  1. One of the worst examples of fakery is some modern performance cars play engine sounds through the car stereo when giving it heck. Some newer BMWs come to mind, but there are others. Most examples of fake dazel the neighbours as much as the owners. Fake engine sounds only dazel the driver. Sad.
  2. Are you stuck on 1/24 scale? I built one of these 1/20 scale kits when I was young. It's pretty simplified, but would make a great start.
  3. Those interior colours look great. The kit may be simplified, but that chassis builds up better looking than I would have thought.
  4. Interesting catalogue of chassis. It must have taken a lot of work to compile and fact check. Also, more chassis built than I would have though. Very cool, thanks for posting.
  5. Yup, everything he said! Especially the shade photos. Nicely done.
  6. Cool looking Dart, both before and after. I really love the 68s. It looks super mean in the 'after' shots.
  7. Thanks Bill, for making the effort to help sort this matter out. And thanks as well to RobDebie for your excellent information. This is all valuable and hard to find (and decipher) information. Much appreciated.
  8. I'd be interested in seeing this if/when it happens.
  9. Cool project, and nice multi tasking. The decals look great.
  10. Cool looking MBG, and the colour suits it well. Nicely done. I have one of these on the bench right now, just getting it finished up.
  11. Thanks much for the links and info. Very interesting.
  12. I wasn't aware that the Fujimi kit is too wide. Good to know, as I've been seriously thinking of picking one up. Is the model visibly too wide and out of scale, or just one variant of the 917 compared to others? ...or is just a matter of two halves of a body that do not line up well? If the Fujimi kit is inaccurate, it makes me wonder, though... wouldn't it have been better for Renaissance to create a correct width front body? Presumably this would be much harder to do, but 'correcting' a kit by creating an inaccurate transkit to supplement an already inaccurate kit in an effort to make it look better seems like a step backward. Especially with an iconic car such as the 917, and I would imagine the combined cost of the Fujimi kit and the Renaissance transkit is not insignificant. Either way, I'm interested to learn more about this.
  13. Very cool! Digging the look.
  14. Cool looking old Ford. Nice style and colour. I think I like the steelies with baby moons best, especially with those tires. Very cool.
  15. Gorgeous build. The detail and cleanliness speak for themselves, but the custom body work is outstanding. All too often chops and sections don't flow right, looking a bit chunky. But yours is so smooth, the lines flowing beautifully. Truly masterful body mods. Oh, and under the hood, nothing cooler than a Nailhead with a bucket load of carburettors. All very cool and exceptionally well done.
  16. Thanks for the link, Richard. Very interesting read. I am somewhat familiar with some of his more well know designs, but knew nothing of the man. R.I.P Luigi
  17. Re-usable basket style coffee filters make for great fine screen material.
  18. I do something similar, but I brush on some Gunze Mr Surfacer (1000 or 1500) to coat over the final sanded filler. The Mr Surfacer seals everything up nicely, and it feathers out very well.
  19. I am only aware of two kit based options for BF Goodrich Radial T/A tires. MPC included hollow vinyl versions in many of their 80s kits. They were not a really great tire. The sidewall lettering was accurate in style but a bit over sized, and the tread was only fair. With some cleaning up they may look respectable. The other set is the big & littles available in some ARII kits of American cars such as the 71 Mustang, 72 Challenger, early 70s T-Bird, etc. These are a nice tire with accurate sidewall and tread, but seem a bit over sized, even for 1/24 scale. There are probably some better choices in the aftermarket. Scale Equipment Ltd used to sell some BFG tires with accurate white sidewall lettering, but I just visited their site and could find no tires available there.
  20. I don't know if it will be of any use to you, but in the 70s Revell produced the Coors Courier custom pickup. It had an ice chest in the back that fit the width of the bed. Even if the ice chest itself is not to your liking, it had a clear plastic piece that fit into it, molded to represent ice cubes and beer bottles on ice. This part may be useful for whatever ice chest you end up using.
  21. Actually, .080" equals 2.0 mm, a size in which aluminium tubing is indeed readily available through hobby sources. K&S sells it.
  22. The Mustang looks great. You have weathered the trials and tribulations well. Excellent work!
  23. Very nicely done. The weathering really brings this model to life. I like.
  24. I can't see them either.
  25. Wow, that's pretty crazy. If I recall, in the late 60s Revell held a sweepstakes contest in which the grand prize was a Gemini space capsule.
