  1. Oh, that's purdy!
  2. I don't feel fear of hurting someone's feelings, I just dread the backlash or poo-storm that is sure to blow up afterward because of people defending themselves or others who are criticized, and I choose not to initiate that poo-storm or become involved in one already in progress. So yeah, I keep my mouth shut most times when I'm not blown away by someone's work. Yeah, same result (few or no replies to a post with sub-par work), but I wanted to clarify mine (and certainly others' too) motivation for not commenting.
  3. I've got nothing to add on the wire recommendations, as I use the 30ga. wrapping wire too. Here's an article featuring a smallblock Ford engine, with a strip of photos along the bottom that show the plug wires' locations on the heads, and how they're routed from the distributor. There may be detailed shots of the fuel lines too, but I didn't look that closely. http://mustangmonthly.automotive.com/146796/mump-1011-ford-347-stroker-small-block-build-part-2/index.html (click the link, because it's displaying an abbreviated version so copy/paste won't work)
  4. The police car is actually a Model T, and it's a cool kit. It has a few old police accessories, as well as hot rod parts for the original 4 cylinder and I think there's an extra set of custom wheels, even though there aren't any tires for them since the stock tires don't fit them. I bought one of the mixers out of curiosity, and wasn't impressed. It's a show rod, kind of silly looking, and IMO the engine isn't nice enough to use elsewhere, so I threw it on the stack of stuff to trade.
  5. More time is good, but don't wait up for me... I haven't been building much of anything lately, and the nearest-to-completion Fox I have right now is still a ways off.
  6. I wonder where this project stands, since if you go to the site, they're still looking for funding. I wonder how much of it has been shot already... ?
  7. Hmmm. Of the three upcoming hot rod movie threads on the site right now, this looks (or sounds) like the best of them. The Oregon-based movie looked a little rough. The Fast and Furious franchise doesn't do much for me. I saw the first one, never bothered with the rest, and didn't even know there was a fourth one already. This one looks cool, if they didn't screw it up by making it too hollywood.
  8. Can I have the 289?
  9. Problem with that is the Nascar trucks are based on full-size models (Silverado, F150, Ram, Tundra), and the NHRA Pro Stock trucks were based on the small or mid-size models(S10, Dakota... Were there any Rangers?) Also, the chassis used are quite different between the Nascar and NHRA vehicles.
  10. I've been complaining about the thick body of these since the Challengers came out. I still say the Challengers look fine from the door handles up, but there's too much of it below that... For some reason, it only bothers me on the two door models- The older 300 has basically the same proportions, and I like it. To me, the Charger has enough other problems that I don't notice the thickness on it. Of course you know what part of the anatomy opinions are like...
  11. Very cool, I like it.
  12. I picked up a JoHan Petty '64 Belvedere, and a JoHan '62 Dodge Dart, both sealed. The owner of the LHS bought a collection of kits from an estate sale. They were mostly airplanes, a couple ships, a few armor, and a small handfull of cars. We tried to figure out what the JoHans were worth, did a little looking on eBay, and struck a deal. I think I did ok. Gotta figure out what to do with them now...
  13. Get out of my head, Chuck! I saw a 2-door Blazer the other day and for some reason thought about the Sy/Ty's and how cool a second gen Typhoon would've been.
  14. Because it's non-functional. The blower (looks like a Kenne Bell) is nice, but the non-functional shaker scoop is LAME.
  15. Good looking build, Dan. You gonna bring it to the GBASMA meeting tomorrow?
  16. That kit has one of the nicest small-block Fords I've seen... It would be a shame to use that goofy looking Nissan 6 cylinder they included in the Tokyo Drift version. Just sayin'...
  17. Whaaa???? How reliable (no pun intended) is this little birdie?
  18. I've passed it (or one of them) on the freeway going the opposite way a few times in my life. Never have seen it stopped to look at it up close.
  19. The GTO wheels in the kit represent the 17" wheels standard on them. There was also an optional 18" wheel for the GTO, but not in the kit... I like this project so far- I always thought an LSX swap into that body Impala would be cool. Are you planning on adding the GTO's IRS as well?
  20. I'm reading this thinking "what were the cars powered by??" Then I remembered that not everywhere is as flat as southeast Texas... I'm guessing you ran them down the hills, kinda like Pinewood Derby cars, without the track, or the pinewood... Sounds like fun!
  21. For some reason I'm thinking there's an IRS setup in the AMT '33-34 Ford coupe, but I don't remember what type.
  22. There was one (I think, maybe two) diecast Coke machine, and a little diecast dolly that came with it.
  23. I live near Baytown, and work in the Houston area all over Harris County. If I see it, I'll check back in and let you know where, but I don't have much faith it'll be seen whole again. I'm sure it's been parted out, and its bits and pieces will find their way onto other trucks... I'm betting it was insured, but I bet normal (non specialty car) insurance won't want to cover the modifications. Anyway, best of luck to the owner.
