  1. That is sharp! The stance is right on the money! I'd like to see a good side photo to see the wheels and profile better. Nice work!
  2. Looks nice! But, the vinyl top trim on the C pillar should be much lower. Google a photo and you'll see what I mean.
  3. That's a fail. If Elon is so smart, why is he putting that type of glass in the side windows? Side and rear glass shatters for a reason.
  4. I have two pro street Road Runners. Both have blank sidewall pro street tires. Not the Good Year dirt track tires like on the box. The '67 Chevelle has Good Year slicks like the '66 Nova. I've never heard them called Batmobile tires.
  5. Nice looking "day two" Chevelle! The stance is right on the money!
  6. Nice work Michael! One of the best builds I've seen of this kit! I still haven't bought one of these kits. I need to get one.
  7. Thanx! Wasn't very hard at all. I just had to half the roof and make it longer to line back up with the pillars. Worst part was adding the windshield frame. If you don't want to lengthen the roof, you can lean the A pillars back. But, I personally don't like that look. Plus, even though the roof is the original length, it looks short.
  8. Nice weathering! What did you use?
  9. I used a Dremel with a little ball shaped router type bit and ground out the backside until I could see the chrome through the styrene. Then, I took 220 and sanded it until the pieces between the bars fell out. Then I sanded it with 400. Really easy. The bars are pretty thick and them being close together actually helps. But, it does take a fairly steady hand with the Dremel and patience. I did all of this while it was still attached to the sprue. I didn't do anything on the raised detail on the bed sides. I just cut them so the detail would line back up. They're cut in front and behind the rear wheel. I did add styrene to the bottom to make them on the same level as the cab.
  10. It doesn't have to be John Deere. Any construction yellow will work.
  11. Even with the warpage issues, this thing is just too cool not to build! I built an original SMP '60 Apache LB a while back. I didn't have the warpage that you do. But, I had to do a lot of body work to get the lines to match up and use parts from the AMT kit to get it decent looking. This project is giving me some ideas for an old custom Chevy pickup!
  12. I originally started this model over seven years ago. Didn’t like the first mockup and boxed it. A couple of years later, I got it on the bench again, fixed my mistakes, hit a roadblock and boxed it again. Last year I got it back out again determined to finish it. I had most of it painted except for the body. I just needed to get in on it and actually work on it. I can't remember every modification. So, I'll list what I can remember. I made a drop in the frame just behind the front axle to get the drop I wanted and drilled the front axle. On the rear, I shortened the frame, cut the cross member loose, boxed the ends and mounted it on top of the frame. The engine is from an AMT '53 Ford pickup with scratch built headers and details. The cab got the floor raised to drape it down past the frame and a 3.5 inch chop. The bed was shortened, bed sides were modified to match the bottom of the cab and I raised the floor. The grille surround was modified to lean back and the grille was opened. Not intended. But, the hood only needed and an additional scale inch in length and openings added to fit. It really ties everything together. Paint is Krylon Ivory and Dupli Color Bright Red. Thanx for checking it out! Any questions, just ask.
  13. This is really cool! I'm surprised it isn't warped worse than it is. Stick with it Jason. You got something really special with this old truck.
  14. For whatever reason, I never think of those snap kits from Revell.
  15. Really nice looking Olds! I especially like the widened wheels with the wide tires tucked in nice and neat. Makes me want to build one of my own!

    1971 Duster

Nice looking Duster Tom! Almost looks like a factory color. Maybe you can replace the decals later with a better set.
  17. Thanx guys, I appreciate the comments!
  18. I don't remember Revell making the '06 Concept Camaro. I remember and have the one from AMT. Not saying they didn't. Just don't remember one from them.
  19. Something that always bugged me about the Road Runner box art is that it has the old wide dirt track tires on the rear. Thankfully, it has the best sized pro street tires there is inside the box. But, they had no name sidewalls. They're not as tall or wide as the M/T Sportsmans in the '70 Super Bee. I never bought the GTX because the box art turned me away from it. Especially with the carburetors, velocity stacks and breathers it has. I'm interested in seeing which tires comes with it in this new issue.
  20. Not a fan of Chargers. But, that is really sharp! Perfect color combination! Nice work all around!
  21. That's a sharp looking Chevelle! I really like the stripes and widened wheels! Those coupled with the color and stance really makes it stand out. Nice work!
  22. That's pretty cool Randy! Looks like the old Testors clear enamel has yellowed over time. I took the roof from one of these and put it on an SS. Never have finished it.
  23. Happens to me quite often. Actually going through it with a current project. I almost boxed it because I had to raise the front end and it ruined the stance. But, after giving it some thought, I came up with a better plan and now I'm looking forward to finishing it again! I have 60 plus projects in different states. When I lose interest, I box them up and let them set. I have one that has set for almost 20 years. In the back of my mind, I know I'll get around to it. Inspiration will strike and it'll be setting there waiting on me. You never know when the inspiration will come around or what will cause it. You may see someone else's project or finished build and it'll hit. This is something that happened to me recently. As I was watching Dennis Lacy's '53 F-100 project, I remembered my '55. I pulled it out with a new plan and finished it. The styles between the two couldn't be more opposite. But, it still got the inspiration going. It had set in a box for 15 years or more. If I had tossed it, I wouldn't now have it on my shelf. I had the right idea. I had just executed it wrong in the beginning. Another plus to hanging on to them is when you do get back around to them, a lot or most of the work is already done. I have many builds that have stalled at one point or the other. When I do finish them, it's just a little more satisfying because I didn't give up and saw it through.
  24. Thanx Don! No need to check. I actually bought that kit. That's the first one I've seen that was 100% complete right down to the decals. When I build it, I'll add the markers to the hood and separate the hood latches from the badges. I think I'll use the bush grille, front bumper (without the roller) and roll cage on this model.
  25. I agree with Carl! I really like the interior color! There must be an issue with those decals. I built one years ago and had the same problem. Maybe age? I painted the strobe stripe on the hood and later used the side stripe decal from the MPC '75 Dart.
