While the idea of EV's is great, I just can't get past the real world experiences I would expect. If I drive to San Francisco-110 miles each way-I'd expect that would use up a great portion of available range. Do I have to plan an extended recharge session on the way back home? Cooling my heels for an hour or 2 would have to be figured into a regular 4 hour trip. AND among other pleasures of living in California we have an idiotic and non-responsive utility company, one that siphoned off maintenance funds for executive pay and shareholder dividends. 2 years ago we had no power for 5 days because they couldn't guarantee that strong winds wouldn't cause their lines to fall down and start fires so they shut large sections of their service area down. How does one recharge a car at home even at 220 volts when you don't have power for extended periods of time? Great idea/iffy execution

Good news for a change...

Now I wonder if there will be a re-emergence of a domestic model kit industry. No, I'm not disregarding Atlantis and Round 2 but what with the supply chain issues will there be an upsurge in production in the US/Canada? And doesn't Round 2 have most of its production in China? -
Dodge Returning to NASCAR?!

The cars all look the same, the drivers all act the same (miss Tony Stewart and Dale). NA$CAR expects you to cheer for whatever sticker is pasted on the ends of the cars. And chopping the races into heats? I've got better things to do like washing the patio, re-arranging my sock drawer. -
What did you see on the road today?

Sports car cosplay? I saw one of the "hero" cars at the Petersen Museum. It looked very cobbled together. -
I know it was re-issued a few years ago (Scalemates says 2014) but I missed it or rather I never saw it. https://www.scalemates.com/search.php?fkSECTION[]=All&q=revell+datsun+510* I agree its due for another go-around. I've got a couple old decal sets from Penngwen with alternate colors for the BRE team cars that they used for "guest" drivers.

Rainy day & had to get out of the house. Drove down to Sonoma County CA with the intention of looking for migrating whales (too much wind from the weather system and couldn't have seen any spouts in any case). On the way we intended to stop at a fru-fru organic bakery in the hamlet of Freestone (Wild Flour Bread). A half mile short of the bakery I saw an original Avanti in Avanti Turquoise (wife really liked it but I had to inform her she was 60 years too late) followed by a Rolls-Royce Corniche in dark burgundy. But upon arrival at the bakery I was greeted with a 2005 Ford GT (white/blue stripes) and a crowd the likes of which I've never seen at the bakery. It seems a tour group had arrived 5 minutes before me and engulfed the place. At least 50+ people. All wearing ID badges saying they were part of "Legends of Motorsport" and had driven over from Napa Valley (naturally). Once I finally got my scones to take home I broke off for some photos. Porsche Carrera with the neatest luggage rack I've ever seen this side of a 60's VW Not one: but two McLaren 720s Not quite certain about this Porsche 356 but the engine cover was somewhat humped with a LOT of louvers giving it a fastback look. Carrera? Abarth? BMW Z8 And idling across the street from the Z8 was a BMW 3.0 CSL (just beautiful) Had to go up the street a bit to turn around on a side street and there is a classic... and parked behind it a Bentley convertible And to top it all off (no, not my Mustang on the other side of the road) Out of the picture to the left of the hot rod was the first Bentley Bentayga I'd ever seen. In black. No photos of that though All in all better than staying at home and watching football with teams I don't care about. -

Saw my first Porsche Taycan Turbo, in white. The only thing I recognized was the badge on the front hood. Very sleek looking but I saw it was rated at something like 200 miles on a charge. That's almost exactly the round trip distance to my nearest Porsche dealer. -
Michaels offering 40% off coupons again

Mine dumped models totally. I doubt the coupon would work for an online order. -

Herbie’s rocking a fake plate, though. Bad, bad Herbie -
Just some Plastruct sheet plastic. You think you have some and then you find out "No, you really don't".

Did Gunze own their own molds or did they lease and release kits by other makers? An awful lot of Gunze kits came out in other brands. Porsche 935 Moby Dick, Mustang II race car, Alfa Romeo GTV (THAT'S a kit I'd like to see again), Triumph TR-3, Bug-eye Sprite

C-8 Corvette, white with a "Brazzers" license plate frame. Couldn't tell if the driver was a principal or a consumer of said product. ? Also a Ferrari 458, likewise in white. I've seen them in Rosso Scuderia and Grigio Silverstone Metallic, never in Bianco Avus. Very distinctive after all the "Resale Red" Ferraris bouncing about. Corvette on US101 in Mendocino County CA and the Ferrari on US101 in Marin County, CA -
I've always been of the opinion that the SUV of today is the station wagon of the past; just with a less spacious rear area and also without the flabby suspension. Its just that "station wagon" has no panache and anything with "sport" as a description is automatically desirable. Trying to drag this back on topic, along with my desire for a limited reissue of the Fujimi Enthusiast line, I'd wish for Italeri to bring back their classic '60s Ferrari kits. 275GTB, 250SWB, 365GTB Daytona (most especially the competition model). I don't know why they haven't. There's not any real competition on the hobby shop shelves for them.

I recall them touting the Citation as viable competition or superior to the BMW 320i. I was even interested but after 6 months the horror stories began to trickle in... I wish Fujimi would shake loose some of their Enthusiast kits, especially the earlier 911s. "The tooling is paid for."

Wandered into a Michaels (not my mini local one-they’ve gotten rid of all models) and was looking for the new Revell Jaguar XKE. They had one a couple weeks ago but it was opened. But they had an unmolested Revell 1969 Boss 302. Priced at $23 about $6 lower than normal. With a quick 20% coupon on my phone I got it for pennies over $20 after tax. You can’t have enough Boss 302’s, amirite?

Audi R8 (GTR?) in red with black carbon fiber. If not this model it greatly resembled it. On US 101 about 100 miles north of San Francisco. Followed closely by a Lamborghini Huracan in Verde Mantis and both followed by a Porsche 928S in a pedestrian graphite grey.
