Thanks for mentioning this Bill as I've attempted to approximate the '65 engine color with limited success. Never picked up a bottle of the Model Master engine blue (for the '66 and later engines) when it was available so will have to continue to experiment with that one.
Overall, a very good-looking build. The engine bay has excellent detail and the wheels appear to be blackwashed nicely.
I'm guessing the gold paint is TS-21? I just finished painting a '65 Impala and the issue I had when using this color was the metallic particles smearing when I didn't apply the TS-13 in light coats. After stripping the finish the repaint turned out much better with light applications of clear.
Great looking build and color for that year. Nice detailing on the rear tail lights with only the horizontal lines being highlighted. That's something I have to correct with my next '66 GTO.
That built up beautifully Mario. I have one of these kits and have put off building it due to the fitment issues you've described. Now that I understand what assists in the final assembly process I'll be more eager to build the kit.
That build looks beautiful and in a well suited color. What base did you use under the TS-58 and was it clear coated? I've used this color in the past and while it's looked nice, I much prefer the look on this model.
Thank you Carl and David. The trim lines on this model are molded very cleanly and makes for easier foiling.
Thanks Roger, I've taken quite a liking to this red and with it have done a few models.
Thank you Al, Phillipe and David.
How did you modify the pick? I like the part about no wandering outside the panel lines. I'm comfortable scribing most panel lines but the more tightly radiused corners do pose a challenge for me at times.
