Remember that 1 inch = .040” in 1/25 scale, 1/2” = .020”, 1/4”= .010”, etc. This makes the math pretty easy. Measure the actual 1:1 part and convert the size. A battery cable will range from 3/8” to 5/8”, with 1/2” being pretty common. Go with .020” wire and you will be quite close.

Cool style, Claude. Nicely done. -
Solder Headers - What bonding agent to use?
Bainford replied to andy12646's topic in Model Building Questions and Answers
I use CA. Most any brand works well including cheap dollar store single use tubes. My preferred brand is BSI (Bob Smith Industries). It comes in several viscosities that are handy for various purposes, though super thin is my go to CA. They also sell accelerator (AKA kicker) which is highly recommended, and they sell a CA de-bonder, which is marginally effective regardless of brand. -
Very cool. I like it.

I’m glad to see this back on the bench. I just discovered this build and reading through the thread has been very entertaining. Outstanding work here, looking forward to seeing more.

Yup, very cool. That chassis looks sweet.

Awesome tip, and nicely done tutorial. Thanks.

Comission build; 1/25 1966 Mustang shifter -TOTAL scratch build.
Bainford replied to Dann Tier's topic in WIP: Model Cars
Yes, I would love to see this, too. Dann, your mastery of raw plastic stock is most impressive, and I must say quite inspiring. I wouldn’t have thought this level of accuracy was possible without resorting to metal. Very well done. -

I bought the ARII Mustang a few years ago. It’s in my for sale pile now. No redeeming qualities at all, except maybe those nice BFG tires, but they’re too big for most 1/24 applications.

Looks sharp! That’s got to be the nicest build I’ve seen of that kit.

Wow, that's lovely. What a beautiful car. Very well done!

I'm intrigued. I'm going to check this out.

Is this your fathers Oldsmobile?
Bainford replied to Oldcarfan27's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
It reminds me of a PT Cruiser running around this area, with every piece of tacky junk imaginable tacked on to it. The only difference is, no one cares what happens to a PT Cruiser. -
Serious 3D printing inquiry...
Bainford replied to Dann Tier's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
Interesting topic. Of the choices mentioned I would be most interested in the Exige, but only in 1/24 scale. Price would have to be somewhat reasonable as well. -
Nice build of one of my all time favourite kits. Looks great. I agree, skirts would have been very useful in this kit.

Fantastic model building skills. They look great. Very well done.

Your preferred gloss white
Bainford replied to Merkur XR4Ti's topic in Model Building Questions and Answers
I paint mostly with enamels, but if I’m painting white I use acrylic or lacquer. I have found that white hobby enamels can sometimes yellow over time. -
Best Method For Exposed Primer?
Bainford replied to Dieselhead's topic in Model Building Questions and Answers
I have not attempted to do this, but if I were to try, I think I would spray the body with the primer of choice, then once dry, apply small amounts of liquid mask with a detail brush, or even a toothpick for tiny chipped paint areas. Then paint the body, and once the paint has cured, remove the small bits of liquid mask. It helps to make your liquid mask spots as thick as possible. In place of liquid mask, something like small bits of silly putty might work. Another thought is the salt method, but I've never tried it and can't comment on a procedure. Perhaps someone who has tried this method will chime in with practical advice on how to do it, and if it would be suitable for this purpose. -
Good looking Duster. Everything under the hood seems to be in order. Nicely done.

Thanks for that. I just bought a bag of #15 hex beads. I also picked up a bag of #15 round beads in flat black, as they seemed potentially useful. It's also worth checking out the 'Tools & Adhesives' section. There are some interesting tools there that would be useful for model building.

I've seen these on models as well where they have been used to great effect, but I've not found any usable sizes in the craft stores, etc. Been looking for years. I as well am interested to know what is out there in scale sizes, and with a clean hex shape.

Very nice build on a tough kit. Beautiful!

Beautiful build. Very nicely done. Those decals look as though they might be challenging, but the application is excellent.
