  1. Thanks for your kind word Jim! I never took the time to evaluate this option since I have a milling machine and a rotary table which are the usual tools for this kind of work. With a lathe, you will have to put the drill bit in the chuck and find a way to index the body in the tailstock... not easy! The rotary table is the way to go based on my limited experience but maybe and very experienced machinist could answer your question better than me? Feel free to send me a PM if you need my help. Take care Francis
  2. Great start Steve, the Pontiac's front chin that you have grafted fits very well and the taillights give it a more modern look! Do you use LEDs for lighting or if these are traditional mini incandescent bulbs like those used by model train enthusiasts, I'm just curious?
  3. Congratulation Claude! I was not aware of this online model show but I am happy to know that your So-Can 32 has been awarded, it certainly deserves the recognition it got! You've put a lot of work on this model and it's a show winner, you've just had proof of it! Please don't forget to post some pics of the trophy if they send one to you. I'm proud of you my friend!!! ?
  4. Glad to see someone else building a '64 D100, I'm in love with this truck! I also have this Modelhaus kit but chose to build one entirely from scratch all styrene (maybe you have seen my thread already?). I made some modifications to the resin hood including the internal brackets but it did not fit my body well so I put it back in its original box, the kit will probably retain its value if no one else is making a new version of it, time will tell... Keep doing your good work Michael, can't wait to see it finished!
  5. Great job Dan! I also planned to by replacement tires for my RAM so speaking of aftermarket tires, do you know if they are for 17 inch wheels like modern trucks or for older ones with 15 inch wheels? Maybe if they are made with a soft enough rubber they will easily stretch to fit the wheels?! Keep us posted, I'm interrested.
  6. Glad to see you on a new project Steve! A Gremlin is certainly not a common build but it will be different and as I have often been told, the important thing is to be different. With the addition of your personal touch, this unloved car will definitely look great I'm sure!
  7. I'm glad to see you at work on the new Power Wagon Dan! I received the engine and suspension kit last week and have to say this is the most detailed resin kit I have ever seen (the most expersive too...)! I have no plans to build this anytime soon, so I will be very interested to see your progress and your opinion on the whole product.
  8. I will Sebastian, I don't want to hijack your thread but this will be the next of my old builds on the list to be posted when I have collected all the pics I can find and have some free time...
  9. I have a lack for superlatives about this one so I hope you get the message: ?❤️?
  10. I can already see the smile on her face... she will love it! ? It seem to be a very nice kit by the way.
  11. First-class build sir, everything was done with great taste! The mix of black, chrome and wood is simply superb! ?
  12. Thank for the kind words Claude! I've dropped quite a few pieces on the floor so far, but luckily I have a large piece of dark linoleum in my workspace, which helps me a lot to find those "temporarily" lost parts... No plan for the head gaskets (HAHAHA) but I plan to make some adjustments to the triangulation to incorporate something as you suggested to me according in our last discussions so I will keep you posted. I'm going to have to do some modifications on the rear part of the frame again, this whole build is kind of an experiment anyway but I cannot ignore the valuable advice of an expert! I'm learning the hard way that the framework is the foundation and you have to be ready to make adjustments when you don't have a specific plan. Fortunately it is styrene and it can be modified quite easily, "fun with styrene" as you say so well! Take care, Francis
  13. Thanks for the pic Ron, it looks like a '72 D100 but it's hard to confirm with the custom grille. Take care, Francis
  14. Hello everyone, The carburetor setup is almost done (I still have the bracket for the throttle wire to do) so I moved on to the "ignition department" and made the ignition distributor out of brass and aluminum. I still have some nice resin pre-drilled distributor caps in my parts bin but I want to make as many parts as possible on my own, so I did the following... I will probably paint the cap in black or blue so it's like the rest... to be determined later! Today's is my last push (I hope...) with the fall tasks, it's hot and sunny today so I hope to be back with more frequent updates in the weeks to come. Take care, Francis Brass ignition distributor cap progress Brass ignition distributor cap final, including 0.7mm Albion brass tube Brass ignition distributor cap final Brass ignition distributor cap final Ignition components with locking clamp Ignition components different view Distributor in place for position only. Sorry for the blurry picture but I wanted to focus on the locking clamp. Distributor in place for position only different view. I also machined a valley on top of the intake plenum to simulate the opening inside the intake manifold when the cover will be in place. Distributor in place for position only different view. Pre-drilled hole for wiring to be done on final assembly.
  15. Very cool car Tim, it looks beautiful with the Warren Johnson decals! Nice set of racing bodies too...!
  16. FANTASTIC build Steve! You add your personal touch on a classic and you nailed it my friend. Tasteful, everything has been done with great attention to detail and the result speaks for itself. Your hard work is paying off, a real head turner!!! ?
  17. We learn something every day... I didn't know styrene could rust but you proved it to us all. The rust has never looked better... Masterpiece!!! ❤️
  18. Simply magnificent Tim! The engine will be amazing (it already is) and it looks like a gemstone in its case when you see it between these two pieces of fabric. Handle with care...
  19. Great job Scott, all the last parts you did are very well made, I especially like the Optima battery. Hope Louie enjoys (but I'm sure he does) having a good personal builder like you to create a true rendition of his real truck! ?
  20. It's a very good job Charlie! The engine parts are absolutely beautiful. It's always fun to watch someone make an engine out of real metal and you do it right my friend! I love these BOSS valve covers! ?
  21. WOW, that's way too cool Luke, the paint job is absolutely superb as other have mentionned. Don't worry about your skills, we have proof of your talent directly on our computer screens!!!
  22. Very nice build Sebastian! The stance is perfect, I love the steel wheels and I'm partial with the black hood with the six pack scoop since I have done the same thing on my '69 MPC Coronet build. ?
  23. WOW Charlie! Absolutely fantastic from bumper to bumper, can be easily mistaken for a real car and is a good indicator of success. I'm ready for a ride if you pass near my house... ?
  24. Thanks buddy, I'm glad to see you back! More to come... Take care, Francis
  25. All the credit for success comes from the effort we have to put in and sometimes we have to work harder than expected but success is even more rewarding. It is not an easy kit to work with (despite the beauty of the subject) but your efforts and your determination are obvious, you can be proud my friend!
