  1. I gave up on the Delahaye - just can't get the front right. I am sending it to a new home today. Still gotta get rid of the Bugatti. These were from a friend that has passed. I have no real interest in them other than he sent them to me to build and then passed away before I could get to them. I built other cars for him that he never lived to take possession of that I will keep to remind me of him. I was excited about the Delahaye and it was coming nicely. But I tried several different ways to get it together and could not. Tried to find build help on the net, read Matt Bacon's article. - just no luck for me. So I hope the next home does something with it. I shoulda built it as a TROG style or hot rod.
  2. Thanks! To all of you. It was really fun to build and think about the details and making sure every part got some weathering. I say it needs some dull chrome hubcaps, but wife says guy wouldn't have those. Yeah she had some input here too. Wait'll you see my Tamiya Morgan. Shame to build it like I'm going to have to, but the bad paint refuses to come off. But it has a nice barn find survivor look to it. THAT is what I should have done to that Heller Delahaye I started. It is going to new home, where hopefully it will get finished. But if not, I hope it lives on in some other project.
  3. Tie ins are crazy these days.
  4. Probably for the best. When I used to own a Hobby Shop, there were several wholessalers I dealt with like that. THat's why I wondered... and there used to be a big distributor down there that feels awfully familiar.
  5. If it's like the Trumpeter chrome, you can't "scrape" it to glue. CA, epoxy, white glues? You can't file it easily for sprue attachments either. Or maybe with a real metal file. But it will polish like nobody's business.
  6. I might can see if I can find them next time I get my car serviced at LKN Hyundai, but that will be a while. About 10 miles away. I looked the address up on Google Earth and it comes up a big brick warehouse looking building. They may be a mail order only place? Warehouse operation? My guess is they may be a wholesaler with some online retail? Just a guess.
  7. I love building stuff like that. Would like to try again soon. May get some recommendations from you.
  8. I love it! Cool to see someone thinking like that. Looks good enough to be probable.
  9. Does this kit still come with the metal springs for the front suspension? this was the FIRST kit I ever built (or maybe the 74 Annual). No paint, only glue - LOTS AND LOTS OF GLUE. LOL. I was 9? I stll have a soft spot for this kit. Sorta like the glue softened plastic of my kit. LOL Yours is beautiful.

NIce! I built this one years ago and still enjoy looking at it. Great build!
  11. Very nice and the photos are great!
  12. Thanks for the compliments.
  13. It's done. Over in the completed section now. Y'all let me know what you think, good or bad.
  14. Finished. Pretty much box stock. Weathering is as hard as shiny, just not as nerve wracking.
  15. Thanks for the review. I remember Grumpy's Toys and Dyno Don, maybe Gapp & Roush from my youth. I'll probably get one of these and if they do a Pinto, will have it as well. I can live without all the perfect accuracy. Mine will be built to be seen on a shelf ina case - no opening panels. Any representation of an engine will work. It's all abou thte body and wheels really, in my world.
  16. THere are some rust decals on teh sheet with this kit. This is from the first release. I went back and darkened up the bottoms of all of them with some rust paint too. I'm not sure how well it "sells" the rust. Thanks for the compliments everyone.
  17. My wife is very understanding. She even gets involved occasionally. She's a good un. But does worry about what happens someday...
  18. I can't get used to these. Maybe soon. Nice models
  19. Every one I have has been easy to remove. They smear around a lot of you're not careful. But always seem to be pretty nice replicas.
  20. You guys are unreal. I am impressed.
  21. More work. The tie rod was a short shot or something. The ends at missing and it's completely chromed so it came like that. I glued it to the radius rods so it kinda looks like it's there. It's just as much work to make a weathered car. It's been fun though. Haven't had to worry about dust or fingerprints.
  22. I got in a few hours this morning before building got too hot to work in. The dang rust decals are just too light. Might touch them up a little more. Still got some weathering and wearing to do on parts. But I'm happy with it so far.
  23. That's cool when you can get it to work out.
