Struggled with what to do with the AMT 007 mustang. Found inspiration online...some testors yellow, part bin wheels and tires and as much of the alternate race stuff I could use out of the kit along with a set of Logano fusion decals; and here we are.

Cant wait to see how you add the dead bugs 😆

I'll try this one more time but here is my take on this. The floor pan that the fenders are attached to is to far forward on the chassis. Looking at the instruction picture, and your picture, the floor pan needs to move back (as can be seen below) -

Well Its' done. Or as done as it's going to get. Just notice the door handle is a little cattywampus. I'll fix that before final posting at year end. Otherwise it's all done and I actually finished one this year.

Is it me, or does the picture of the 1/64 truck look like a resized photo of the model with a couple of pieces missing? Not that it matters, just a weird observation from my weird brain.

Your body is fine, your axle is fine, your fenders are too far forward. I don't know the kit well enough but I am guessing that however the fenders are supported should sit farther back on the chassis.

Some projects end up better for me waiting. I figure out a new way to doing something or a different approach that in the end results in a better project. There are times I have learned a new skill or seen a new technique or found a new 3D printed accessory that I have said, that would work great for that ______ I have going.

I have on occasion, drilled out the gauge face, printed an image of the gauge, affixed it to a thin piece of plastic and glued it to the back of the dash. The image has to be good enough quality that it can be sized properly without getting all blurry. I usually use photo paper as it stands up better if I want to put some kind of clear to replicate the "glass" over the gauge. I haven't ever done this with square gauges but with the right drill bit and a small file should be doable.

I found some colored clear pencil pouches that worked pretty well. The plastic was flexible so I could bend it to curve as I glued it in. It was just thicker than I wanted it to be.

A 3D printer. Don't get me wrong. In the right hands this thing would be great. I however, ended up with a resin tub that leaked and dumped liquid resin straight down into the machine. While cleaning it out I broke the screen. While installing the new screen I cracked that one. Eventually got the thing back up to where it kind of functioned and never got another decent print out of it again. It is sitting in a cabinet in all of it's sticky resin residue glory.

Thanks. As I remember I think they are almost all Reaper/Bones miniatures. The Scooby gang was a 3d print I did before I destroyed my printer. I always use brushes for miniatures. I tend to want to brush more and more car parts now because of it. I will usually brush paint interiors almost entirely. Definitely slower but more enjoyable for me.

We have similar paths. I started with cars. Then went heavy into military models. I started painting military figures with artist oils. Then discovered gaming miniatures. Never played but love all the fantasy and creepy stuff. Ended up building a whole Halloween village full of mini dioramas. It got too big to display so it has been boxed up for a couple years now. I definitely learned different skills that carry over into car modeling. Here is a few of my little beasties that I am going to have to dig out and put on a shelf.

Nice to see that others have eclectic building tastes. Our guest bedroom used to have the same thing. Then we moved and gained a bedroom. Now the "hobby room" is full and I have started taking a select few builds to the office.

Reminds me of the time I detuned my jeep to where it would barely run in order to pass emissions test. The next time I painted a coffee can black, put some random hoses into it and screwed it to the firewall to mimic emissions control systems. Passed through both times.
