Forgot to mention the front grill is perfect. I never liked the kits custom grill options either. Your version looks spot on to me.

Dennis!! Very nice mods to “modernize” the 60’s custom treatment. I have this kit and have pondered which route to take, custom, or classic, you’ve made that decision easy. This looks really cool and super smooth with the tweaks you made. Can’t wait to see it in paint, speaking of which....colour? Great to see you tackle something from the 50’s, how about something from the 60’s next? Pleeeeeease. Cheers, Steve

Here’s a twist from one of my previous builds, I was quite pleased with how it turned out. Metallic red with flat clear.

Beautiful build Teijo, that colour is perfect! I saw a 1:1 hot rod in an almost identical colour a few years back, I still plan on trying to replicate the colour on a future build. Thanks for sharing. Steve

Hi Roger, wheels look outstanding! The whole thing looks great. Cheers, Steve

Steve, your work is absolutely amazing. Your builds have inspired me, especially with more attention to interior details. I’ll never build at your level, but my builds have benefited from yourself and others on this forum. Thanks for sharing. Oh... I would love to see you do a full rip pro touring car, you know, just to be different.... Awesome to see your builds in print in the magazines, as the others said, very much deserved sir. Cheers, Steve

Wow! Nice work Bob. I can relate to the angst over those first cuts of a rare and valuable kit. What a cool build this will be to replicate the family car. I’ll be watching. Cheers, Steve

“Joker Is Wild” - AMT / Revell 32 Roadster Kitbash for DSC

Stunning paint Jim !! Should look killer cleared and polished. -
Really like where this is going Tom. That green is sweet. I did a curb side ‘66 in Bahama blue with the tinted chrome and think it looks great. I’ll be following. Cheers, Steve

Hi Bob, it looks good. Honestly, it would definitely shine a little more with a polishing kit, (3600-12000 clothes, then Novus) but that’s not for everyone. Black is a tough colour, not very forgiving... that’s why I only have one black car in my display case. It will look really good if you leave it as is. Enjoying watching it come together. Cheers, Steve

Awesome stuff as usual Roger. I like the idea of semi gloss silver. Tamiya’s TS 100 semi gloss gunmetal is a fantastic looking colour. I have used flat clear on Tamiya silver leaf which very nicely replicates cast aluminum. A recipe that Dennis Lacey very graciously shared with me. The semi gloss should look cool, as you said, if not hit with gloss clear. I need some of that dull red, it’s a perfect colour for red interiors. Should be an awesome colour combo. Cheers, Steve

Hi all, time for a small update. I’ve been a bit busy, (and a bit lazy) so not a lot has happened. However, today my paint arrived!! I found a cheeky way to get paint delivered from U.S to Canada, sshhhhhhh, don’t tell anyone. I am inspired to get going again. There was a fair bit of sanding, filing, fitting of chassis and body. Have it almost sorted out. The body has given me fits. I will need to spend some time to get the twist in the body straightened out a bit. I shortened the firewall: The engine is cleaned up and primed, I just need to decide on colours now. I take plenum will almost for sure be body colour. I have already decided on which colour but for the sake of conversation... left spoon is Vedoro green over black, right spoon is Vedoro green over silver. First photo in sun In shade... and inside under a light... The colour looks more the same in photos, there is a fair difference in person. I would love some feedback on colour choice. Now that I have the body colour paint I will start playing with wheel/engine/interior colours. There will almost certainly be some gold or bronze. Hoping to gain a bit of momentum to get this build finished. As always, comments and input welcomed, and thanks for having a look. Cheers, Steve

Hi Roger, I am a huge fan of the T’s and agree about the staggered size, and painted spokes. (See below) I’m going to go with the second set of wheels to be different. Still playing with some tire options, as I agree that the rears needed to be a pinch taller. I had been thinking grey or green for the interior but gold/champagne are definitely strong contenders for accents and interior now. Thanks for sharing your opinion, much appreciated indeed! Cheers, Steve

Foose Truck Overhauled

Ver nice Phil !! I always learn something from your builds... As always, very well executed sir. Cheers, Steve -
Looks great Gareth, I have been thinking about trying the “paint over foil” technique. What did you use to remove the paint, a toothpick? As the others have said, the colour looks fabulous, nice work! Cheers, Steve

Nice choice for the next build Bob. One of my all time favourite bodies, oh, and I like pro street. I will be watching sir. Cheers, Steve
