  1. A bit more progress… Wheels are assembled and painted. They aren’t as dark as they look in the photos, not sure why they look so dark. Tamiya gold followed by 2 light coats of smoke, then a medium coat. Tires are from the spares and have a bit more meat than what came with the wheels. axle needed only minor mods to get the track width right. The engine is now almost complete. The air cleaners even have the K and N logo! I can never resist mock ups, this time with engine in place. Good news is that it has the look I was aiming for, including a full engine bay. The bad news, the engine is wayyyyyy too high, yikes. Since these photos I have played with the motor mounts and have it down a fair bit. I may have to tweak the alternator belt a bit to make sure it’s below the hood. I was hoping to avoid a large hood scoop but… big motor, big hood bulge!! I have a few sizes of cowl hood scoops to play with. Thats it for now, thanks for looking.
  2. Awesome stuff Steven. The parking brake release is probably the first I’ve seen, well played !! One of those, “why didn’t I think of that” pieces. As always, your interiors are second to none sir. Cheers, Steve
  3. Tasty, very tasty. Loving your build style Nick. I’m with Oliver above, I like low !! Great colour combo on this one.
  4. I KNOW, RIGHT !!! Good problem to have. I’m pretty sure (actually certain) that everyone on this forum has a stash of kits that would last for many, many years, even if they didn’t buy another. I’ve got more on hand than I’ll likely ever build, but it’s nice to have variety, and really, you can never have too much styrene….
  5. Thank you Anton. Hi Carl, I appreciate the kind words, nice hear from you sir. I’m hoping that the 2 door hardtop configuration will show off the interior.
  6. Hello Claude !! I was aiming for a bit of attitude with the paint, I think it looks a bit menacing too. Coincidentally, my next project is going to be the same colour, but the overall look will be even more menacing. Having the next project in my head is inspiration to finish this one…
  7. Thank you Chris. Thanks Oliver, this one went together easy, and was a fun build.
  8. Hi Roger, it was interesting that Modelhaus used the ‘59 roof, but as you said it looks right. ‘62 Impalas are one of my all time favourite cars, I do have thoughts of either a wagon or Elky conversion some day. I think I would retain the ‘62 A pillars if I do one. Thanks for looking sir!
  9. Thanks Jim, Hopefully when it’s done you will approve the “shiny” !!
  10. Couldn’t agree more, Luke is doing some very nice surgery here. Super clean Seeing triple R tackle one of these will be fun, I will watch for your whip too sir!
  11. Thanks Bob, it’s been slow going on this build, hoping when it’s all done it looks the part. Hi Joe, I don’t have any comparisons as this is the only forum I’m on, but I couldn’t agree more. This is a wonderful community of extremely talented builders that are always more than happy to share their knowledge. I have learned a lot in the year that I have been a member here. Thanks for checking in, for the kind words, and for the reminder of what a great forum this is!! Cheers, Steve
  12. Small update, I don’t get much desk time during the summer. I am very inspired by all the amazing builds and talent that is on this forum. Thought it was about time to assemble the engine, obviously not complete, but it’s started. The valve covers and intake are body colour, the gold block is approximately what the wheel colour will be. I used a pre-wired distributor, the fuel rails are aluminum tubing. Fuel lines to be added later. Not going to get carried away with details beyond that. The chrome Moroso letters on valve covers were done with a Molotow pen. BMF for top of intake. Hope to have the engine complete next week. I spent time sorting out the ride height and painting most of the suspension parts. Nothing particularly photo worthy there. Next up is assembling the wheels and getting the track width dialed in so I can assemble the chassis. Sounds easy enough! Thanks for having a look.
  13. Well…. You made that look easy didn’t you. Bed looks great. I’m going to have a look for one of those tools, I’m pretty sure I need one of those!
  14. Nick! I agree with Josh’s comments above. Love your builds sir, all stunning. This one adds an element of sinister in all black. Keep ‘em coming… Cheers, Steve
  15. Hi Nick, absolutely beautiful build. That black is fantastic, interior is very nicely detailed. I like low!! Just recently saw another build or two of yours here, need to have a second look. I like your style. Cheers, Steve
  16. Hi Dennis, crisp job on the foil, looks fantastic. Must have been a great podcast, and a really good drink to pull that off in one go. You’ve been kind enough to share your paint “recipes” with me, how bout the drink recipe?! Seriously though, that paint job really comes to life in the sun. Great looking build all round. Cheers, Steve
  17. Hi Jim, fun idea and well executed. Both trucks look great… I was going to say “clean” builds, but Bigfoot ain’t so clean! Cheers, Steve
  18. Thank you Steve. They made some great stuff. I’m working on number 3 of 5, I managed to sneak in just before the cut off for orders. I hear they are very expensive online now. Thanks for the correction on the engine, messed that one up…
  19. Very nice, clean build Bill. That colour looks great on it. Coincidentally, I just saw the 1:1 version of that exact car this weekend. It was red with black interior in pristine condition, the owner had the dash face sent away for Carol Shelby’s autograph just before he passed.
  20. Thanks for the comments fellas. Much appreciated.
  21. Luke, this is going to be wicked !! Awesome start, brilliant planning for the roof cuts. I as like low, so I’m in for the ride… I’m guessing black for the body colour! Cheers, Steve
  22. Hi Russell, this is a great looking project. The stance is perfect! I have both of those kits on hand, you are providing some inspiration… Your paint work is always flawless, those colours should look killer on it. Tucking the exhaust up into the body is a nice touch, polished aluminum tips? Cheers, Steve
  23. I’m a bit stalled out on a current project, so thought I would post a build from a few years back. I was lucky enough to get a handful of Modelhaus resin kits before they retired. Coincidentally, the stalled project is also from Modelhaus. Kit bashed the Modelhaus body with a Lindberg ‘61 Impala chassis. Wheels and tires from the parts box, wheels tinted with Tamiya smoke, LS engine from the Wagonrod kit. The resin interior was modified with the addition of a console, seat belts and the Lindberg dash. Engine has ignition wires and fuel line. I added a parts box hood scoop and fabricated a bed cover. Paint is Tamiya TS100 semi gloss gunmetal with flat clear. Gloss red stripe in the side spear, BMF trim, and a carbon fibre decal for the bed cover. As always, all comments welcome, thanks for having a look.
  24. Bingo! I would recommend taking a red sharpie to the whole blade. As others have said, light pressure on the blade too. It is definitely one of my least favourite parts of building, but rewarding when done.
