Ford`s 429 Blue Crescent Engine
Bills72sj replied to 69NovaYenko's topic in Model Building Questions and Answers
Since there are some knowledgeable Ford ID going on here, do any of you know where the engine I used for my 69 Boss 429 Mustang came from? It was in my parts box with no history. Thanks in advance. -

Pulling up this thread made me go look at the one in my stash. It seems I have the 2009 version which I hope has the more gold metallic striping. I too am looking forward to the 2 door hardtop when it comes out. -

Have you tried using Parafilm? With strips of parafilm down you can overlay it with fine line tape then cut around it. Parafilm is awesome because it does not permit bleed under, it leaves NO residue and the edges can be pushed around or down into cracks such as panel lines. You can also leave it on for MONTHS with no adverse affect on the painted surface. One disadvantage though is due to its inherent flexibility it cannot lay straight lines on its own. But a layer if straight edged tape on the to be masked portion can do that for you.

All I can say is WOW! Your painting techniques do a marvelous job of bringing out just the right finish for the part being detailed. And that red is simply stunning! Also thank you for sharing your story of how you got here. It is good to hear recovery stories in spite of all the bad news the media unloads on us everyday.

I am going to utilize the tag axle suspension I got from Auslowe last year. I do need to figure out exactly where to locate it. Maybe all the way to the rear, maybe in between the sliding tandem rack or further forward. I am not sure. I'll know better once some of the other chassis pieces are in place.

Dang! That turned out SWEEEET!!!!

Nice two tone and gloss. You are aware that the rear bumper was an SS only option and was never offered on the Malibu.

The mock up with the sleeper gives the illusion the frame needs to be longer. -

Wow! That looks sweet. I have one of those resin bodies too. Do you have a WIP link so I can see how you did the interior. -
Made my first modification. I was not sure if I wanted to utilize the front bulkhead or not. If I glue it then i can't remove it. If I want it on for display, it just falls over. I could figured out some method of pegging it but I found a better way. I still had leftover magnets from my diorama. I simply added some C-channel to the inside base of the bulkhead and glued magnets to that and the underside of the deck. Now I can take it off without marring the finish or put it on with always perfect alignment. Easy peasy.

Way cool build. The only suggestion I have would be to black wash the grille.

Just had the privilege to read the whole thread. Your efforts and willingness to learn have resulted in an exceptional result. You 1st place award is well deserved.

Very well done. That would be very nice to have on display.
