  1. Exceptionally clean builds and great work on the belt line trim on the '66. The mid-sixties were the best era for the Impala.
  2. Great detail work throughout the build. I've never used Mica Silver over TS-54 but I like the look it provides.
  3. Thank you Cliff
  4. Great looking color Jim on a very nice clean build.
  5. Thank you Anders and Gerald. Thanks Roger, I did what I could to improve upon a simple snap kit and I wanted to keep it period correct. Just have to do some additional work on the taillights with my next one.
  6. Wow, I never saw this one when it was first posted. That paint job looks fantastic.
  7. That's a real eye-catching build. Great work.
  8. Thanks Albert, I definitely trying for the period look with the paint color and vinyl top. Thank you Bill, David, Jeremy and Ken.
  9. Thank you Al, Chris and Tom.
  10. Great work on a very sharp looking model. Being a big fan of green cars this one truly stands out to me. Don't ever recall seeing a build here in that color but definitely would like to get a can for when I started spraying cars again next spring.
  11. Very nice work and you did a fine job with the decals. I don't have this kit yet and it seems to be a very nicely detailed model with good fitments. I've always liked the '71 and '72 front end styling.
  12. Thanks Larry, David, Mike, Craig, and Lee. Thank you Steve and I realize the Colonnades were not everyone's cup of tea. Personally I like them and many of the GM offerings from that era even if the performance was down. Thank you Trevor. I continue to work on improving not only my builds but also my photography. Thank you Glen, Mike, Bob and Jim. I think a Cutlass from this era is always worth saving. Thanks Mario. This one definitely required additional time as all of the panel lines needed to be scribed and the tail lights required extra work. Overall I think it is a good representation of the 1:1 despite some inaccuracies.
  13. I picked up this 1/25 scale Johan Cutlass S as a built but unpainted model. It has been painted in Tamiya TS-58 Pearl Light Blue and cleared with TS-13. I've used Testors Glosscote over this color in the past and preferred the way it looked. But the TS-13 works better for me since I'm able to wet sand and polish it more aggressively. A section of the rear taillight divider was missing on one side, so I removed the remaining one and foiled the perimeter. I'm still not entirely satisfied with the detailing of the taillights, but I do have a couple more of these kits to see if and possibly how I can improve. The engraving on the trim that spans the lower trunk area wasn't very well defined so I sanded it smooth. I cut a strip of .020 styrene the same width to represent the trim and four small pieces to represent the lights. I then foiled the entire section with the matte side of some household foil. There was a degree of brittleness to the plastic as the steering wheel had to be replaced with one from the AMT '69 Chevelle and the drivers side A-pillar cracked. The durability of the plastic concerned me since I have a handful of the old Johan kits and they all commanded a bit of a premium.

    That is one beautiful Mustang.

Very nice build and I really like these Camaros in more understated colors. Great work on the front grill.
  16. Great build and such a nice factory look with the color combination.
  17. Paint color looks great and it is a very nicely detailed model.
  18. Always a stunning build and the TS-13 is such a great clear. I'll make a note of the very attractive racing blue, a color I haven't previously used on a model. Also of note is the black dash with the tan interior, a combination I haven't used in the past.
  19. Paint and foil look great. Haven't seen too many of these built so it's nice to see.
  20. Great looking Chevelle and I'll have to look around for that color since I don't ever recall seeing it at my local auto parts stores.
  21. Thanks for mentioning this Bill as I've attempted to approximate the '65 engine color with limited success. Never picked up a bottle of the Model Master engine blue (for the '66 and later engines) when it was available so will have to continue to experiment with that one.
  22. Exceptional paint detail and obviously many hours of effort went into building this very one of a kind model.

Overall, a very good-looking build. The engine bay has excellent detail and the wheels appear to be blackwashed nicely. I'm guessing the gold paint is TS-21? I just finished painting a '65 Impala and the issue I had when using this color was the metallic particles smearing when I didn't apply the TS-13 in light coats. After stripping the finish the repaint turned out much better with light applications of clear.
  24. That paint work looks absolutely superb.
  25. That's the finest example I've seen yet of that model. Great detailing work throughout.
