Really nice result! As mentioned in the WIP this one defeated me in the alignment of the under the hood wheel wells, radiator, etc, etc. but you seem to have got her done. Of course some of my problems with the kit were self-inflicted LOL. Overall you've come up with a very convincing result!

Spinning the fan with an electric motor.....how cool! I've never seen that done and look forward to following this build.

The chassis is looking first rate with your color choices!

I will definitely be following this build. The depth of knowledge and attention to detail displayed by the various participants in the discussion of the build just blows me away. What a treat for a novice such as myself to watch and listen to such master craftsmen at work! I have this kit in my stash and expect my generally out of the box build may well be improved by what I learn here. -
Looking good! Very nice color combo and foil work.

Very nicely done! I have this kit and planning to use it as the basis for a couple of projects I have in mind. I have discovered the frame for the roadster version is warped so I have in mind to scratch build a replacement. We’ll see if that ever comes to fruition. ?. You appear to have overcome the challenges of this kit and produced a couple of great looking models. While I expect old Henry Ford might not have approved of your color choices I think they look great.

Beautifully done! The level of craftsmanship and sense of what looks appropriate produced a truly believable scale automobile.

How big is your... stash?
Andrew McD replied to Pierre Rivard's topic in Model Building Questions and Answers
I have primarily been building out-of-the box the past 3 or 4 years as I attempt to develop my building skills. I have done a little bit of customizing and detailing but most builds are essentially OOB. Having said that I have some scratch building and kit bashing ideas I hope to have a go at in the near future. Presently the stash is 38 kits not yet started. It’s an even split with 19 American Street Cars and Hot Rods, and 19 Foreign and Sports/Race Cars. I have included American built Sports cars in the second group.A number of kits have been purchased because I have been impressed with what people on these forums have done with them. Typically I buy kits that I consider an interesting subject as opposed to impulse buying because something is on sale. The vast majority of my stash is Revell with 17 out of my stash of 38. Tamiya comes second with 6, AMT 5, Fujimi 4, Ebro 2, and Heller, Lindbergh, Moebius each with 1. My one resin kit from Motor Museum in Miniature rounds out the stash. -
I still have this one unfinished; it's back in the box. I had a very frustrating time with components lining up under the hood. Frankly, it was a bit of a nightmare that I just kept making worse. I'll be interested to see how it goes for you. Best of luck and considering your other builds I expect you'll do a fine job.

Has anyone tried this in their 70's?

Huh, what stogie, what ashtray? My 4x magnifier is in the basement on the workbench. ? -
Love the detail you're putting into this project. I recently acquired a Sherline lathe, just like a real lathe but very small.? I have almost no machining experience but hope to learn enough to make us of the lathe as a tool in model car construction. Do you have any advice or comments on turning plastic on the lathe? I assume very slow speeds to avoid melting the plastic.

Save on sandpaper AND have precise control.

Very clever! A simple solution to a problem I frequently encounter. Thanks for sharing it. -

Splendid job! -
One of the things I loved about that period in racing was that it wasn't uncommon for drivers to be in F1 one weekend ,driving a sports car in the Targa Florio the next weekend or racing a saloon car in an endurance race. A time when drivers were still allowed to be human beings rather than marketing devices.

The Lotus Cortina has arrived from the UK. I will attempt to turn this into a reasonable representation of the #59 that Jimmy Clark and Ray Parsons drove to second place in class in the '64 Sebring race. I've never worked with a resin kit so this should be interesting. For that matter, most of my builds have been pretty much straight out of the box so trying to do a reasonable representation of an historic race car is going to be something new and different. I will appreciate any and all advice as the build proceeds. I've also never done a build in progress online....oh yeah, jumped right in the deep end.? We'll start with some pictures of what came in the box. It's a curbside so we've got a body, chassis, and some bags of parts to flesh it out and make it real.

"this was more of a test run to have a feel for the kit." Clearly you got a good feel for it! Beautiful work.

Nice detailing of the engine and the paint looks terrific.
-
I quite like the dark engine color. How did you heat the chassis to straighten it? I attempted to straighten a Foose Cadillac warped chassis with a heat gun and the results were somewhat less than satisfying. Your Lambo is looking great.

Looks great sitting on the trailer. Well done!

Your lego crew did a terrific job as did the video producer!

I've had this one sitting on the shelf since last Christmas when my daughter gave it to me. I've recently moved it up in the queue of models to start and will be anxious to see your progress.

Very convincing and beautifully executed.
