  1. Thanks Phil but unfortunately I'm not a Facebook person and couldn't find Gerry Chevalier.
  2. I've finally started work on the #59 Jim Clark Lotus Cortina. Being this is my first resin kit I'm finding it's going to take a LOT of prep work to get this thing assembled. The basis for the build is the 1963 Cortina Mk1 kit from The Motor Museum in Miniature. No doubt I'll be leaning on this forum for assistance and ideas. The first problem I'm in need of help with is finding some 1/24 scale, 13 inch, 4 lug, steel rims. The kit wheels are wrong for the #59 as it raced at Sebring in 1964. Here is a picture of the wheels I need. Here is a picture of one of the kit wheels overlaid on a photo of the #59. As you can see, that spoked kit front wheel is wrong for the vehicle I'm trying to replicate. I've done some internet searching and haven't found an appropriate wheel. The closest I've come is the 14", 4 lug, steelies on my Tamiya Lotus Super Seven. Close but no cigar! Does anybody have any idea where I might find an appropriate wheel and tire? All comments and ideas appreciated. Andrew
  3. Beautifully done!
  4. I have this kit and also planned to paint the exact same color. It won't hit the workbench anytime soon but I'll certainly be reviewing the great work you are doing when I get to mine.
  5. So often I get an idea for a further enhancement but end up leaving well enough alone. I think you reached that point regarding the white roof. ? I am impressed how good the body looks after all the work you went through stripping the Tamiya maroon paint. I have found stripping Tamiya lacquer to be a challenge at the best of times. The red you laid down looks great! I'll be following along as this build progresses.
  6. Thanks, I appreciate the feedback. I've just started the project.....and now to find an appropriate set of wheels........
  7. I realize this thread is a couple years old but can you provide a link to the youtube video that you referenced for the modifications to fit the larger tires? I'm just starting this build and what I have envisioned will include some larger lower profile tires than the originals. If my effort comes anywhere near looking as clean as yours I'll be ecstatic!
  8. You make it look so easy; the mark of a truly skilled craftsman!
  9. Your work just blows my mind! Awesome is a much abused descriptor but appropriate here!
  10. Very cool! Is this the Atlantis kit? Any issues with the build?
  11. You pointed out the problems with the build but the end product is excellent! Well done.
  12. A proper gasser! You've really worked out a great painting system as your models consistently have great looking paint. This is one beautiful model.
  13. You're right, you can't make this stuff up; it takes a lot of work and perseverance. Excellent story and some fine looking cars!
  14. Beautifully detailed and great choices for the colors throughout the car. Really impressive! I have this in my stash and am looking forward to having a go at it myself.
  15. A real beauty!
  16. I just ordered this kit and looked at a few online videos and was surprised to see the wheels protruding so far beyond the fenders. Will trimming the metal axles allow the wheels to tuck under the fenders or will suspension components be in the way?
  17. Thank you to all for your comments!?
  18. Yet another subject I need to build- inspiring work! The quality of the build and the photography make it impossible to discern that this is a model and not a 1:1 car!
  19. I always had a passion for the Corvair I think because they were ‘different’. A neighbor used to give us a ride to church in her Corvair and let me operate the stick shift as she drove….a real thrill for a car mad 10 year old! Very nice rendition of what I always felt to be a very cool car. Going to have to see if I can find this kit.
  20. My error which is now corrected.?
  21. My version of the Revell '49 Mercury custom. Createx pearl green clear coated with Rust-Oleum Painters Touch 2x Gloss Clear. Tamiya buff and flat white interior. Initially I thought I might go with the full custom skirts and lake pipes but I decided I really like the look of the wheels/tires and opted for a milder custom look. The build is strictly OOB. Everything fit very nicely and there were no issues that I didn't bring upon myself. Perhaps someday, way down the road when my skills progress beyond kit assembly, I'll have a go at actually chopping a top.? On completing final assembly I concluded that I should have painted the package shelf buff instead of white. Here are some iPhone photos from the workbench. Wow.....weird how you can work on a model for so long and never notice that some of the parting lines you thought were well taken care of still show up when the model is photographed. .......and I should have dusted prior to photography?
  22. Love all the color choices and the detailing of the engine compartment. Impressive flame job; a real hottie on the Fourth of July!?. I'm currently building the same kit which I'm quite enjoying. Though I've not managed to incorporate as much detail work it's still a satisfying build.
  23. Is there an English language version of the website please?
  24. Fascinating, I'll be following.
  25. It may have fought you but clearly it's a battle that you won. Beautiful car stunningly rendered!
