rattle can man replied to fiatboy's topic in Model Building Questions and Answers
I would guess the chrome part migh be a supercharger and associated parts? The white parts look like a modern v-8 intake with a cone filter. -
Why do old TV shows on DVD look stretched horizontally?

And why do efforts to "improve" (colorize and/or digitally remaster) old movies look so bad? -
DupliColor sealer not drying.
rattle can man replied to NOBLNG's topic in Model Building Questions and Answers
I never had a problem with it not drying. but I did have a can that let the orange from the plastic bleed through no matter how many coats applied. if t is sealer, I would think it shouldn't bleed through. -

What's with the U.S.Post office these days?
rattle can man replied to styromaniac's topic in The Off-Topic Lounge
Fed Ex is just as bad. a package shipped Friday, according to the shipper. FED-Ex said they would have a delivery date once it was received. that was their claim through Monday Morning. Monday Afternoon it was out for delivery. Tuesday morning status was unavailable. last night it was delivery scheduled for today. It was delivered today. Since they scan barcodes with every movement, how could they not have good tracking? -

What would YOU like to see as a model
rattle can man replied to JeroenM3's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
I built one long ago. Maybe early '90s. I remember that version was a little fiddly, but not bad. It didn't have much flash. Of course it was a 1989 Prestige version. -
you might be able to prolong its useful life once opened by putting it in a pill bottle with a desiccant pack (one of those little packets of silicone that says "do not eat") that seem to be packed with so many products.

1937 DeSoto bumpers?
rattle can man replied to mr moto's topic in Model Building Questions and Answers
I'm positive some other kit had them. I put some ribbed bumpers on '32 before I had ever bought a Revell Merc or '40 pick-up. They were straight. not curved. -

Those look delicious Bob. I didn't plan on having any really hot ones this year, but somehow I had a Carolina Reaper come up. I dehydrate mine. I grew sweet cayenne, and Sweet Heat Peach as my hot peppers this year. My GF/Partner gets blisters form just saying jalapeno, so I am limited on cooking with them. -
Glue styrene strip of appropriate thickness to the door or opening and sand to shape and fit. if you are careful, you can leave just enough of a gap to represent panel lines. Or you can just fill everything and then re-scribe the panel lines. And of course, reinforce joints by backing with more styrene.

my shoulder is feeling good, despite lack of "adult supervision" yesterday and doing more than I have total in the week and a half since surgery.

almost any RWD vehicle is not great on ice & packed snow. You have to add weight to the back and adapt to the different vehicle dynamics

Arnica seems to work good on my arthritic hands and feet. What irked me today is a stubborn bottle of paint I can't open. I will try again tomorrow, when I can try bigger, better tools without supervision (My partner has been holding me to docs orders, but she will be out of town for a few hours tomorrow).

And to make things worse, they buried hazardous chemicals in the pits as backfill or just dumped them down old mine shafts. But it is of the unmapped, unknown old mine shafts with timber supports from almost two centuries ago that are the scariest. you never know when and where a collapse might happen.

Riding in old mining areas can be dangerous. I grew up in a coal mining region in PA. between drownings in old strip-mining pits and people, vehicles, and even homes disappearing into abandoned mineshafts a lot of people have died.

temporary repair to a radiator hose. wrapped the area with duct tape then applied a hose clamp over top of that. worked like a charm to get me home. -
I agree the website was not the best. I would still like to order from some of the vendors If they have found an alternative to Shapeways.

just colored decal sheets could work since they were just straight strips io reflective vinyl. but white decal on white truck would not be as obvious as a reflective/ sparkly material.
