  1. Hi Matthijs, nice to have more international input!! Thanks for sharing your thoughts. Wheels chosen, now just need to play with some colour choices. Thanks, Steve
  2. Hi Sam! Thanks for checking in. I appreciate the input on the wheels. Hi Bill, the body will be Vedoro green, fairly dark colour if you’re not familiar with it. Wheels, probably bronze or maybe magnesium. Thoughts? I think the engine will look great. Hi Nigel, nice to hear from you sir. Sounds like these wheels are winners, I have a few other set of tires to try with them, but it will probably be this combo. Thanks for the feedback! Cheers, Steve
  3. Hi folks, Small update. Not much to show, spent a fair bit of time on parts clean up. As Roger mentioned the door frames needed to be removed to open up the hard top. Still some fine tuning to do, but body work is getting close. I also played around with another wheel/tire choice. JPS wheels with Z06 Corvette tires, I might like these better, maybe because they are different. Would love some feedback on wheel choice, Pegasus or JPS ? I decided to use the BNL resin 454. I’ve had this engine for a few years, and this felt like the perfect car for it. I will likely use the oil pan from the Foose kit, and possibly different valve covers. I raised the front crossmember about 2 scale inches which gave me the ride height I wanted up front. Still need to play with ride height out back. I’m hoping to have the major components fitment issues sorted out by next week. Thanks for having a look! Cheers, Steve
  4. Very nice Elky! Good colour choice. outstanding looking rally wheels, very nice job detailing those. I kinda like the clean look without the mirrors... Cheers, Steve
  5. Excellent tease photo. Looks amazing!
  6. Hi Jeff, yes that was straight from the rattle can. I did a test spray on some spruce first. The darker smoke on the Gremlin wheels turned out pretty cool. I will definitely use this technique again. Cheers, Steve
  7. Nice, nice, NICE!!! This is a super cool phantom Elky. Very well executed Ken, love the colour and decal combo too. Steve
  8. Hi Bob, good progress on this build. It’s hard to tell on an IPad screen, but the colour looks interesting to me. My eye tells me it will look black in dim light, and blue in brighter light correct? If so, my opinion is “really cool”. Clear coat will likely make it pop, and give it some depth. Cheers, Steve
  9. Hi Greg, awesome work sir. Those drive shafts are fantastic, I checked out your tutorial, thanks for sharing. Very nice work all round. Cheers, Steve
  10. Hi Jim, love those Olds curves! Very nice looking build sir. Steve
  11. Hi Nigel, great looking Chevy. The extra effort on detailing the wheels was definitely worth it, they look fantastic. I’m a GM guy, so love it. Cheers, Steve
  12. Go Kurt go !!!! Great looking builds. I have a soft spot for the Sub. As I have said before, I really enjoy your WIP’s, entertaining and always great ideas. Cheers, Steve
  13. Hi Roy, sounds familiar. I was lucky enough to squeeze in a mountain bike ride in the morning, my Sunday morning ritual... I often split my days off between shop, yard work (3 acre hobby farm), and the hobby room. When does spring arrive?!!! Thanks for your interest in the build, hope for an update on the weekend... Cheers, Steve
  14. I’m way late here but another vote for Tamiya smoke. I spray it in light mist coats. 2 light coats... these wheels have about 6 coats... Cheers, Steve
  15. WICKED COOL !!!! The satin/pearl white with black looks killer. Can’t wait to see it complete “The Plowboy way” Cheers, Steve
  16. Thank you Steve! Your 65 is looking amazing, the paint is superb. Hi Francis, small progress is still progress... It’s a busy time of year for me, but I am trying to keep some momentum with this project. The 2 door will definitely be a bit different, I like that. Hi Roger, yes, and thanks for the input. I hadn’t dealt with that area yet, but that is on my radar. Going to do a quick search here shortly to have a look at some 2 door hard top wagons. I got all carried away when the primer came out, it was a bit premature, but I couldn’t resist. Thanks for checking in sir. Sounds like a word to me! I like it. Cool is the goal, hopefully I can pull it off. Cheers, Steve
  17. Turned out amazing Jim! I really enjoy following your builds, entertaining, informative, and educational... perfect combo. That mermaid has the best seat in the house! Cheers, Steve
  18. Hi Terry, I’m wayyyyy late to the party but... For flocking, I highly recommend embossing powder. Paint the area a similar colour to the flocking then I use thinned white glue. My results are not nearly as good as Steve G’s but with a bunch of practice who knows. This is a very ambitious build, it’s looking great! Cheers, Steve
  19. For me, kicker was a game changer. Joints that are cured instantly make custom work progress much quicker. I agree with Snake that you need to be cautious around paint and clear parts. Typically, I would be doing my CA glue work ahead of painting, although....
  20. Thanks Misha. Today was quite a bit of sand and file, but there will certainly be much more slicing and dicing to come.
  21. Ok, managed to have some desk time today. One of those rainy, damp west coast weather days are perfect for staying in the hobby room. I re-assembled the cargo area and fit it to match the rear seat. Obviously, it is too narrow now, so made filler pieces for the top of the side panels. In my planning, I had two thoughts on how to tackle this. It was either add wider inner fenders, or as I chose to do, narrow the whole thing and add top pieces. For me, (call me lazy) this was the easier way to go. I also had to fix a twist in the cargo area. It’s not perfect but much better than it was. I plan on flocking the rear cargo area so I will smooth out the whole area. The carpet will hide imperfections. I couldn’t resist priming the body, it still needs a lot of work, but it’s now a two door! I think it looks pretty cool. Thanks for having a look!
  22. Very clean build. The “grass” is perfect flocking, well played! I need to be brave and try the “paint over foil badges” technique, it looks fantastic. Steve
  23. Nice work Michelle, excellent colour choice. Steve
  24. Very different, and super cool. Steve
  25. If someone told me that metallic green is the best looking colour for a 69 Nova, I would have said, “nah”. Then I saw this, wow, what a beauty! Of course it helps that the paint is flawless. Love this build, very clean. Cheers, Steve
