Hey, you're lucky I bought one of the older issues of this kit, otherwise I'd be having words with you buying the last two! xD Be interesting to see the differences between the Lindberg and the new AMT release.

The red roof and white body screams stock car racer, so that's what I'm going with. After sifting through a huge bag of wheels I'm stuck between the painted steels and the Cragars, I think they're Cragars so correct me if I'm wrong. Also trying to decide whether to use the Goodyear slicks on the back or regular like the front. I cut out the number from the decals that came with the AMT 'class of '57 Bel Air. What wheels take your fancy?

Identifying toy car

I wish I knew, but it seems that particular one is extremely rare. I could only find that one picture on Google images, clicking on it just takes you to the site it sold on, probably years ago cos it's not there anymore. The only other toy like it that's close is in the picture below, but I think it's a later product and there appears to be less chrome on the back than what's in your picture. Lol, I feel like Magnum P.I. xD -
The Highway Patrol Oldsmobile looks great. I like the fact you deleted the door trim for the decal, something I overlooked on my '70 Galaxie when I did a Yellow cab. I remember the Syline in WIP, very nice work on the dash and the colour looks just right for that style of car, nice work on that.

It's probably this one, the colour scheme matches with the police logo in the right place, and I can see the badge on the roof just under your hand in the picture. All I could find was this one picture of an old sale , over £300! and it was battery operated. -
Roof is done, it's different but I really like how it looks against the white body. I've done some test fitting of the tub in the body and it fits fine, I just got some fine tuning to do and hopefully it'll look like one piece with the rest of the floor.

What a beautiful build, not much else to say but, wow! Definitely my kind of flavour when it comes to factory stock cars. You done a cracking job on this, very very nice.

Very sweet looking builds, that Thunderbolt looks amazing!

That's a great looking custom, nicely done. Very nice colours.

The Luftwagon is great, I really like what you done with that. I've built the AMT '71 T-Bird, I wasn't impressed when I started but turned out to be a hidden gem, it's a great kit with plenty of potential, and one of my favourites it turned out.

I love them. The weathering you do looks unbelievably real! that's an oxymoron for you! .. and to build that many with that kind of detail? man, very impressive.

Excellent builds, that hearse is to die for! Yep, I said it and I ain't taking it back, xD

Chassis rails are painted, exhaust and axle next. Got the vinyl roof done, it looks blood red! I'm hoping it's not going to be too overpowering when the car is all together. For some reason I thought there was no firewall in the kit (face palm!), anyway, it's made my life easier and will look so much better when I've blended the floors to it, I'm using regular car body filler.

AMT kits suck!
doorsovdoon replied to Plumcrazy Preston's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
A lot of AMT moulds were engineered decades ago, a different time and a different demographic. Take tinplate toy cars of the 30's and 40's, they were fine for the time and there was nothing to complain about. Comparing them to a die cast toy car of the 60's when tinplate toys were still a big seller it's easy to throw shade at the tinplate toys, and for lack of a better word they do indeed "suck" in comparison, but criticising them based on what modern technology is capable of is very unfair. -
Going on advice from sellers online I was told to start with a snap kit before getting into AMT stuff. After buying a couple of AMT kits recently and seeing the difference it was good advice! This is my first truck build which I did for my dad for Christmas. Awesome kit by Revell, the only thing I didn't like was the tyres. The sidewalls were a bit wrinkly in the box and they don't sit nicely against the rims, I had to use some canopy glue to hold them to the wheels, other than that, it basically go's together like Logo.

Very nice. I really like the cab colours. -
Thanks, Håkan. Yes, I'll be asking for a lot of help when I get around to building them! I'm under no illusion of how different and more complicated they are compared to the Peterbilt, but I'm not discouraged in the least, I'm really looking forward to building them. I'll start a build thread in the new year.

Great work on the roof chop. I think deleting the bumper guards would give a cleaner look for this style of build, if that's what you decide. It's going look good however you go about it.

Lovely. The Daddy Warbucks is super cool, I like that! The only Falcons I can find in the UK is the Ranchero by Trumpeter, it's pretty boxy. I've seen builds of them though and it's one on my to-do list for sure.

Looks amazing. I love the colours, the soot marks and weathering on the trailer is perfect! -
