Randy as in 1-1tires, yes ! Probably the best source on a Bias Ply is Coker tires . In the 1-25th scale model versions , I recall M P C doing snow tires back I guess about 1967-8.

Best kit for motorhome conversion
Eshaver replied to MustangGuy23's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
Seems to me that Monogram who later re- released a "Big Rig" in 1-32nd scale , had the chassis basics to do a "Light Duty " or Class II Motor home . I think it was a Peterbult . Regardless, , you need a substantial frame and heavy wheels . This chassis could then accommodate a 1-25th scale cab . If it were me , I'd simply scratch build a copy of a Winnebago or something like that . If you go to a Michael's , they had lots of these kits at one time ............. -
Deora - Reissue versus Original kit?
Eshaver replied to Ken McGuire's topic in Truck Kit News & Reviews
Well, the original 1967 kit had both a Clear canopy over the bed as optional . It also had a cover . When the Kit was re- issued sometime in the early 70's , it came out with a Camper top . Now this meant the deletion of the bed cover and no one seemed to notice . The issue that's always bothered me is the completely WRONG interior pattern and the opening door . Several things were done wrong from the introduction of this kit and could have been easily rectified from Jump street. Same can be said of the headlamps in the grille as well as too many grille bars . Building an "EXACT" replica of this truck is doable . However , careful research is necessary....... -
The only "K " car I've seen from Motormax has been the Dodge Diplomat sedan and a Town and Country version. Overall, for the price , decent .

David, I'm told that the "New " re-issue will only have the "Long " rails used normally in a straight truck configuration . The Stephens International re- issue had both .

Rockin' Rancheros!
Eshaver replied to Tom Geiger's topic in Model Trucks: Pickups, Vans, SUVs, Light Commercial
What a wonderful walk back through time Tom ! I had several of those kits in the Styline days myself . Thankfully, one survived a Flood we endured here in 1973 . I made it into a Sedan Delivery . -

A M T's gorgeous art prints in 1969 were the all time high point in their history. Monogram had a few hits , so did Revell. A M T blew it period when they were held hostage by Racing Champions . I dunno how many times a box art model was depicted on a box , only to be something ENTIRELY different with in the box .

34 ford tow truck
Eshaver replied to bussshop's topic in WIP: Model Trucks: Pickups, Vans, SUVs, Light Commercial
Derek, most wrecker cranes that were in use during that time were "Hand Cranked " . I 'm aware of the simplicity of the old 1963 era AMT crane . A place to look would be both Holmes wrecker cranes and Weaver cranes . The Weaver was a hand cranked model and actually lasted well into the middle 1950's -

53 Ford Dump Truck
Eshaver replied to pharoah's topic in Model Trucks: Pickups, Vans, SUVs, Light Commercial
Looking over this "Big Job " ford , I'd say you got the details nearly perfect . I've worked on the real ones long enough and I know what the real ones had . Definetly a tribute to the Heavy duty trucks of the era............ -
Are We Model Hoarders?
Eshaver replied to mrmike's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
To be honest , I probably have a couple of hundred model kits . They;re all singles as opposed to having multiples of any one kit . I do dioramas and each diorama has it's own set of cars that stay with that diorama . I've "Borrowed a few cars on the last diorama only because a show came up, finances were running thin as this last diorama nearly ran into the 1400.00 range ! Hey, I got in deeper than what I had estimated back in the spring when I decided to actually do this one . Look, I've given up alcohol and tobacco years ago. My largest expense is usually my son's education expenses . The dioramas are paid for from side work I do as in Meusuiem work . Besides, fresh dioramas generally get me new work leads ................ -

Really weird question
Eshaver replied to Joe Handley's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
Working in an enclosed area with a lot of automotive chemicals is not good . I myself have Emphazemiea over the use of Benzene , laquer thiner , and using Bondo with very poor ventalation over the years . -

I want "so and so" to send me a PM...
Eshaver replied to Harry P.'s topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
Uh, the party that jantrix is trying to not deal with has had a dealing with me . After the way I was treated , I wouldn't speak to this person again either !!!!!!!!!!!! -
Darrin, it's easier to counterfit parts than one may imagine . Using cheaper materials , not certifying it through D O T regulations , not even using enough material so as to do a function properly. One example was when the dallas Morning News newspaper discovered a load of A/C filters that didn't have enough paper in them to even bother filtering motor oil once . Several Big Chain stores in the Dallas area were finially alerted as to a shipment of filters that were discovered as Chineese manufactured . Ed Shaver

HOW DO YOU ARCHIVE YOUR BUILDS--A POLL
Eshaver replied to Dr. Cranky's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
Virgil, by "Other" , I mean to say, I just box stuff and store it away. Look, I don't have room to archive on photo sites everything I do, nor do I really want to. I'll save some things as i'll point out a building tip for someone on a forum. Outside of that, I see no point in having stuff saved on a Photo hosting site . Ed Shaver -
Chrysler did the same thing in North Carolinia and later in Maryland back in 1990. I was representing a couple of Aftermarket retail stores here in Virginia part time . Police , F B I and some looked to be Customs Agents just came in unannounced in a car show and seized anthing Chrysler Branded from all the vendors and then hauled them off too. I had to get one friend out of the jail on bond . Oh they shut him down alright , but good . Ed Shaver

That is one car I would sooner forget when it comes to trying to diagnose top problems . Seven solinoids , five miles of wire , four motors as I remember correctly ............. eccccccccchhhhhhhhhh ! Nice model though . Ed Shaver

Sam, that dirama needs to be shown at a real car show and yes, it needs an award too ! Ed Shaver
