  1. And to further muddy the waters, here's a real-deal, well-documented, survivor, authentic, original paint Yenko with the fake vents but without the other moldings. One of these days I'm going to model this car but removing those moldings is gonna be tough. SS350s and SS396s got the fake vents whether or not they had the rest of the Z21 trim group and this car was built from an body intended to be an SS396 (it has the rear panel blackout but the lower rocker blackout was painted over). I think the way Revell did it is the most attractive combination and seems to be very common on Z/28s, whether it's correct or not. I wonder if a lot of the non-Z21 cars got the wheel and drip rail moldings at the dealership? Revell's stance does need some tweaking, especially in the back. I think it's too low all the way around.
  2. Total trash!!! Throw it out!!! I'll make sure they're disposed of properly if anyone wants to send theirs my way. Does it share some lineage with the Sunny kit, perhaps?
  3. I have a Paasche D3000R. It's got a tank and auto-shutoff. Pretty quiet. Small and portable. I bought it off Amazon for around $150. Hardware store compressors are LOUD. .
  4. It's from an AMT '63 Galaxie promo. photos from eBay.
  5. Yup. They're definitely an orangey-red Later on in the 90's they switched to gray like everybody else.
  6. This run was 3,000, that's the normal size of most Model King runs these days.
  7. This kit's a great source for a Chevy big-block with an automatic.
  8. This is the only underhood shot I could find, looks like that's the way it is:
  9. Do they need to be mounted on a frame, or can I just send in loose parts?
  10. The Duntov test car is actually a 53 body on a modified 54 frame, not that it makes any difference in scale. It was the test mule for fitting V-8's into the '55s and with the modifications it basically has a 55 frame. i don't know what the holes in the front are for, stockers don't have them. Probably for some sort of airdam or something attached during testing.
  11. I have one. It has it where it counts. Body shape is bang on, wheel and tire size is bang on, stance right out of the box is bang on. Only thing that jumps out at me is the headlights aren't quite right and it's going to be hard to get the LED "boomarang" looking right and I wish more of the black vents and tail panel were separate. And I much prefer this approach over the AMT Camaro with its 37-piece rear suspension and too-high stance.
  12. As long as it's not a Hemi they're fine.
  13. Meh, not really. The only 69 coupe that had the L-88 hood was the last issue, the 2005 California Wheels version. It's been a lot longer since we got the standard big block hood and I don't think it's ever been molded in white. Pretty sure very boxing of the 68 Convertible has the L-88 hood. It would have been nice since no kit that's come with the ZL1 stripe ever had the parts to build the 1 known ZL1 coupe though. I'm more bummed it doesn't have the street machine parts from the 68 vert 2 in 1 (blower & small-block hood). It's also possible they goofed and drew the Baldwin Motion hood and it's actually the L88 they do show the seal for the cowl induction being installed and I'm not even sure you can on the BM hood.
  14. The old Revell M4 might have been labeled 1/40 to tie it into the other Adams/Revell kits but it scales out to 1/35. Scale is the least of that kit's problems.
  15. Under a different light I was sure the Blue Metallic was a dead match for Lemans but it does also look pretty close to Nassau. I think a 50/50 mix with the blue Pearl might be the ticket. Normally I'd just order some Scalefinishes or MCW or whatever but for some reason I've got an itch to do an old-school Testors enamel paint job. I haven't done a Testors paint job in nearly 30 years.
  16. this is (L-R) Blue Metallic, Blue Pearl and Artic Blue. The Blue Metallic is more of a silvery-blue. It's hard to tell looking at pics, sometimes Lemans Blue looks more intense blue sometimes it looks more silvery. I have a set of 69 GM paint chips to compare them to I just haven't gotten around to it. (The artic blue is to try to find a match for 70 Bridgehampton Blue)
  17. Instructions for the <air quotes> Yenko </air quotes> 69 Corvette are up on Revell's site. Looks like all the parts (hood, side pipes, 5-spoke wheels) from the Baldwin Motion version are in there as a 2nd building option, plus a the L-88 intake and air cleaner and ZL1-style stripe decals. Pretty much an L-88 hood away from a 3-in-1 that could build just about any big-block 69.
  18. Was originally built by Coddington from a Foose design. Apparently a lot of stuff was left off in order to make the deadline for delivery to the customer. Then new owner asked Foose to build it the way he originally intended it.
  19. HobbyTyme must have old info, it's definitely not coming this month. This month's cars are the RX-7, "Yenko" Corvette, plus RoG's McLaren 570s and their boxing of the Corvette C7.R.
  20. Previous Foose kits: "It's just stock with Foose wheels, I can't build the actual Foose vehicle!!" Foose F100 & EldoRod: "I have to build the actual Foose vehicle, I want to build it stock!!"
  21. Of course, right after I just dropped $40+ for a Model King Bonner T-Bolt on eBay they bring it back out with those decals! I hope they do proper striped fabric seat decals for the rear seat. It's been a while since they did one with actual real T-Bolt markings And there's the stock Charger and Torino we knew were coming The Star Destroyer is the really nice one Zvezda came out with a few months back
  22. I don't plan on taking pre-orders for them so I haven't made a listing for them yet. I'll list them under whatever they say on the package. Round 2 uses the MKA prefix for their Star Trek decal sheets I guess that's why they're listed as Polar Lights.
  23. Those would be the parts pack decal sets they were taking suggestions for a couple months ago. No idea why Stevens has them listed under Polar Lights.
  24. Harry was good, but I don't think even he could have made the old 1/24 look that good. It's definitely the newer-tool 25th scale.
