  1. Good looking engine! I'll be keeping an eye on this one.
  2. Love the clean custom look and impressive paint"…..that acid rain lends a unique appearance to the model!
  3. Actually the wheels were an interesting challenge that is pretty much resolved. Broken parts, my lack of familiarity with resin kits, and the amount of prep and modification involved to turn out a reasonable model all contributed to my decision. Bottom line is I should have started this thing a year ago and avoided the surprises and resulting stress. I'll keep on working on the kit but I am not convinced I would have something ready for the March deadline. I thought it only fair to give somebody else the opportunity to model Clark's #59.
  4. This looks like a fun project that's off to a good start. I'll be following this one.
  5. I apologize to the group but I am withdrawing my #59 Lotus Cortina entry. The build is not going well and has gone back in the box. Hopefully it will see the light of day eventually but for the moment I am not having fun with it and if you aren't having fun then a hobby turns into a chore. If somebody else is interested in doing Jim Clark's #59 the entry is now open. Good luck......and I do look forward to continue watching this thread and learning from the posts of the many skilled and experienced modelers.
  6. One sweet looking little hot rod. Well done!
  7. Thanks Gary, good tip on the boot ends!
  8. Very nice build. Some of the most realistic spark plug wiring I’ve ever seen. How did you do the plug wire boot ends?
  9. A classy ride nicely modeled! Is this a Tamiya kit?
  10. Nor can I explain why I like the 2002 so much......but I do. Your model provides an excellent rendition of an absolute classic. Well done.
  11. Hi Noel, Yes I am attempting the Motor Museum in Miniature Lotus Cortina. This is my first resin cast kit so it's something completely new for me. The kit is a curbside so no engine. I think it's the nature of resin kits to require lots of clean up and prep work but the detail seems pretty good. While I've not done any measurements to confirm that all the proportions are correct I don't see any obvious flaws in the body shell. I posted some pictures of the kit bits on the "Sebring 12 Hours 1964 proposed group build thread" on page 16. Hopefully this link will get you to that page: http://www.modelcarsmag.com/forums/topic/174307-sebring-12-hours-1964-proposed-group-build-thread/page/16/ I have ordered a set of the Motobitz wheels that I think are appropriate for my build. I would be interested in seeing your build progress should you be inclined to post any pics. Andrew
  12. Love your enthusiasm and creativity and the skills to back it up! Great to see you back at the bench and I'll be following along with this one.
  13. This is my second Ebbro and I agree that they are very well designed. I have their Citroen in my stash and looking forward to eventually getting it in the queue.
  14. Thanks for all the nice comments! I need to remember to dust models before photographing them!?
  15. Man I hate warped frame surprises but you seem to have dealt with it very effectively. I too love that body style. Very nice looking hot rod.
  16. Very nice! I really like that clear blue over silver.
  17. Excellent rendition and craftsmanship. Any comments regarding kit quality or issues during construction? I think I need one of these.
  18. A recently finished kit. Essentially OOB . Very enjoyable build. My second Ebbro kit and I've been impressed with the quality though they are a bit pricey.
  19. David, I have the Tamiya Super 7 and measured the wheels as being a scale 14". I'll have to check my measurement again, perhaps I made a mistake. They are a very nice wheel. Thanks for the feedback, Andrew
  20. Phil, Great looking wheel and tire combination.....just what I'm looking for. Did a quick search for the AMT Tiger but those available online are absurdly expensive. I've sent an inquiry to Motobitz and hopefully will get a set of wheels from them but I'll keep looking for some fat vinyl tires that might look like race tires from 1964. Thanks for your feedback! Andrew
  21. Matt, This looks like what I've been searching for! I've sent an inquiry to Motobitz and awaiting a reply. Thank you! Andrew
  22. This is a repeat of a question I asked in the 2024 Sebring thread. I got a couple of useful answers there but thought I would pose the question to a broader audience. I am in search of some 13" steel wheels and tires for the 1/24 scale Lotus Cortina I'm working on. It's a resin kit and the wheels are wrong for the Jim Clark Cortina I'm trying to replicate. Any advice on a source of wheel/tire would be appreciated. I'm trying to avoid having to do some major surgery (lathe work) to swap out wheel centers which I fear with my lack of lathe experience may end up as a pile of chips on the floor! Andrew
  23. I appreciate the ideas and advice Bill. This is starting to look like a real challenge. I do have access to a Sherline lathe but very little experience turning anything on it, no time like the present to try and learn to use it. I'm thinking maybe I can turn the rims out of the kit wheels and swap in the rim centers from the Lotus. This is going to be an adventure ...........
  24. Thanks Phil but unfortunately I'm not a Facebook person and couldn't find Gerry Chevalier.
