Paint Booths & Safe Ventilation?
Mike Chernecki replied to Synister's topic in Tips, Tricks, and Tutorials
I finally had a chance to build myself a spray booth. I want to thank Dave Thibodeau for his DIY spray booth suggestions in one of his videos and to Matt Mayer of Gravity Colors for recommending the blower. I was originally going to build this out of a plastic storage bin as in Dave's video, but my neighbor was installing new kitchen cupboards and did not want the roll top breadbox. I built a box to hold a furnace filter and a duct out the back to connect to flexible vent hose leading to the blower then out the window. Not seen in the picture is a fluorescent light strip on the inside. Here is the 6" blower Matt recommended, http://www.ebay.com/itm/iPower-4-6-8-10-12-inch-INLINE-DUCT-FAN-blower-HIGH-CFM-cool-vent-exhaust-/160875914720?var=&hash=item2574f3a5e0:m:mWju6pRNwkhaN7syfQM1NSg. I can spray anything, lacquers, urethane and no fumes in the room. -

Scalefinishes: Compatiable Clearcoat
Mike Chernecki replied to 69NovaYenko's topic in Model Building Questions and Answers
Scale Finishes also has a standard pre-thinned clearcoat, not a 2k clear like you bought. I think being stored in plastic bottles allowed the solvents to evaporate. I have been use Zero Paints 2k clearcoat for years over Scale Finishes and love it, they pack theirs in glass bottles with no evaporation. You can get their clearcoat in the US from HobbyWorld-USA http://www.hobbyworld-usa.com/Store/ You can also try Gravity Colors clear, I have some, but have not tried it yet. -

Anyone else have problems with the Ultra Chrome sticking? I haven't tried it recently, but the sheet I bought would fall off after being applied. -

D & E Distributors in Vernon, BC bought out all the remaining stock of House of Kolor lacquer. I bought some lacquer thinner from them not too long ago, they also have many of the Kandy colors available in lacquer. http://customkolorcanada.com/ -

You forgot the old Revell '57 Nomad with the opening doors, I think the last time it was reissued under the Skips or Hot Rod packaging. -

I have the MCW '57 Nomad, nice kit based on the Revell '56 Nomad/'57 Bel Air. Needs the '57 Bel Air 2-door Sedan to complete. -

73/74 Chevy Nova
Mike Chernecki replied to Ghost1680's topic in Car Aftermarket / Resin / 3D Printed
Nothing that I know of. The Revel '69 is best starting point, but you would need to remove the door vent windows and square up the rear quarter windows, then there is the different front and rear to scratch build. If you could get someone to 3D render the front and rear and have it 3D printed that would work as the fenders and hood are the same. Dash is the same as well, but the door and side panels are molded plastic style and easily scratch built. -
revell 4Q2016 Release Annoucement
Mike Chernecki replied to Exotics_Builder's topic in Car Kit News & Reviews
I was hoping for a full detail Corvette. The Bronco is a nice surprise, anyone know what year it may be, side marker indicate it may be 1970-1977. Is there much difference between 1966-1977? -
Modelhaus going, going Gone !!!!!!
Mike Chernecki replied to WoodyRDC's topic in Car Aftermarket / Resin / 3D Printed
You already need to shell out some serious bucks when a Modelhaus kit goes up on eBay, can't imagine how much when they are gone for a few years. Take a look when a Shawn Carpenter Truck kit goes up for sale, outrageous prices. -
