  1. Bradley, Thanks for the rundown/review. Like I said, I'll probably end up getting a couple.
  2. The Lightning is a 2-valve engine, and the Cobra is a 4-valve engine, so the cam covers look quite a bit different. The Revell Shelby GT500 kit would be closer, but not exactly accurate for a Terminator. Lightning: GT500:
  3. I haven't heard of Speed City Casting... Do you mean Drag City Casting? If so, that's Ed Fluck, and I think he does pop around here from time to time, but I can't remember his username (EDIT: His username is 'krassandbernie'). If he's got stuff in stock, his turnaround time is pretty quick. Stuff looks great too. If you are actually talking about Speed City Casting, I have no idea who they are.
  4. I'll be getting a couple, since the one original issue I have has a warped roof. Anybody got a pic of the decals?
  5. I'll be your friend, Mike, but you're not getting any 'benefits' from me!
  6. Problem is that he seems to have the same stuff each time you see him, but I guess there's always the chance you'll see something you didn't last time, or something will strike you differently than it did before.
  7. Nice! I can't remember the guy's name, but I've bought some stuff from that guy at shows in Lake Charles, LA and Houston. Nice guy, and he does have some decent prices. I got a few MPC and Monogram Fox Mustang kits about a year ago.
  8. That wouldn't be accurate either, because if you ask the builder, it IS finished!
  9. And slightly back on topic... Yeah, people love to over-categorize things. You think there are a lot of automotive genres? Check out how subdivided music is these days...
  10. I think what George is saying is that some of them are actually really legitimately pieces of junk. I've seen em too, where there's not just "some rust", but the body looks like something that probably should've been left in the field where it had been comfortably resting (rusting?) for the previous 50 years. I also wonder how someone can be proud of bolting a rotted body on a poorly thrown together frame with a Chevy 305 on it running open headers so as to give the illusion of performance... I'm all for something with a little patina, or seeing something in a transitional phase where it's just good to be on the road and running well/reliably before it gets cleaned up, but to start out to build something with the intention of it being a piece of poo... Meh, no thanks. Jairus, I didn't see any of the above-described vehicles in your poker run album, just to be clear.
  11. Both links will eventually show you pictures from the same fotki album...
  12. http://public.fotki.com/drasticplasticsmcc/instruction_sheetsh/
  13. Is there any relation to this one, because its body is TINY!
  14. Yeah, except there was a thread asking his whereabouts, so since that was in the open, the apology/clearing things up makes sense to be in the open too. Jr., hope the family emergency has been taken care of.
  15. Very cool. I think if I ever tried to build this car, I'd just be lazy and paint a stock Chevelle. Bodywork looks good so far. Keep it up!
  16. If you're trying to replicate your 1:1, you're in luck because that's not a 6-cylinder, that's a small-block V8. You're probably thinking it's a six because of the exhaust port spacing.
  17. The compressed air goes back into the passenger compartment to an intercooler, then comes back toward the engine and through the firewall into the throttle body. I don't have any pics of that particular car's intercooler setup. Here's one from a Mustang. Here's the engine and plumbing from the same Mustang. It's not an LS engine, but the setup is basically the same (except for the single vs twin differences).
  18. Here's more of a street car (even though it runs mid 10's). It's a 70 Chevelle with the LQ9 out of an Escalade. I jacked these pics from this thread at the Team Chevelle forum. This car was also featured in last month's Car Craft.
  19. Really not my cup of tea, but to keep with the late-model Mopar theme, maybe you can put a Plymouth Prowler grille to finish out the front.
  20. Are you looking for street setups, or full race applications? Here's one racecar I've seen. I thought I had more in my photos, but I guess I don't. This is in a '98-02 Camaro, btw.
  21. Highs in the 30s and lows in the 20s in Houston, with snow/sleet/ice forecast just ain't right... I live south of Interstate 10 to avoid stuff like this. Nothing frozen here yet except a few plants outside.
  22. Holy cats, that was quick!
  23. Oh man, that's looking good so far. The red lettering looks funny in that position without the ponies in front of it.
  24. Your GT project looks pretty cool. I also like the wheels on the yellow car. Use Castrol Super Clean or Purple Power to soak the body to strip the paint. Soak in a plastic container- it'll eat thru metal. Or you can use oven cleaner- put the body in a Ziploc and spray it in there, seal it up and let it sit a while. Using purple stuff, or oven cleaner, leave it a day or so and then put on some rubber gloves and scrub with a toothbrush. Paint should come right off. If you find some stuff that neither will touch, try soaking in 91% rubbing alcohol, and scrub just the same.
  25. I have that purple poster, autographed by Mr. Roth about a year before he passed away.
