The weekend modelers,
Bills72sj replied to Luc Janssens's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
I have a Hobby Lobby in my town of Salem and a local hobby store probably within a 5 miles of it. I hit them at least every other week. For awhile, price hindered my purchases. Now that I finally have disposable income, if I like the subject, I buy it. When I frequented the Portland area, I swung by Tammie's Hobbies every chance I got. Fortunately, I am at the point where I have 95% of the subjects I want to build. The remaining 5% are original issues that are $50 and up. With more kits than time, it is hard to justify it. When I am at HL there usually one other grayhair perusing the kits. When I am at the LHS there are usually 2-3 other customers but they are there for something else. At HL the shelves are usually well stocked, when they have kits on sale, about every other slot is empty. The LHS is well stocked with a good variety. I have learned to overlook the markup because it is still cheaper than adding shipping to any mail order place. Plus I like to support my local community. Where I am, kits are obviously selling. -
As one who used this kit in my own diorama, I say nice work!

Good to see it. Keep on modeling.

I am a die hard Muscle car fan but the tall 27T is my favorite. Well done on all. -

Mmm, Mmm, Mmm, A lot of mighty tasty builds there. Where did you source the wheels for the Chevelle?

I too know what it is like to have too much work and not enough "life" time. Keep your sanity and fix your life/work balance. Anyone who wants your products will just have to wait.

AMT 1964 Buick Riviera Annual - Box and Instructions

Way cool. Love the decal sheet. -
I love it! I used to own a 1:1 white 71 Ford Country Squire wagon when I was a teenager. It had no brakes and could do a hellova one wheel peel.

Thanks. My Dad used to drag race a 34 Plymouth coupe in the 60's. It had a 331 Hemi with zoomies. -
I agree with all the comments above. Nicely done on all of them.

Quality builds all!

Steve, your quality just blow me away. Consider yourself an inspiration me (and others). Bill

Scratch building half of an engine block. Most impressive. I would have just raided the parts box or gone with the 421 Poncho Parts Pack. Love your build so far. -

Nice builds. I am not knowledgeable of that era. What is the 3 window with the Desoto Hemi? -
As an owner of a number of 1:1 70-72 Grand Prix's I would be interested as well. I think the version that would sell the best is a never released Hurst SSJ version. I have a long neglected WIP of one using a Monte Carlo roof spliced into a promo body.

I agree. Visually the rear overhang it a bit too much. But since you obviously can do body work, you could probably pull it off. It is simply the question if you want to put forth the effort. Since the wheel arches are actually circular, you could cut them in such a way that you could swap them from side to side while maintaining the body line.

I am in the middle of building two of these. One is the 67 GT with a 427 SOHC motor being shoved in it. The other is to be a 67 Shelby GT350 with the small block. The green one was changed to silver. The blue one is still getting the blue striped off. I have been distracted by my 69 Boss 429 build and now my new mini lathe.
