MPC '82 Chevy Step 4X4
Plowboy replied to Plowboy's topic in WIP: Model Trucks: Pickups, Vans, SUVs, Light Commercial
Actually, the cab is the problem. Or the rear of it is. I added. 080 to the bottom of it and got it up right where it should be. I also added .040 to the rear of the bed. It all lines up nicely now. Photos coming. -
MPC '82 Chevy Step 4X4
Plowboy replied to Plowboy's topic in WIP: Model Trucks: Pickups, Vans, SUVs, Light Commercial
Thanx Riley! I'm not planning on it. But, you got me thinking. -
It'll happen Rich. Years ago, I was after a unibody Ford. They always went for way more than I was willing to pay. So, I started bidding on every one I found. I ended up winning three in one month! I got all three of them for less than $50 each shipped. I couldn't believe it!

That's your best bet. By the time you buy a '72 kit and the parts to convert it to a '68, you probably won't be saving a great deal. Then there's the work and time involved doing the conversion. Plus, the different interiors between the two. Be patient and you'll get a good deal. I bought a really nice '68 promo years ago for $80 shipped. Also, don't hesitate to make an offer if available. That's how I got mine. Good luck!

Thanx! The body is an AMT. The rest is from the Revell Foose Cadillac. Wheels are from Aoshima.

I know I shouldn't start another project. But, I've been wanting to build this old kit for a while. It's been in the stash for years! I'm going to keep it simple and just make a couple of changes. No details. Just a simple fun build. First thing, I sanded the body and filled in the cab corners. You can also see the bench seat peeking up in the back window. It's from a Monogram '77 GMC. I opened up the grille. One thing I don't like about this generation Chevy stepside pickup is the location of the step in front of the rear fenders. To me, the bottom of the step should be at the bottom (or close to) the cab like the previous generation. One thing I really like about this kit is the wheels it comes with. One issue is they all four have the locking hub detail. But, that's an easy fix. I'll be stripping them and painting them aluminum. I'm undecided about the roll bar. I don't like them. But, the bed floor has four holes for it to locate to. Suggestions and ideas welcome!

Have to echo what Lee said!

Nice looking little Mustang Dominik! I really like the color on it!

Thanx Ron! It's Tamiya satin clear over Tamiya Pearl White.

Welp, 2021 was no better than 2020 for me. I hate the "new normal"!! But, the good has outweighed the bad and I'm still grateful that things weren't worse. One never has to look far to see folks that have it so much worse than ourselves and our problems become minor. Keep those folks in your thoughts and prayers. Help them if you can. No matter how little it may be. Hoping 2022 is a better year for everyone! Thanx for checking 'em out!

That is a beauty Nick! Love the color! The stance and wheels makes it perfect! Nice work!

'62 Ford Galaxie 500 Update! 12/23/22 Finally Done! Pic pg. 7
Plowboy replied to Plowboy's topic in WIP: Model Cars
Thanx guys! I finally got the old Galaxie in color! I'm thinking I'll just shoot three coats of clear over it and polish it out. I thought about shooting pearl over it. But, I think I'll like it better with just a solid color. The rear window section was a major pain to mask. Luckily, I got no overspray on the inside. While it's drying, I can concentrate on getting the rest of it in primer and paint. I've decided to paint the frame with Semi Gloss Black. Not sure on the engine and transmission. I may just paint it aluminum. -
What car or truck have you always wanted ?
Plowboy replied to slusher's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
I want this. It's the reason I built it. I'd have to sell the farm to be able to afford it. It would almost be worth it. -
WOW!! Those are both excellent models Dominik! I can't imagine doing two builds of this caliber at the same time. Excellent work on these! You should be quite proud of both of them!

Check Ken's Fuzzy Fur. I'm thinking it has the shag look.

Tamiya TS65 Pearl Clear questions
Plowboy replied to bh1701's topic in Model Building Questions and Answers
When I was building my '49 Mercury, a couple guys mentioned that option and had sprayed TS 13 over white primer with good results. I would think the pearl would work as well. The tricky thing about a pearl white paint job is getting it to match. I learned that lesson the hard way. -
1973 Ford F100
Plowboy replied to Gerald Haney's topic in Model Trucks: Pickups, Vans, SUVs, Light Commercial
That is one badassed looking F-100 Gerald! It has the stance, color, everything! I have a '77 that I plan on building in the same style someday. Great work! -
Nice work so far Steve! I can't wait to see you work your magic on this one!

I really like this! If you hadn't mentioned all the different sources of parts, I would have never known. That's a well done kitbash IMO! Great work on this Nigel!

'95 Ranger XLT
Plowboy replied to Plowboy's topic in WIP: Model Trucks: Pickups, Vans, SUVs, Light Commercial
Thanx to the link Bob posted above, I've come up with a plan for the Ranger. I'm going to build it as a concept truck. First thing I did was add the ground effects. For the wheels and tires, I grabbed this set from the Revell '99 Lightning that I had painted for a different project. I may or may not change the color. I'm kinda thinking about murdering it out. I've never done a model that way. Always wanted to. I think will be the one to do it with. I'm not sure about the grille. I don't much care for the lights in it. I may use the stock grille or cut the lights and bar from the custom grille and replace the bar. -

MPC 1/25 1984 GMC
Plowboy replied to Mike C.'s topic in WIP: Model Trucks: Pickups, Vans, SUVs, Light Commercial
They all have that notch for whatever reason. Just fill it in with styrene. I literally just did it on an '82 Chevy I'm working on.- 35 replies

'95 Ranger XLT
Plowboy replied to Plowboy's topic in WIP: Model Trucks: Pickups, Vans, SUVs, Light Commercial
The engine isn't the fitment problem. It's the intake crossover pipe at the rear that was the problem. I only moved the firewall back the thickness of the styrene. I had to do some clearance work on the interior tub to get it to fit. The transmission is in it's original position. -
Cool project Michael! What about using the chassis from the Phantom Vickie? It has one of the best front suspension setups there is IMO. I built a full fendered version of the Phantom Vickie a couple of years ago. I stuck the Phantom Vickie chassis under this three window also. I did switch the rearend out for an '85 Corvette IRS.
