  1. A very cool high quality build!
  2. Can't say why but I've always had an affection for drag cars that were a bit unconventional in their power plants. This one is very cool!
  3. Really enjoying your efforts to make this authentic period correct. Keep up the great work!
  4. Sure looks good to me! I have this one in the stash and it is working its way up to the front of the queue. Can you comment on some of the problems I might encounter with this kit? Thanks, Andrew
  5. The car looks terrific as do all aspects of your presentation of the model!
  6. I really like how your painted trim accentuates the shape of the body. One cool dragster!
  7. Echoing what Ace said......an excellent rendering of one of my favorite drag classes!
  8. There’s a very good chance we were in the Philippines at the same time. Though I never made it to Clark we were in and out of Subic Bay many times in that 1972-1976 time frame.
  9. Andrew McDermott US Navy 1972 - 1976 Electricians Mate Petty Officer 2nd Class (E-5) Served aboard the USS Turner Joy DD951 stationed out of Long Beach and San Diego Did 3 WESPAC deployments including time in combat zones in North and South Vietnam at the tail end of the war. As is the nature of deployed combat vessels we travelled extensively in the west Pacific, Indian Ocean and the Persian Gulf.
  10. In response to the original question; currently I'm neither. I would have to describe myself as an assembler that hopes to continue to develop the skills to consider himself a builder. As for collector, nah. I've never seen the point to collecting stuff just to have it though I suppose a well themed collection can have historical and educational value.
  11. Stop it! You're killing me! Even though I'm reading this 6 weeks late. LOL
  12. I'm not sure I understand this post but what a classic photo of denizens of the New York avant garde scene of the late 60's.
  13. What irks me today is what a bloody waste of time being sick with COVID is!...........or any illness for that matter.
  14. The black interior is very convincing! I'll have to give this a try. Thanks for posting!
  15. True hot rodding where effort and ingenuity made up for the lack of big bucks. You nailed it, great job.
  16. Very nice! I don’t know how you manage to turn out such a great looking model in such a short time frame!
  17. Nicely done! I built this a few years back when I first started building models as an adult. In some respects it is a bit fussy and difficult but builds up to, in my opinion, a very nice looking model. Yours turned out much nicer than mine which currently languishes in the back lot awaiting repairs or perhaps transformation into a hot rod. I am seriously considering a second box stock build as well now that my construction skills have improved enough to hopefully do the subject justice.
  18. I have a body that I would like to polish prior to clear coat. It doesn't need sanding and I don't want to risk taking off high spots. I am considering using Tamiya polishing compound and wondering if it leaves a residue that would cause problems with then putting on Tamiya clear coat. The only useful info I have on the Tamiya polishing compound is that you can wash off excess compound with water. I'm thinking a good water bath after polishing and prior to clear coat, any thoughts or experience with doing this?
  19. Outstanding looking and remarkable engine detailing.
  20. Welcome to the forum. Very impressive build and I look forward to seeing more of your work.
  21. Nice collection ! Hope '24 is a productive one for you.
  22. I particularly like the '62 Chevy! Brings back some fond memories of my youth.
  23. Very nice work. Keep it up in '24!
  24. It doesn't appear that your 20 years away from building hurt your skills any! Very nicely done and unique with the lighting.
  25. Quite a diverse collection of well built models! Hope '24 is equally as productive for you.
