I based the color on an R4 on a Youtube video. Not an exact match as they weren't painted a pearl but close enough that I thought it looked good. Thanks for your comment.

Worse car I ever owned was a Renault LeCar, the next gen after the R4. I recall it was amusing to drive but a real maintenance headache. Thanks for the nice comment.

I recently finished the Renault 4GTL by Ebbro. My first Ebbro kit and I quite enjoyed it. Everything is reasonably well engineered without much in the way of flash. They do have an unusual approach to the side glass as it is part of the interior door cards and must be masked off for painting. I used BMF for the masking and could have done a better job. I made a total mess of the windshield glass. While attempting to outline the windshield glass frame with a black enamel paint marker I smeared paint on the windshield. While trying various methods to remove the paint I made a horrible mess of the windshield that ultimately I had to sand and polish to make it useable at all. Apart from the glass mishaps I very much enjoyed the build. I wired the engine and added an ignition coil; most of which is difficult to see as the hood opening is limited by the front bumper! Paint is Tamiya TS-60 Pearl Green. Interior carpet is black embossing powder and the seats are decals included with the kit.

I really enjoyed the show when Tony Angelo was hosting but I think they've hit on a really good combination with Alex and Lucky. A young female that is a real gear head and driver along side Lucky the old school male California hot rodder. The two have established a great working rapport in front of the camera without any contrived drama. Incidentally I love the Plymouth Savoy, what a cool hot rod! If they keep doing interesting projects the show should do well.

I believe the Windex sold with labeling that describes it as "Original" is the stuff you want. I think the Windex products that are NOT labeled with "Original" on the package do not contain the ammonia that promotes the paint removal.

It's out of my area of experience but would be interested to see what you do with it.

Bill, You suggest using a fine fiberglass. Would this be of the sort one might find used structurally in radio control aircraft? Great looking Chevelle! Andrew

Certainly not a criticism but I do agree with your comment that the stance would have been better with the back even with the front. Having said that the build looks terrific. Love that smooth black finish and the matte aluminum......excellent hot rod!

I have had decent results with embossing powder but since it was a gift I can't comment on the cost effectiveness. I'll be interested to see your results.

Very nice work and congrats on the well deserved award. One of the things about this forum is people won't laugh at you. There is a wide range of model builders here, from those that can build museum worthy masterpieces to those of us still struggling to make a decent job of an out of the box build. It's a community of people enjoying a hobby and are very supportive in promoting the hobby and helping others. Looking forward to see what your next project might be. Having said that, there are a number of people here with a great sense of humor!

Very nice build! I always enjoy your work. Sure, maybe some of the fine detail work is hard to see on the finished product but like the insides of a fine Rolex watch, you know it's there. ?

I would suggest going the easy route and using Tamiya clear sprayed straight from the can. In my limited experience the Tamiya clear has no issues over Tamiya paint and produces a very nice finish. All the other approaches sound excessively complicated though I respect the fact that many people work out systems that work well for them.
