Yep already read it, amazing to see the high level of details/complexity of all those Heller race car kits...45+ years ago!
-
Not a bad kit, made in the late 70's, when French Heller was expanding its 1/24 classic car line, kit was also reboxed in the Humbrol/Heller boxes in later years. Great & unique subject, the level of detail(s) is pretty good, but like many Heller kits, will demand a lot of patience, nicely detailed parts BUT ...fitting of some of the assemblies are not always the best!!!...need to be patient, but as we can see those kits can turn out in real nice replicas.

MPC Pepsi Laguna stocker is at vendors now - any in-box pics?
ZIL 111V replied to Matt T.'s topic in Car Kit News & Reviews
Remember hearing the rumour about Pond & Pepsi brakeup leading to this MPC nascar #39 PEPSI racer. Happy to see it back in its "fictitious" #39 PEPSI edition -
Like the K100 Aerodyne , the W900 Aerodyne is absolutely stunning, one of the nicest looking truck of its era... First KW Aerodyne plastic kits (K100/W900) came out back in 1980, '81,'82' (Monogram got the lead on this one!!!) : -Monogram W900 Aerodyne 1/32 SNAP. -AMT W900 Aerodyne 1/32 SNAP. -Monogram W900 Aerodyne 1/25 SNAP. -Monogram W900 Aerodyne 1/16. ...Revell germany could very easiely convert its 1/25 W900 VIT "Flat top" glue kit (based on Mono 1/16 W900), oddly no Aerodyne version until now!?! Monogram 1/25 snapper kit still the only 1/25 W900 Aero available (very nice kit for a snapper just finishing mind! ).

Tought that large scale kits were doomed, until we got the wonderful NEW Revell 1/12th latest Mustang, great to see that their is still hope for big plastic car kits, no doubt that a vintage MuscleCar subject...Mopar(s) indeed! would be a great (better) seller; IMHO, vintage model cars are way better sellers ... 1/12: -1970 Dodge Challenger R/T HEMI -1971 Plymouth Cuda HEMI -1971 Plymouth RR/GTX HEMI -1969 Mustang Boss 302 & OR 429 -1968/69 Vette 427 Conv. -1970/71 Chevy Camaro Z/28 -1971 Buick Riviera 455GS...Super slim chances, but we can dream! ...2015/16 Dodge Challenger SRT Hellcat . Exotic field: -1968-'73 Ferrari Daytona Conv -1971 Lambo Miura SV -1966-'73 Maserati Ghilbi...Again super slim chances!

MPC 1/16 '63 Corvette Stingray "SuperVette"
ZIL 111V replied to ImpalaBoy's topic in Car Kit News & Reviews
Original kit was first issued in 1971 as a 3 in 1 kit, as MPC very first 1/16th scale car kit, then seperate gasser type (Shaker & Rod Shop) & Factory stock versions (red Super Vette you got & later silver one) boxed troughout the 70's, the kit was finally "Street Machine" treated in it's last boxing of the mid 80's. Like many MPC kits of this era, a few assembly fitting problems here & there, but for experienced modeler can turn out very nice, still the only large scale plastic "split window" kit ever issued in the last 40+years. Pretty sure Round2 will reissue it, lets hope in the very 1st edition version. -

Revell 1/32 Freightliner and Reefer trailer.
ZIL 111V replied to Mr mopar's topic in Truck Kit News & Reviews
Nice to see this one box "combo" back, after nearly 30 years. Monogram did a great job with this 1/32 truck'n' trailer series, great looking kits for "snappers" . Revell price is pretty good too -
A great looking truck indeed ,AMT got the "General" 1/25th kit on the shelves back in 1978, remember getting it as a gift, in fall of '78; original boxart was just amazing! Very Nice kit (a few parts aligment issues, but very nice kit)...Monogram was fast too! circa the same time (1978) they got their starting Snap 1/32 truck/trailor series, beginning with the 1/32 General kit.

ZIL 111V replied to Plastheniker's topic in Model Trucks: Big Rigs and Heavy Equipment
Very, very Nice work & rare subject... as mention Heller kits not always assembly/fit friendly! Got that one as a gift in original edition back in 1980, remember the boxart top was magnificent Indeed French Heller got this on out back circa 1978/79, pretty rare subject even back then. -
Odd that their was no intrest (pre-orders) for this class 8 kit, back then, when the AMT 1/25th truck craze was getting more popular then ever in the 70's:'69,'70'71'72'...MPC followed in '71...ERTL in '73 the segement was a growing one for sure, even Monogram &...Testors got in late in the 70's early 80's.

Allison V-12 Powered Thunderbird reissued!
ZIL 111V replied to S. Svendsen's topic in Car Kit News & Reviews
Typical AMT's fast... "Ca$h In"! kit for 1969! When AMT was in need for fast cash, without breaking the bank! (Got to admit that the super simplistic FC frame is... Funny indeed! ) ...Great body & Engine -
Absolutely fantastic! Great news, heard about this, but tought this would be a rebox of the later modified: "uptated" AMT 359 "1100" in it's T501 "California Hauler" :Brown & white boxart, we all know since 1977. Tought the 1969 first T500-500 & later 1970 sleeper version molds had been heavily modified later in the 70's to update it to a 1100 359. Pretty sure the clear green glass of 1969 will be in, a great milstone/historical truck kit back after so many decades ... Again GREAT job Round2!

Old kit originaly made by Japanese "MIDORI" in their 1/16 "antique" series of the late 60's.... Remember buying the reboxed kit in the later edition UNION box (with picture of kit) back in 1985... at least you got the web now....back in '85 finding infos on this brass was tough! Former motorized kit, not the best fit of parts indeed , but with patience makes a very nice display piece. Were are these MIDORI 1/16th molds, today?

Is our hobby, growing or skrinking?
ZIL 111V replied to Chris White's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
40+ is surely the #1 maine age group for plastic model car buyers now a days... 40 years ago completly reversed, no doubt that many older "former" car modelers a getting back in the hobby since the last decade... Must be shocked! when they see the price of a domestic US car kit today: dramatically increased prices in the past few years, older age group (modelers) earn better incoms...guess modelcar kit makers know that! -
History of MPC's Fifth Generation El Camino Kits
ZIL 111V replied to Fabrux's topic in Truck Kit News & Reviews
Nice kit, first Royal Knight & other 70's Street Machine look(s) was neat looking... Bradley's "Red Light Bandit" version look a bit TOO over the top! -
Great Monogram kit, body shell is absolutaly flawless design/proprtion wise, surely the most beautiful '69 Camaro plastic kit ever! very nice model. Indeed adding a few more factory optional version parts: SS, RS, 302, 350 options, etc, would have been a better move, but guess a Foose "Pro-Touring" look had better... appeal for the younger crowd!

MB's 770K in 1/24th, excellent! Finally a 1/24th kit of this "touchy" parade limo.

Italeri, former ESCI, now "anonymus"...Toyota Land Cruiser, retooled as a warlord 4x4, in a "politacly correct" driver/warrior...less & white background boxing

Bad taste indeed! ... Beirut 1980's? (Mercedes mecca in the ME).

Very nice subject we don't see often. Like many of Minicraft 1/16th scale series: former Japanese GAKKEN kits/molds of the early 70's, not bad looking for such a simplified large scale kit... but those wire wheels
