  1. Hi Mike, nice to see a WIP from you sir! You are off to a great start. This is my favourite T Bird body style, so I’ll be watching. I don’t have the experience, or skill of Claude, but I too had a great result with the Mr Hobby clear. That’s my 2 cents! Now you have 4 cents!! Cheers, Steve
  2. Hi Derek, thanks for the input on the glue. I was quite curious about the clear. This is a great looking build, I’m enjoying watching it come together. I’m about to do a search on your wheel choice, I like those! Cheers, Steve
  3. Hi Claude! I might do this exercise again once body is in paint… As I’ve said before, I ALWAYS appreciate your 2cents sir. I figured the shrink story was real, and also interesting. Designing a car is as much psychological as it is visual. The 300’s had me hook line and sinker, and in my opinion, they have stood the test of time. Francis! Ya, I think it looks sweet as a 2dr. Thanks for checking in my friend. I still sneak over and drool on your Dodge. You have set the bar incredibly high. Hi Chris, thank you for the kind words. I appreciate your honest opinion on the scoop, I figured there would be some that didn’t like it. Hopefully it will grow on you once she’s in paint… Hello Carl, good to hear from you. Thanks for chiming in on the wheel choice. Cheers, Steve
  4. Hi Russ, thanks for checking in sir! I appreciate you sharing your choice of wheels. Hello David, thanks for the compliment on the bumpers. I must admit, the wheel choice is not going to be quite as easy as I thought. Final choice will come after the body is in colour. Thanks for your vote!
  5. This is going to be really cool build. LOW! I love it… awesome stuff as always Jim. Cheers, Steve
  6. Hi Steve, amazing work as always sir. That chassis is a work of art. Some of the “cleanest”, “dirt” I’ve ever seen, some words that wouldn’t normally make sense in that order. Cheers, Steve
  7. Hi Bob! I love the 61-62 Impalas, my dad owned a 62 back in the day. As much as would have loved to see you “tub it”, the Foose wheel/tires look outstanding on it. Keep it low!! The mocked up stance looks killer. Cheers, Steve
  8. I’m 95% decided on wheels but… I thought I’d show the three choices I have and see what you guys think. Body colour is going to be flat charcoal grey, any remaining trim will be black. The front “bumperettes” needed some massaging. I want them tucked in flush with the body. They are stick further because I shaved down the raised area just below. In the photos driver side is modified, passenger side not… The recess the bumpers fit in was longer on the passenger side than on the driver side. So after finishing both sides I filled in the recess to match bumper. (No photo) Thanks for looking, and I look forward to hearing opinions on the wheels! Cheers, Steve
  9. Hi Misha, I agree about the proportions, they look perfect as a 2dr. The scoop is intentionally forward. I played with a few locations, placing it forward added to the aggressive look I am after at the front. The door handles might stay shaved, haven’t got around to that area yet. Thanks for your interest and comments. Thanks Carl ! Hi Anton, yes, and it looks even more so as a 2dr. Thanks for checking in. Hello Claude! I don’t know if that’s a true story, or if you’re messing with me, but I like it and it makes sense to me!! Hours of fun with styrene right!? Thank you David, that means a lot coming from you. Hi Phil, thank you sir. I would guess you’re right about that. It was good to see you last week. Thank you all for having a look and commenting.
  10. Yes sir !! That looks perfect Roger. Well played. That engine looks like a seriously tight fit under the hood. Cheers, Steve
  11. Hi Mark!! Haven’t checked in for a bit, this is really looking awesome. Outstanding work as always my friend! The colours are absolutely perfect, engine with splashes of body colour is a nice touch. Of course your world class weathering ties it all together. Cheers, Steve
  12. Moving along… I filled in the exhaust recesses at the back as I will have side exit exhaust. Did a bit of “fine tuning” on the window frame areas, added the splitter, and installed the hood scoop. I knew this would look pretty cool as a 2dr, but it’s actually even cooler than I had expected. Still a fair bit of sanding to do, but it’s starting get the aggressive look I’m aiming for. As always, thanks for looking.
