How big is your... stash?
Pierre Rivard replied to Pierre Rivard's topic in Model Building Questions and Answers
So I have a stash of 15, then I find 5 more hidden away...for a grand total of 20! I was wondering if it was a bit insane doing this but I hear numbers like 200, 500, 1000 and Mr Van the big winner at 5000+ You guys are great. Now I know I don't have a stash, I only have an emergency buffer. I now know I am completely normal although a bit deficient in stash performance. The wispers in my head saying Airfix Bentley, Tamiya Lotus 79, Gunze Cobra Daytona, NORMAL! The eBay siren chanting my name, NORMAL! I'm canceling the therapist, thanks to you guys and guess what I'm doing with the money I just saved? -
In my short (7 years) "career" I have completed about 30 builds. I used to buy, build, buy, build but lately it's evolved into a buy, buy, build, buy, buy, buy... I now get it when I read from you guys about "THE STASH" So here's my modest stash. I do plan to build maybe 12 of the 15 on the pile, starting with the one at the top TOMORROW! How big is your stash and your split between "I will build it" and " why did I buy this" ?

Airfix Bentley Blower in 1/12
Pierre Rivard replied to maysula's topic in Other Racing: Road Racing, Salt Flat Racers
It is a gorgeous build Thomas. Glad the thread resurfaced so I could see it. Your 1/12 builds are always a joy to watch with the beautiful finishes and well crafted detailing. -
Ferrari 250 GTO / Pontiac GTO-powered
Pierre Rivard replied to Ace-Garageguy's topic in WIP: Model Cars
Hey Bill, any more work done on this GTO engined GTO? I've been looking at these Gunze Sangyo GTO kits and hesitated and chickened out and got the Fujimi kit. Now I look at what you did on the Gunze body...and it looks really good! -
I had missed the post of your completed build. Awesome achievement. The car is magnificent.

Not so much an OOB anymore is it? Your upgrades are very nice. Lots to learn by watching your work.

Wow, 5 unique and wonderful builds.

Wow Michal, that's a lot of builds, yet they all look so well detailed and finished ant that requires both skills and time. A great year!

Share your resolutions for 2023. I'm going first I plan to build the Porsche 911 GT1, Pennzoil Livery, Tamiya kit, Indycal decals. It's on the bench. I plan to build the Chaparral 2D, 1966 Daytona configuration. Monogram kit on it's way, just made it through the border. I plan to build the Ferrari 250 GTO, N.A.R.T livery 62 Nassau or 63 Sebring. Kit on it's way from Japan, VRM decals on my bench. I plan to build the MB 300 SLR, 1955 Mille Miglia, modified to Fangio configuration. Kit and decals in my stash. I plan to stop buying and stashing kits... ok this one goes in the start exercising, lose weight and cut back on the whisky pile. It aint gonna happen... Four out of five. Proud of myself. Your turn guys!

I disagree with the title Helmut. You have some great results here. The Ferrari California Spider is very beautiful but I am most impressed by the resurrection of the Hell...er Porsche 908. So much so I think I might start searching eBay for one of these old kits.

Making Windshields and Windows Clearer
Pierre Rivard replied to Miatatom's topic in Model Building Questions and Answers
I'm very impressed with the 0.007 film Steven is using. Definitely something I want to try. I used to dip parts in Future but I now brush it on the part and I think it is actually better. The key for me has been to do both sides for best results. Method used for glass and headlamp covers on Corvette Grand Sport below. -
Joining the party here with my 2022 builds. 7 done this year, a record by a long shot. I usually do about 4 with a break in the summer but this year I could not stop!

Wow, great models here. A very good year!

That's what I would call a great year sir! All beautiful models and very interesting subjects. It's in part looking at your models and the historical reference you provide that inspired me to move from Nascar modeling to Cobras, Ferraris, Corvettes and others. I like your idea of a year in review. I hope others will do it too.

Martini Porsche 917 LH
Pierre Rivard replied to Rich Chernosky's topic in Other Racing: Road Racing, Salt Flat Racers
Rich, your 917 LH is beautiful. I couldn't do a decent looking silver if my life depended on it. I hope some day I can find a 917 LH kit. I'd love to do the Hippie Porsche. Your rendition of important subjects with these Fisher kits are always a joy to watch. Thank you for sharing it and happy new year! -
Nice build Jason. A shame Salvinos did not leverage the Monogram tooling for the chassis to make a better replica. You absolutely maximized the results possible with this chassis and as usual your paint finishes are impeccable.

And throwing in a little bit of Francis in it too? A man of the world our Mr. J ?

Welcome James, lot's of very nice 1/20 scale F1 kits out there. Tamiya kits are great and Ebbro even better!
