  1. Just looked on E-bay. Nothing today. This is very high on the wish list for me. May even get two.
  2. I REALLY like where this is going. Where did you get the tracks?
  3. Howdy, Brad and Chris I took a quick look for the Spaghetti Bender restoration article. I have lots of boxes of magazines, so it is not as simple as I thought. With that said, I did do an internet search and found some pics of the same car. It looks like its the company that did the restoration. Can't get a better source than that. Here is the link. http://www.precisionstreetrodsandmachines.com/Photo-Albums--1957-1966-.html If I have the time to sift through the boxes, i'll post in the reference section. Scott
  4. Chris, I seem to recall that either Street Rodder or Drag Racing magazine did an article on the restoration of a Spaghetti Bender. If you want to I see if I can find it. Welcome aboard, Gary. The pics are great! Scott
  5. I built these when I was a kid. I had to replace them as an adult. Hosted on Fotki Hosted on Fotki
  6. If I wanted to buy something built by someone else, it would be this... Hosted on Fotki Otherwise I would build one of my models in 1to1. Scott
  7. Right on the money, Alan! I look forward to seeing what you pull down from the shelf of doom. I have one or two there myself. Seems like a good idea for an article. Mike Turk was to first person to talk to me about making parts over and over until he was happy with them. (Light buuuulb!) Remember his chain drive Nash Metro? 80's pro-street to the extreme Even Clay Kemp talks about making parts more than once. We all start somewhere....Where we end up is a matter of choice.
  8. I don't have pictures, but I believe her.... My wife came home and told she saw the original (Barris) Batmobiile driving down the street. Grey haired guy with a cigar was driving it in Riverside, CA. Gotta love SoCal.
  9. This morning was the annual dog skunking. I guess it takes then one year to forget. At least j have the supplies on hand. Still stinks. Got to work after a second shower and they still smelled it. Went home and scrubbed the dogs and myself with the de-stink mix - again. Went back to work only to have them call me Pepe Lepew. Fun day.
  10. I'm a leftie too. Waiting for the mother ship to come get us. You can keep your stupid scissors.
  11. This is VERY cool, Ira. I always enjoy seeing what you will think of next.
  12. Wow. (Has that been said already?) Wow-zers! This is a great project. What a fun piece to look at. The tractor and farmer are excellent. The surfing pig is only equaled by the chicken with the strap on dorsal fin. Scott
  13. I don't have the talent to pull down the big awards at contests, but through trial and a good amount of error I can usually create the vision I have in my head. It helps me to draw it out. I am not a great artist either. That is where you see the talent come in. I have a few friends who are professional automotive artists. If you have ever seen a true artist draw it is an amazing show. Every once in a while a professional artist get the urge to build a model. I can usually spot it. There was one doing upgraded Deals Wheels on another site. Very nice stuff.
  14. Holy, smokes! This is amazing. I never thought paper could be used to that extent. The creativity and execution are off the charts. I'll be watching.
  15. Don, Period pictures are the best. Bet you wish you still had the Desoto. Excellent job on the Bently, skip. Some people have an early knack for building. Don, 90% of my models came from Sproutz Ritz. My parent would drop me off while they shopped at the Safeway next door. I did not mind looking at the models for as long as they needed. On another note, I think professor Slughorn was hiding in your house. ( Harry Potter reference.)
  16. "cranky old men on this board" Who you calling old? : ) 53 going' on 14 right here. Back to Troy - Think of the awesome parts! The engine form the Sniper or Biscayne would definitely be worth a second kit. And , chassis under the First Love is a show in itself. We can dream.
  17. Thanks for posting this. My vote is in. I went for the Eldo first only because there is nothing I can think of that is like that in scale. I am a huge Foose fan. I think I have seen all his creations in person. Maybe someday they will give Troy a shot too. Think rumbler, sniper. The LSR cuda. Scott.
  18. Steve. The unpainted double dragster is perfect! I remember it was all about decals and glue for a long time. Then brush paint and finally spray paint. Tom. That reminds me that I have some customized HO slot cars stashed somewhere. They did not run very well because of the weight. But they looked pretty cool. That falcon is excellent, Snake. Where did you get the purple haze decal?
  19. I have that. I is OK. Not one of my go-to books. Kind of a coffee table book. Gasser Wars is a better read and re-read for me. Also check out Heroes of Hot Rodding.
  20. Wow. It's been February since my last update. I'm going to school to be a teacher while I work my regular job. So time is not always there. I'm between semesters, so I got a little done. Here's the 1to1 wing. Note all the rod ends and the cool pattern in the paint. Following is how I replicated the structure. For the paint I am going to try scuffing bare metal foil before laying on the candy blue. Hosted on Fotki Note that little clevis joint that's not attached. Those became a pretty tedious part of the wing project. Hosted on Fotki The support bars are a mix of K&S aluminum tubing for the larger diameters bars, and stainless steel for the smaller bars. I did not want to mix metal types, but the brackets on the main bars had to be inset for strength. I had no way to cut the tiny receiver slot in the much harder stainless, so I went with aluminum. They do not make an aluminum rod in the smaller diameter, so I had to use the stainless for those rods. A very good polish will help the two metals have a similar shine. Hosted on Fotki The bolts are from Scale Hardware and the rod ends are from the tuner supply package on the far right. They are larger scale injector fittings that I flattened on both sides. The stems are a little thin so I had to add styrene sleeves to the aluminum rod. Luckily, that replicated the look of the real thing. Note the drill bit size is written on the package. The jamb nuts are hex styrene. Hosted on Fotki There was no easy way to replicate the clevis joints so I had to make 6 of them by hand. I started by using a fine miter saw to cut the slit in aluminum rod and then shaped the joint around that. Hosted on Fotki Ready to bolt in place. The actual wing started out as a Revell 70s dragster piece. The end plates are styrene. This entire assembly bolts together. Getting all the those bars to cooperate was not easy. Small dabs of liquid tape helped keep them in place while I bolted the other bars on. I used a piece of aluminum rod that was smushed over one of the bolt heads as a makeshift wrench. Hosted on Fotki And there it is in place. Hosted on Fotki Next is to complete the bed and get it mounted. Thanks for looking. Scott
  21. Over two years now. About a year ago, after many calls to the sheriff, we finally go one who said he would cite "Mick" for the blaring music. (It's a $500.00 fine to start and keeps going up. After the third fine, they arrest the person.) He stopped with the music and eventually the 7am chainsaw stopped. We do not talk to him or even look at him. About 6-8 months ago, he started back up again. We have no reason why. He is just nuts. We have called the cops on the music. Our back neighbor was also bothered by it as well. She thought it was us. (Remember acre lots!) The people behind us are good friends. They said they will call too. That's good because the sheriff said if the same person calls it just looks like a feud. Last weekend "Mick" parks an idling diesel front loading tractor right on the fence line. He goes inside and lets it ideal for an hour from 9am to 10pm. I've go good footage of that, I also have lots of footage of him running a gas leaf blower on the dirt, outside the window, on clean, leaf free dirt while at the back of his lot is a huge pile of actual leaves. I am collecting all the footage I can. Hopefully a few more neighbors will join in on this so we can get this wacko to stop. Where is karma when you need it!