  13. Hi Claude!! How are you sir? I did consider the hard top, but the opening without any pillar looked too long to my eye. However… as mentioned, I am definitely doing another one of these as a 2dr HT, but I will shorten it somewhat, and likely a subtle chop. I actually don’t know why I like these cars so much, but from the first time I saw one I liked it. I think they have stood the test of time… Not sure exactly what treatment the next one will get, but rest assured, it will be LOW!! BTW, I ALWAYS appreciate your 2 cents. Thanks for checking in sir! Now, back to the desk… Cheers, Steve
  14. Hi Sergey, I don’t look at this part of the forum often. This sir, is an absolutely incredible build. I work in civil construction, and have been around heavy equipment all my life, it took me a few photos to realize that it was a model I was looking at. Simply perfect!! I have not looked at the WIP yet, I plan on doing that this weekend. Be very proud of your work, it is stunning. Cheers, Steve
  15. Hi David, absolutely beautiful build sir. I need to buy one of these “land yachts”. They have beautiful lines. Very nice clean model. Cheers, Steve
  16. Thanks Bob!! Hi Jeff, thanks for checking in, I appreciate the compliment. Hi Chris, I agree. I think they always looked like they had a mild chop, but it seems more pronounced in 2 door configuration. I have another idea I’m going to play with that might exaggerate the chopped look even more. Thanks for having a look. Cheers, Steve
  17. Hi guys, small update. Its officially a 2dr now. Bodywork is still a little rough, but getting close. I used a strip of styrene rod to fill the channel where the chrome trim would have gone. Small filler pieces were added to the top of the B pillar before re-attaching. Front and rear bumpers are glued on. These are going to be blended to the body to eliminate any seams and add to the smooth look I’m aiming for. Hoping to get more of the fine tuning done on the body today, glue the splitter on, and get another coat of primer on it. I have found a hood scoop that I really like, just need to massage it a bit then attach. Not sure what you guys think, but the relocated B pillar makes a dramatic change to the look of the car…. I like it! I already know that for sure I will build another one of these using the other idea I had. Two door hard top, shortened behind the front door by about 8-10 scale inches. Probably a slight top chop as well. As always, all comments welcomed. Cheers, Steve
  18. Yup! That sums it up. If someone told me they were going to make a “cool” Taurus… ya right. But you nailed it as always Roger. I have 2 questions: did you try smoke on the headlight/ taillights or just go straight to the black. I ask because for my 300c build I plan on doing smoked lenses, but they may end up black. I will experiment on my own, but curious if tried smoke first. For the body script did you do the “paint over foil” technique? Keep the cool builds coming sir, I truly enjoy them.
  19. Thanks for the kind words David, much appreciated. I sometimes wrestle with what progress to share, and what is just flat out boring. I try to find a balance, I know how much I enjoy following others trials and tribulations, and of course the final results. Cheers, Steve
  20. Haha!!! I love it. I saw that beast a couple of days ago, sorry I haven’t left a note there yet, I’ll do that tonight. But I will say here, I love that car. Your builds inspire me, so I’m glad I could sort-of return the favour. I did size up the Foose Caddy wheels, they are a touch small for the 300. I did source another set though, and I think they will be “the ones”, mock-up to come… Thanks for checking on sir, I think this build will be right up your alley. Not sure if you ever saw my ‘41 Chev truck. I built it about 4 years ago, metallic red, with flat clear. I get many compliments about the paint on this one. Cheers, Steve
  21. Hello David, that’s what I figured. You’re on the same page as me, my first thought/choice is no handles, but I am going to play with a Tesla style handle to see what it looks like. Thanks for chiming in.
  22. Thanks for the encouragement Anton. Thank you David, got a ways to go yet, but I have a vision… Cheers, Steve
  23. Hi Misha, the aluminum has been “on hand” for MANY years so not sure it’s origin. It is backed with thin plastic on the back side. I would say it is similar in thickness to flashing, but softer. It gives a really good edge to trim against without fear of slipping. After “sleeping on it” going with my original plan of no side trim. As I made the filler piece, it gave me the thought of a smaller trim piece looking good. The picture in your response is still the main influence for my build. As for filler, still using Tamiya, the only issue I have had with it was on the Impala wagon, and I believe it was the “hot” paint that caused the problem. So hoping no issue this time, fingers crossed! Still not sure on suicide doors, I will wait until I have new lines cut, old door lines filled and primer on it. Thanks for checking in. Hi David! Yes, I believe it is technically a splitter, wasn’t sure what language to use there. As mentioned above, there will be no side trim, which to your point, will keep the smooth look I’m after. Door handle decision will wait for now. The Kindig style is the flush mount, similar to a Tesla? I ask because that is one of the looks I have in my head. Thanks for your input, it is always welcome sir.
  24. Nice looking combo! Thanks for sharing the recipe Anton.
