Magnifier 1/12 Ford GT 40 Done !
Pierre Rivard replied to cobraman's topic in Other Racing: Road Racing, Salt Flat Racers
Despite the fit issues it has turned out great. You could display it in a shop type setting with front & rear panels removed and standing against a wall behind the car. This way you can see both the great paint finish and the beautifully exposed chassis / mechanical bits. -

Feeling a little stuck on this duo build, so I did these go give me hope that there is a finish line somewhere out there. -

I hope you find a way through this issue and not lose this great build. PM me if there is anything I can do to help. -
Félicitations Thierry! This is a worderfully detailed model...or models. The chassis itself is a wonderful model. It took 2 kits but definitely worth it.

It's not you, it's the kit. The panel contours and curvature just don't match. It's a shame to be faced with this after all the great work you put on this model. -

Thanks Mark. Now moving faster on chassis work, interior next and keeping my favorite (body paint & decals) for last. -

Thank you Ken. I met Lafleur (briefly) years ago, the nicest and most unassuming superstar ever. I was there at Notre Dame when Gilles won for the first time in 78. A lucky win but it made up for all the previous bad luck. F1 was amazing back then, with all these cars looking different from each other and all various engine's sound signatures. Every year 5 or 6 different drivers would win races. -

Beautifully done Rich. I've seen a few of these Fisher kits presented but never seen one for real. Seems like they are nice but require work and skills to get good results. Obviously you have these qualities! -

Engines are always a struggle for me and I am happy they are finally done. I am disappointed is with the Shapeways 3D printed Webbers. I purchased the "high detail" option but they are coarse and poorly shaped. Check out pic 3 if you ever wondered why Cobras handled better than Tigers... -

I like how you added much realism to this basic 1 piece underbody/chassis. Looks really nice. If I understand right you polished the color coat before you put on the clear layer? That's different from how I do it but looks like you are making it work. -
John, I completely agree with your statement that wheels & tires make or break a model. Do them right you have a realistic replica, do them wrong you have a toy. Your's are in the very very right category!

Amazing work. I am attempting to build 2 cars together and getting stuck at times, can't imagine trying to handle 9 ! -

She's taking shape. I like what you have done with the most basic underbody. I look forward to seing the body cleared and decals. Should be awesome.
