Yeah the seat belt print is sweeet! Do you have color printing capabilities (the tech is out there) even so the build base does make a convenient way to hold the small parts for painting.

Marvel's Hydra coupe 1/12 scale full scratch build
Big John replied to François's topic in WIP: Model Cars
It is easy to lose site of how really massive the car actually is even when compared with the Bentley. -

Yeah, the front fenders are looking good now! -
I can't remember when I last used a 35mm film camera, so all the above photos were shot with a Canon PowerShot A610 with built in zoom lens. And only has 5mega pixel processor. good enough for what I do now days.

Spectacular detail pretty much covers it! Do the seat belt buckles actually work? Thank you so much for sharing!

That's It! The 16 exhaust pipes are simply a ruse and are really for thermal venting of the Flux Capasitor and Quantum Hyper Drive! -
Hi Curtis, did you ever get a part to copy? I can bring you one at the NNL next week.

Handling Chrome Paint
Big John replied to Horrorshow's topic in Model Building Questions and Answers
so I gather that sealing the chrome paint with a clear coat such as Future will work. ? Not ready for experimenting at this time... Has anybody tried metalizer or alclad sealer on the revell chrome? -

that's the thing about trying to copy Movie cars, the engines really aren't what they are supposed to be. Even Professor fates car in The Great Race (had three different cars for various stunts) used a corvair engine in some of the variations. You have completely free reign in your design. -

When you mentioned an airplane engine I naturally thought of a stretched Rolls Merlin, but as you've pointed out it has to fit the envelope already established. And a masterful envelope it is. -

Better late than never... I had the opportunity to meet Chris at an NNL West show when I had several of his Indy cars on display. He was always excited to see his customers builds. One of my favorites the Miller 91. -
Paint coming off after sanding with high grit
Big John replied to hkisthebest's topic in Model Building Questions and Answers
Hopefully you are wet sanding to keep the paint from building up on your paper. Once paint starts to stick to the paper change paper or you will just mar the paint surface. Wash down the model to remove any dust that will act as a resist for the following coats and keep them from sticking. Repeat. -

W16! are you sure you have the firing order correct? Kidding. May I submit, for your approval, 3 engine options? 1932 Cadillac V16, a Miller inspired OHC V16 such as in the Stutz Blackhawk LSR, or an Auto Union GP V16. The Cady looks pretty Evil. -

You may have mentioned before but, what brand/Model printer are you using? Were the U joints printed as a unit? I understand that they are doing that with enclosed gear box's now. -

Yes Autodesk has outrageous leasing prices, which is why Ive kept my earlier versions on an old EXP PC that is never connected to the internet. There are other options such as Rhino that a co worker swears by and has reasonable pricing options, I think Solid Works has similar options too. I am jus not sure if I want to learn a new program. Yes, compared to the Bentley the Hydra is Massive, but totally befitting a Super Villain's ego! -

Big John replied to François's topic in WIP: Model Cars
Hi François, are you still planing on using some of the Rolls parts in this one or will it be a total one off, not that there is anything wrong with that. Great stat, wonderful reference material! A friend has Rhino and swears by it. My ACAD 16 has limitations but not sure i want to do the switch. -

AH, I was really looking forward to the pink and white scheme. How about a white top half to go with the wheels? -
