  5. Hi Claude! I will try to send you some of our mild west coast weather. Take good care sir! Cheers, Steve
  6. Hi John, you might want to have a look at McHook’s what if El Camino/Ranchero thread. I did a ‘61 “ Merchero” that you might like. The next build is going to be a Chevy Luv, which I plan to convert into an Elky style. Hoping to start that this week. Thanks for your enthusiasm!

  11. Mark, thanks for starting this thread. There is some fantastic work here guys. I love them all !! I’ll add my three... Modelhaus resin body, combined with 61 Impala chassis. ‘61 “Merchero” Modelhaus kit with Pegasus wheels and tires. Slammer build with no engine or interior. Just finished this one yesterday. ‘66 “Ol Comino” Kit bash of Olds 442 and ‘68 Elky. Thanks again Mark!!
  12. Oh man!!! I love this!! I saw a similar 1:1 car at a local car show years ago, this brings back a great memory. An absolutely beautiful build Oliver. Cheers, Steve
  13. Hello Claude !! Another one of your fantastic builds, I absolutely love your creations sir. The rear 3/4 shot is my favourite, really cool how you mated the two bodies. I need to build a wagon soon... old wagons are really cool. Cheers, Steve
  14. Joakim, I thought the last Volvo was great. This one is just another level, I love it. Proof that pretty much any car looks better with tubs!! Very well done. Keep them coming... Cheers, Steve
  15. Hi all, A few comments first. I have had an Olds phantom El Camino idea rattling around in my head for years, wasn’t quite sure how to approach it though. A big thanks to Jeff Bulmer (gotnitro) for inspiring this build. He did a similar build that is just stunning, and his WIP thread was all I needed to get going. Thanks Jeff !! Another thanks to fellow Canuck Greg (noblng) for coming up with the name that stuck. Thanks Greg !! Thanks to everyone that contributed on the WIP thread, your input was sincerely appreciated. Ok, so this is a kitbash of a ‘66 Olds 442, and a ‘68 El Camino. It’s also my most ambitious body work build thus far. I used the Elky chassis, roof, bed, and 396 engine. The Olds supplied the body, inner front fenders, and interior. A quick summary: - combined the Olds 442 and Elky bodies. - paint is Dupli Colour, BMF trim, Mr. Hobby clear polished and waxed - the 396 has the carbs from a Gran Sport Corvette - engine is wired and plumbed - interior has embossing powder flocking, cup holders in the console, a photo etched Hurst shifter and window cranks, resin seats, seat belts, overhead console, pins for door locks, sub woofer behind seats and a slightly modified dash. - the chassis is lowered, has Pegasus wheels/tires/and disc brakes, exhaust is modified and has aluminum tubing for tips Thank you for having a look. As always, all comments good or bad are welcome. Overall, I’m quite pleased with how it turned out. GM should have built these!! Hope you like it. Cheers, Steve
  16. Hi guys, this will be the last photos for the WIP. She goes under glass later tonight or tomorrow. I had the idea of doing a “power tailgate”. The photo includes my blurry finger, if you look close you will see a power switch inside the box, just push a button and the gate lowers! If I was clever enough, that would actually work, of course here you just have to use your imagination. Next photo is a teaser before the under glass photos. I want to sincerely thank anyone who took the time to have a look at this build progress. For those of you that offered ideas, thoughts, photo shopped photos, and the kind words, a huge thanks, it truly is appreciated. I hope you enjoyed the thread, and if you got this far please keep an eye in the “under glass” section, I managed to get some fairly decent photos this afternoon. Cheers, Steve
  17. Hi Andrew, this turned out fantastic! Very nice weathering and detailing throughout. I followed along on the WIP thread and it is impressive how much work went into this. Awesome build!! Cheers, Steve
  18. Hi Bob, this looks like it will be a great project. I assume the photo of the red truck in your avatar is yours. Pegasus might be a good source for wheels and tires, but I’m sure others here will have some good advice too. I noticed on another thread you were looking for a BBC, the engine that Roger (Plowboy) suggested would be a good choice in my opinion. Welcome back to the hobby! Have fun ! Cheers, Steve
  19. Hi Tim! I must say that I am honoured to have you compliment my build, thanks so much. I have admired your builds since I started in this hobby. It’s not quite complete yet. I should put the finishing touches on it today, then I will get some photos and put it under glass late today or tomorrow. Thanks again for the kind words and for having a look. I hope you will have a look once I get some better photos posted under glass. Cheers, Steve
  20. Francis, you my friend are waaayyyyyyyy too kind. I humbly accept any compliment from you. The hood will indeed always be open, as I stated before, it is nice to know that I CAN close it if needed. I’m already looking forward to the next build, going with a modified Chevy Luv... I really do appreciate your following along here. Builders, (artists) such as yourself have already taught me so much, and inspire me to be better at a hobby that I have been doing most of my life. I won’t ever achieve the level that you masterfully work at, and I’m totally good with that... BUT! I do improve with every build, and absolutely love this hobby! Cheers, Steve
  21. Thanks fellas, you are too kind. A couple of rad hoses should finish off the engine bay. This will be under glass sometime over the weekend. I appreciate you following along. Cheers, Steve
  22. Yep! That is a fantastic paint job Luke. I don’t see the orange peel, looks perfect. Cheers, Steve
  23. Thanks guys, this build is on the home stretch! I will probably do one more post then it will go under glass. Cheers, Steve
