2022 Builds Let’s see them
Bills72sj replied to Pete68's topic in Model Trucks: Big Rigs and Heavy Equipment
I only got two finished this year. (and surprisingly NO cars) Too much life and procrastination apparently. Here they are... -
-
Nice work on the mini tubs. Good color combo.
-
Very impressive throughput this year. You have an eye for the customs that is for sure!
-
Cool rig. What scale?

I work in the skilled trades. HVAC at present, commercial restaurant service, industrial maintenance, cell site construction, wireless communication infrastructure in the past. Mechanical aptitude and conscientiousness are the two main ingredients to my success. Lots of people have suggested that I run my own business. No thanks, too much government taxes and regulations and then there is the HR side of things. I love using my hands AND my brain everyday with no stress.

Nice land yachts. I love those Cadillacs.
-
I like the clear top and the monster tires.
-
Congratz on the awards. Quantity AND Quality. I wish I had time for that kind of progress. (Maybe if I ever get to retire)
-
Cool build, a black Pro Street 40 coupe is one of dream projects.

Mattilackens 2 for 2022, LSX454SS and Cutlass
Bills72sj replied to Mattilacken's topic in Model Cars
Great job on both of them. -
I like that pam-pam rally car. Very unique.
-
Very nice builds. Love the transporter. That would look cool as advertising art on the side of a 1:1 city bus.

Two Reefer Trailers
Bills72sj replied to Rockford's topic in WIP: Model Trucks: Big Rigs and Heavy Equipment
Pretty awesome detail on a 1/32 kit. Don't forget the condensate drain tube from the reefer. You may want to consider a fuel tank too. -
If so, I am in. I find it motivating. Sometimes I succeed and some times not. However, it is nice to have a thread for us Big Rig builds to stop in on from time to time.
-
Very nice builds. I see you have poseable front wheels. Fixed or moving? If moving, How?
-
A friend of mine stops in more regularly than I do. He noticed the trend on his visits. When I started going on Tuesdays, the stock was better. Also, one of the staff later told me it is late Monday if they have the staff available.

BMF under or over clear coat?
Bills72sj replied to Sidney Schwartz's topic in Model Building Questions and Answers
I must be doing it wrong all this time. I future clear after foil. Mostly for the purpose of making stay down. Never had any yellowing issues nor any foil coming loose. -
Very inspirational build. Thank you for showing us what can be done with will and effort.
-
Gorgeous paint work. Nice additions to your display case.

1964 Pontiac Bonneville Convertible.
Bills72sj replied to StevenGuthmiller's topic in WIP: Model Cars
Amazing detail you are adding to very time I stop by. Were the defroster vents and speaker grille molded in the dash or did you add them? I am at the tail end of the console fabrication on my three 65s. The dash is next. I do not think I yet have the skillset to go as far as you have but i will give it a go. Since mine are coupes any boo boos will never be seen anyway. Keep up the great work. I am inspired to follow your example. -
Nice replica. Great color combo with the redlines. I had the privilege of beating on a couple of SS 396 Chevelles in high school. (one a 69 and one a built up 70) both 4-speeds. Fast cars.

I have both a dial caliper and a digital one. They both work well. I tend to favor the digital one as it is easier to do the math when scaling down items. It is also very handy when I print decals to not overlay my artwork when making multiple print passes of individual artwork files on one page.

Spitting cans is why I have given up on them. Since I have so many, I just decant them now. Good luck on your build.
