos and questions but you will learn the most by doing. I was a automotive painter for a little more than 10 years and had 3 years of school too but I still have issues sometimes. Best thing to do is practice and learn what to do when you do have issues... That was pretty bad for someone asking for advice...
