Hey Kevin, on the hood supports, are those from Jaye also and were they hard to install? Never had any luck with photo etched ones. -
His early Plymouths, including the 1967 had Ford colors on the body, same as the Comet. Once the Chrysler people figured it out, they put a stop to it

The Lindberg frame looks like a pretty good fit.

Thanks John. I build a lot of nascar stuff with multiple colors and lacquer makes it easier.

I know MCW has lacquer paint. Do any of the others mentioned?

Removing Layering from 3D Printed Bodies.

For getting back into the building game, you didn't dip your toe in the water, you went ahead and dove in the deep end with that project. Welcome back -
Donnie Allison's '74 Monte
Shark replied to Belugawrx's topic in WIP: Stock Cars (NASCAR, Super Stock, Late Model, etc.)
If you can get your hands on a Revell snap tite Monte Carlo, that's the way to go. It fits on a Monogram chassis with a little modification. But they have got real pricey. Plus it's the rectangle headlight version. I am doing one now where I used a Canuck 3D round headlight conversion kit. Good luck with your project. -

Most of us Nascar builders were excited when these kits were announced and disappointed when they came out. Takes a lot of work to get the body close to what it should have been. I gave up on mine. Salvino JR did much better with the Chargers and Roadrunners. Same two piece chassis. -
Looking For Forest Service Green Paint
Shark replied to oldcarfan's topic in Model Building Questions and Answers
MCW no longer does aerosol cans, supplier issues for the small cans. You can try your local auto body paint store, many of them can mix paint and load it in a can. Just make sure to tell them you want the lower volume spray nozzle. I just had a can of a satin blue/green mixed and it was $22. -
Options for the S+M Revell 1967 GTX SS/B kit
Shark replied to gtx6970's topic in Model Building Questions and Answers
The 1967 "GTX" 440 you mentioned was actually a Belvedere with GTX badging. It had a bench seat. Some of the restorations and clones are not the most accurate. I would make the back seat resemble the bench seat you are getting. Don't remember which one, but the bench is copied from one of the Lindberg Super stock 64 Dodges. If you could get a back seat out of one of those, I would think that would be close enough. -

Might be able to help on a few things. The rules required them to have a back seat. For a front bench seat, I think Hart's Parts has one. The kit interior is GTX trim. The Sox and Martin car was actually a Belvedere, but Plymouth had them put the higher end GTX trim on the outside. -
Dodge L-700 Race Car Hauler

Awhile back I was buying some old kits from a vendor when he handed me this kit. I said I don't want that, he said I am giving it to you. You kind of answered why. But seeing your build makes me want to give it another look. -
How do I remove "blemishes" from windshields?
Shark replied to tahiti7's topic in Model Building Questions and Answers
Just what he said, Novus. I just finished doing a windshield that had a pretty decent tire mark. I did sand it with some 2000 wet paper and a touch of dish liquid, then the Novus polishes. -
Yves, for the bubbles, in the past I have stuck them with a straight pin and put some decal setting solution on them.
-
Pelham Blue is correct, it is a Cadillac color. Maybe if you are comparing it to old color photos, they are not the most accurate. I don't think VRM is still producing decals, I may be wrong. Patto is printing those Grand Sport and other VRM sheets by permission now. Most of the cars then had simple graphics so those with decal making abilities should have no trouble printing some of the non kitted versions. Yves, don't give up on your build. I think it looks good.

1965 Fairlane short tracker
Shark replied to Sledsel's topic in Stock Cars (NASCAR, Super Stock, Late Model, etc.)
The reason there were not many green cars back in the day, drivers were a superstitious bunch. Eased up when Harry Gant drove the Skoal Bandit. You did a great job on that kit. I bought one a while back and after looking at it thought too much work for now. -

Excellent! How do you get the shift pattern on the shifter ball? -

Just looking at that body from the side, you would think it would have been a competitive, aerodynamic car in the Cup series, similar to the Olds. -
Just looked at Southern Motorsports Hobbies and he has an Elliot hauler, look under discontinued kits. Wants $75 for it, little pricey in my opinion, but it depends on how bad you want it.

AMT made what you are looking for back in the 90's I believe. They did the Bill Elliot Coor's, and some others. Same trailer, different markings. I was at a swap meet a few weeks ago and seen a few for sale, still sealed, from different vendors. They turn up, just keep your eyes open for them.
