  1. Just finished this one up. Pretty happy with how it turned out. My only disappointments are the stance and my trunk lid won't hold itself up like it did in ALL of the mockups. It's a bash of an original '63 promo and a Revell T-Bolt. The T-Bolt supplied the chassis, core support, engine and floor pan. The rest came from the promo. Other kit parts used were the valve covers from a Revell Torino Talladega, wheels and front tires from a Super Clean Olds Pro Stock and the rear tires from an unknown kit. Also a few scratch built pieces. Paint is Tamiya Gun Metal and clear on the body, Dupli Color Bright Red for the engine and interior.
  2. I used a Thunderbolt chassis under my '61. Should fit the '62 just as easily. It was actually less work to fit the Comet than it was to fit a '63 Fairlane. You have to fudge the rearend just a touch to get the rear wheels centered properly. Other than that, it's practically a drop in.
  3. From the time I built my '60 F-100, I wanted the Chevy to go with it. I finally scored a minty example. But, it had Modelhaus resin replacement chrome pieces that looked terrible. So, I snagged the grille, bumpers, turn signal pods, side view mirror, tail lights/housings and tail gate chains from the '90s issue. The biggest task with this model was getting all of the body lines straight and crisp. I ended up losing the door handles in the process. I also had to rework the wheel openings and add a strip of styrene to the tail gate. Under the hood, I added tubs to the inner fenderwells so I could lower the front where I wanted it. The engine is just a hodge podge of parts from the parts box with no details. Paint is Dupli Color Bright Red and clear. Interior is Champagne Gold and flat black. Thanx for checking it out! Any questions, just ask.
  4. Nice looking little Cutlass! That thing would be a handful if it were the real deal! They say pro street is dead. But, I still love 'em!
  5. That's a sharp looking old Chevy truck!! Love the stance on it! Nice work!
  6. Thanx Alan! I had never thought of it that way. But, now that you mentioned it, the influence is definitely there. Maybe this is what a rat rod could look like painted and finished? Thanx to everyone for all the great comments! I appreciate them!
  7. You're welcome! No, I always use styrene. I'd hate to butcher a kit for a piece of the roof.
  8. Nice looking Nissan! The color really makes it come alive!
  9. I did a search also. Turns out, they don't have cowl vents like the '55 and '56. I've never built a '57. I was just expecting them to be there.
  10. Doesn't matter IMO. No one would know unless you told them. It give the underside a nice finished look and that matters most to me. The reason I asked is I have a '68 to build sometime and I immediately noticed it in the chassis photo.
  11. You already know what I like about this old truck! So, I'll just add that I hope to see you do some more builds like this in the future!
  12. That's a good looking old Chevy truck! What floor pan did you use under the cab?
  13. Last update! The interior is done and mounted to the chassis. Engine is in permanent. Once I got the headers glued on, I saw that I had to raise the front end back up. Not happy about that! It killed the stance it had! I changed out the wheels and tires in favor of a set of Alumi Stars from a Super Clean Olds Pro Stock. The body is polished and foiled. I just have to install the glass, mirrors and dome light. Then, it'll be ready to mount permanent. Then, it'll just be adding a few details under the hood and routing the wiring.
  14. That's one sharp looking '57!! Perfect color combo! I noticed the cowl is smooth. Did you fill in the cowl vents also? Nice work!
  15. I don't like police cars. But, I love this model! This thing absolutely kicks butt!! One of the best ideas I've seen in a while! Great work!
  16. I noticed the bucket seats on the sprue. Wouldn't a four door have a bench seat?
  17. They can do factory stock, police or fire chief. I have no interest in this kit. But, maybe it will do well enough that Round2 will consider other possibilities with their kits. A '68 would be a no brainer. Hopefully, this is just a beginning of things to come.
  18. That kit actually had dual batteries. One on each side. So, you could just glue a battery back in that spot as that's where it was. Monogram was famous for that kind of stuff. Their '78 Z/28 has dual washer reservoirs and no battery.
  19. Steve, if I were you, I would search for GM assembly line videos. They gotta be out there. Then, you'll know for sure. I've always thought factory finish on floor pans were primer with body color overspray and a black chassis. But, I'm no expert. A solid black floorpan doesn't sound right as they would have to mask off the entire body to do so. But, Oldsmobile may have done it that way.
  20. No,,it's all styrene. See original post.
  21. Thanx Ron! I may snag one for the hood and engine.
  22. Thanx Dave! I've seen some resin versions done that way and they look all kinds of wrong.
  23. Thanx for the info! But, I rarely use resin and I won't buy anything I can't see first.
  24. Monogram did the Simon and Simon Camaro Z/28.
  25. With my '63 Fairlane and '60 Falcon down to the boring stuff left to do, I started on this. While I'm not a fan of Mustang coupes, I have warmed up to them a bit. I've had this planned for years. So, when it came time to actually do it, I already had my plan in mind. It's obviously the AMT '66 and '67 Mustangs bashed together. The '66 donated the A pillars/vent glass, roof and trunk. The '67 will be supplying the rest except for the engine and transmission. I'm only about four or five hours into it. So, it's still in the rough in stage. I'm pretty happy with how everything joined back together. I did have to add some styrene bits here and there. The biggest pain was adding the pieces around the backlight. Also, I had to lose the door handles and locks temporarily to get the transition between the door and quarter panel right. I may or may not put them back. I want something different for the hood. I thought about the hood with the recesses. But, not sure. Anyone know if the F&F Mustang actually came with that hood? I've seen them built. But, they all had the flat hood.
