1964 Ned Jarrett Ford
Pierre Rivard replied to MarkJ's topic in WIP: Stock Cars (NASCAR, Super Stock, Late Model, etc.)
I'll be glad to help. Let me work on ideas today and I'll send you results, either post here or send as a pm at your preference. Thinking medium-dark blue with some pearl in it? -
John, the engine looks fabulous. I can't wait to see it all dressed up. It will be glorious!

Mark, looks you are set to go thanks to Bill's advice. In the end you are following what you see on your ref pictures. I have a pic of Junior's car taken at Darlington 2 weeks prior to Charlotte and the exhaust is fully clear of the rocker panel. Go figure. -

This looks great Mark. Question, didn't NASCAR ban Ford from running the exhaust running through the frame after Daytona in 64? I remember pictures of Fireball's car wit the patched up lower body. Perhaps Ned's car was handled differently? -
Thank you Larry, Bob and John. I am more than happy with the results, particularly the paint all done with a brush (a 5 year journey to get there) I received a lot of input from fellow builders on the WIP which helped me solve a few issues. Keep posting WIP updates of your Matra John, a pure joy to follow!

Congratulations Gary. I'm sure this build required a lot of modifications and head scratching and you pulled it off beautifully! -

Thanks Mark for showing the tools. I wish I had known about belted sanding sticks before. Oh well, never too late to learn and definitely getting one asap. Great job on prepping that body. You're moving pretty fast on this one. -

Beautifully done Steve. You revived a little piece of history that could have easily been forgotten. Well done! -

Wow, nicely done. I always struggle removing trim. You used the dremel with a sanding drum? -

I was wondering which driver you would choose for your 64 Ford project. This will be a great project! -
Paint question? help?
Pierre Rivard replied to Dpate's topic in Model Building Questions and Answers
If you plan to go white I would not recommend pure white or arctic white. Back in the lacquer days GM never did this because the reflow oven would not handle a pure white. These types of white colors only started in the early eighties as the GM plants were gradually converting to BC/CC technology. GM's cleanest white of the era would be off-white or ivory by today's standards. -

Beautiful with superb detailing. Your builds are always so lifelike. Well done sir! -
This is simply outstanding in detailing and particularly in the various paint finishes that look so realistic. Can you provide info about your sources for the various type fasteners? Thanks.

Absolutely gorgeous John. Superb detailing and attention to details (like the subtle tide lettering weathering) Your clear coat selection seems perfect for a period racer. Looks like a satin finish right? I have the Lotus 72 and the 2 Tyrells in my stash and have yet to take the plunge on one of these more advanced builds. Your build will be a benchmark to follow. Well, well done sir! -

So much beautiful details to look at. This is superb craftsmanship. -
Wow, these wheels. Made like the real ones, can't get more realistic than that!

Beautiful work John. I was not aware of AMT making this car. How does it compare to the Tamiya kit we often see?
