I love that truck. Those old MPC late '70's/Early '8's Chevies are very scarce. I was able to restore a '78 a couple of years back, and I was able to get my hands on an unbuilt '78, and an '80. I want to do a '80 Fleetside 2wd one day, but these kits are too valuable to cut up. I'll figure something out. I picked up a set of Fireball Resins' excellent 6-Lug Rally wheels for an '84.

I believe that Slixx made a set for the '68 and '69 Chargers. I still have an unbuilt Dick Landy '68 Charger kit, which has an excellent set of Decals.

Great save!!!! -
Fantastic!!!!! It's a shame that Revell has not seen fit to re-release these gems.

Fantastic!!!!!!

I like that one. I rooted through my parts box yesterday, and found a Turbo 400 Transmission for mine. I still need a set of Tail Lights. I will probably make some since I cannot get anything from the Modelhaus. I also revisited my '70 and '66 rebuilder Bonneville Hardtops, and the '67 is the most viable for a re-build, as I plan to paint it this week. I also plan to re-join Fotki soon so that I can post pics.

AMT 1959 CHEVY EL CAMINO 1:25 KIT REVIEW
Ron Hamilton replied to hpiguy's topic in Car Kit News & Reviews
Thanks Chris!!!! I have been familiar with the AMT '59 El Camino since my next door neighbor built one of the kits back when it first came out. It was packed with detail, and some interesting customizing bits that have not been returned to the kit, like the original Radir Mag Wheels and the Recording Console fir the bed, even though the controls are still on the Chrome tree. Several years ago, I purchased an original kit box from the '60's, and lo and behold, it had the custom parts in it. I matched them up to one of the later kits, and it proudly sits on my shelf. I may buy one of these for a planned '60 I want to do, utilizing the Revell hardtop kit, and a Model Car Garage Photoetch set. I like white styrene over the blue or gray styrene used before. Back in '60, Chevrolet whipped up a few El Caminos trimmed out like an Impala, and that is what I want to do. -
Very Nice! One of my Teachers had a Burgundy one back in the day. I just placed an order for a kit. Your build is the one that put it over the top for me. I plan to do some of the same interior mods to my build. That is when I get around to it.

I bought some Fred Cady and Keith Marks Decals for the '70 Charger when I was going to build my Modelhaus/ original annual MPC I built back in the day, but scrapped to do an accurate '69 from one of the original DOH kits back in the '80's. It's kind of funny, I have a lot of Chargers in my collection, and I plan to get one of these too. I even know what color it will be(Triple Black Hemi R/T), as I have a Hemming Muscle Magazine with the particular car on the cover. I have to get a set of white letter Polyglas GT's, and a set of proper Rally Wheels for the car. It should be a fine stable mate with my '67 and '71 Hemi Chargers. I may turn the new kit into a 440 Car, and build the Resin Bodied one as a Hemi. Decisions, Decisions.

Rex, I appreciate the knowledge you have on the Mustang, as well as the interesting builds I have seen you do. I am about to revisit my Mach I. You will get a kick out of what I plan to do with it.

I want to take a look at the hardtop from the Monogram '59 to see if it can fit on the AMT '57, as I have several of those I want to build..

Cuda,s 1/25 &1/24 Why not more 1/25
Ron Hamilton replied to WoodyRDC's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
Several years ago, I came across a glue-bombed MPC '70 Cuda, and I did a lot of work to it, combining it with a shortened "Latest tool" '71 Charger. I also did a similar thing to a Craftsman '64 Valiant, combining it with a '71 Duster in order to get the desired detail I wanted in the build. I have been fortunate in that I was able to procure a not so nice '65 Barracuda, which I am going to transform into a 273 "Power Pack" car using the skills I learned from doing the Valiant, and a dilapidated '66 Promo, which I am going to open up, and re-work into a detailed build, using parts from the '71 If I can find another one. Revell's ;68 and '69 Dodge Darts are pretty nice kits, and I wish that the AMT '71 Duster was as nice a kit ( excellent chassis and running gear, poor execution of side windows), as well as the '69 Barracuda (ancient tooling). I built one of the AMT '69 Barracudas pretty much from the box as a street machine, and it went together quite easy, and looked great. I worked over a Revell '70 AAR into a Gran Coupe, and I have yet to build a Revell '70 Hemi Cudas as I have several for a few projects. Even though I am a Chevy guy at heart, I am deep into well detailed Mopars and Fords too. -
Revell 76 Gran Torino Model Kit Review
Ron Hamilton replied to hpiguy's topic in Car Kit News & Reviews
I picked one of those up Saturday. I have not gone over it too much, but I am delighted that there are stock parts for the 351 Windsor Engine. I am making arrangements to get the stock engine parts cast in resin to use on my Starsky and Hutch car. I started on a '72 Gran Torino Sport Sportsroof, using a JoHan Nascar Body Chrome, and Glass. I was able to get some parts from Motor City Resin, namely a scooped hood , and a mostly correct Bucket Seat Interior. And I am going to adapt the rest from a Revell Gran Torino. I am going to use a set of Magmum 500 wheels from a '70 Torino GT. I have the Model Car Garage Photoetch, as I plan to add a Vinyl Roof, and some Body Side Mouldings, after I do a little body Massaging as I did on m Starsky and Hutch Car on the side windows, and sail panels. For my purposes, this is a much better kit than the Starsky and Hutch Rendition -
Great Work!!!!

It's kind of funny, in some areas, those old Revell Wreckers are quite expensive, and then some are quite cheap. I have a few of them, just for the wrecker and accessories, as the rest of the kit is junk to me. My plan is to do a few '70's wreckers, using the AMT Ford F350 Kits, Chevy and Dodge pickups for a diorama of a filling station/shop/used car lot I plan to do in the future. I have just about everything to do it with except time and patience. I even have the first wrecker planned, down to the color. Yours looks marvelous, and I love that scratch-built body you did on Cooter's Truck. I wonder how many of those would sell if it were properly executed like yours.

I have a Revell that I built in the80's, and an original MPC from 1983 Moulded in red. -
I love that one. It brings back memories. I bought one of those when it was new, and built it right away. I still have it, even though it has not seen the light in over 25 years. I lost a side marker light from it, but otherwise it is still there. One day, I may reassemble it.
