Oh, at 1.3 Billion you take home 600 million. Good times. Maybe I'll get me one of these babies. http://www.privateislandsonline.com/

Here is the best explanation of what it like to be rich that I have ever seen. A little long but a good read.

Yep - For that kind of money you can turn models into real cars.

Is this too many models
Scott Colmer replied to gray07's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
Those are some nice collections. I think the difference between hoarders and collectors is shelving. : ) Unfortunately most of mine had to be packed into boxes. When they were in a storage shed a rat made a nest in one of then boxes. Luckily it was mostly old plaques. At my last house I had a termite attack. They had a real taste for decals. How they found the one Mercedes kit that I bought just for the decals, I'll never know, Hosted on Fotki -

Hmmm. Pete, I think I may have been to your friend's house up in Nor Cal. An unbelievable collection. The nicest guy. I still have a kit I bought from him. -
Way back in the late 70's, when I was in high school, I started saving cereal toys (Premiums). Most came from Capt'n Crunch and Cookie Crisp. The idea was that I would give to my kids later on in life. As it worked out, I missed raising kids that would have been of the age to appreciate the little prizes that were kept in an old NGK trade show bag. I had pretty much forgotten about it until the other day when my brother in law was helping get the garage straightened out. There was the bag in with a bunch of model stuff. He has kids 3 and 7 so I gave it to him. After a while he gave it back saying he would rather not pick up the mess it would make. Then my wife said she would take it for her elementary school students. However, when she looked through the bag she had such a rush of nostalgia that she decided to keep them. She tossed the bag in the laundry room. I picked it up tonight and started researching the value of what was in there. I found a glow in the dark Capt'n Crunch skeleton that was going consistently for 20.00 on eBay out of the wrapper. I found 5 in the wrapper. That was best set. I just finished going through the entire bag. It was a lot of fun using the internet to track down the origin of a lot of the toys. At full e-bay prices it was about 500 bucks worth of toys. If I get 250, I'll be happy. Cool!

Just saw it today in 3D. It was amazing. I agree that they did a great job of using the old characters to introduce the new. I could not believe how fast the story went by. I was still wanting more when it was over. I am still on the fence on the believability of the new masked villan. We have a new luxury theater near us. We sat in pre-assigned leather recliners. Best movie experience I can remember ever. Oh and it was less expensive that the AMC that we usually go to. Go figure.

Those who love rebuild old model kits
Scott Colmer replied to Nova-ss's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
I have to add in... All of these examples posted here are truly great models. The fact that they come from such "challenging" beginnings makes them all the more impressive. Mark - Yep. True to this thread, it's the only way I could afford to replace the MM I had when I was young. The repo decals are out there. The only part I am missing is the blue tinted rear window. I am still trying to figure out how to recreate that. Oh, the gas gas pedal/ body actuator is missing too. I am pretty sure can make that. Scott -
Beautiful! It is interesting how this looks just right. Stance is dead on. Great job!

I went back and found a pic of my junkyard To-Dos. Some of these are gone now. It was fun to look at them again. Hosted on Fotki -

Hi Chris, I am with you on saving glue bombs. It's a cheap way to get a rare car. I've purchased a few junkyard lots that had hidden gems. I also like the struggle of trying to save parts, locating parts, and recreating parts. It's can fun saving someone else's custom creation too. It's like doing a scale restoration. I think the worst glue bomb I have trued to save is an Ivo Streamliner. Some parts were fused together. They had to be cut free. The trick was determining which part was going to win if one had to go. Scott -
Modeler in Thailand?
Scott Colmer replied to Olderisbetter's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
About 6 years ago, Nathan Sills commented on my Fotki page. He was a great Nor Cal modeler. He was living in Bangkok at the time. I am not sure he builds anymore. This is one of his. Hosted on Fotki -
Henry J Twin Turbo - Didn't see that coming..........

That bracket and the whole assembly is stunning. Been following this one since the beginning. Beautiful work. I'm always looking for the next installment. Just amazing. What did you use for the coiled wires running from the wheel? I wound my own once, but the wire was not flexible enough to turn with the wheel. I have not been able to find a working substitute. Thanks Scott -
Great upgrades. I also had no idea about that body being so off base.

Great design! I remember when I first saw a picture of that one. It is one of those models you see once and never forget.

Wow! Lots of great touches on this one! Looks like you had a great year.

I gotta do one more. This thread caused me to look for this song. Still a good play after I having not heard it for at least 20 years. Reminds me of a girl I knew at that time who looked good but had a hard time being happy. Let that one go. Sorry about the people talking over the song in the video. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KQb8UN1KMfY

The nights the lights went out in Georgia by Vicki Lawrence. Extra points if you can name each character and what they did. It took me and my wife an hour to figure it all out. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ukhfhUHtD0g
