  1. Start of a new project- Revell's Model A but with a 427 Ford instead of the nailhead. Front end will be lower by raising the front crossmember spring perch and possibly removing a leaf in the front spring. Color is Testors gunmetal- very dark slatey blue which will be dull coated after a little sanding. Frame an bottom of floor pans will be the same. Also using a chopped Deuce grille from Replicas and Miniatures.
  2. Finally done- now I have to figure out where to display it dust free! Maybe in the barristers bookcase................
  3. Truck, boat and trailer done! Teaser pic! More pix in under glass! Tim, please continue posting your progress here since this has become an enjoyable shared thread of info, pix and great ideas!
  4. First of all, build them how you like! I personally like either no fenders or cycle fenders attached to the axles front and rear, not attached to the rear body, but that's just me. How about a well equipped flathead? Or are you going for a more updated engine? Remember, true hot rods have three pedals......................
  5. Tim, I just noticed you live in Vermont- I'm a transplanted Yankee who grew up in Gloucester, Massachusetts. Encouragement is a big part of this hobby- thanks, Tim Boyd!
  6. Tim, your woodworking skills blow me away, and that prop is great- I used fishing lure spinner propellers superglued together and tweeked the blade angles. Are the engines 3D printed? They look awesome already- can't wait to see them finished! The woodwork on the Chevy is amazing- all those curves- more even than the boat! This combo will be stunning! Keep up the great craftsmanship!
  7. More progress on the trailer! storage box finished, and some of the rollers installed. Air hoist, compressor, and rear roller nearing completion, soon to be installed. A few nautical goodies including a dinghy, surf boards and scuba tanks. More pix when I get more done!
  8. Time to move this up again- lots of great A's built since which would be great additions!
  9. Rusty, a lot of speed boats from the 20's and 30's had metal or metal sheathed prows, which I have replicated here. A couple of reference pix:
  10. Tim, thanks for the encouragement- working on the trailer now!
  11. Gary, that is exactly what it is! Thanks to everyone for the comments. Never did anything like this before- just start with PT boat, throw in hot rod parts, some Duesenberg, shaken not stirred, and you get the Poodle Too.
  12. Finished! Teaser here, much more in all the rest, in finished. Jessica, the owner, seems to approve!
  13. I am eagerly following this project! Flatheads do sit low, one solution is to add Ardun heads!
  14. Where is that engine from? It is spectacular!
  15. Low and level looks great. Personally, I don't think rakes do much for customs.
  16. Beautiful planking job! Please post more pix as you make progress!
  17. Great job on your adjustments! I would for sure have messed up the paint, but your tweeks perfect an already clean simple build. This is an inspirational model for what can be done with a simple kit.
  18. Excellent chop job! Those 1930's tall turret tops just beg to be lowered! I always like to lower the rear just a tad more than the front- makes it more sleek and blends a bit better with the rear deck.
  19. Looking forward to more, and thanks for the pix of other hot rod Lincolns!
  20. Great idea! Waste not want not, and look what happens!
  21. Progress! Built, painted, and installed the control levers for the forward, neutral, and reverse gear box (seen in the engine windscreen pix). Was able to get a nice windshield built, now in the process of applying Molotow chrome (pic shows the windshield upside down). Also am fabricating deck mooring cleats from rod stock, got two of them Molotowed as well. Cut out the "glass" for the engine windscreen and cut the openings in the lower section. These are ordinary card stock, folded to shape. Upper section yet to be cut, will sandwich the transparent stock between them after giving both a Molotow bath!
  22. No seat belts, and those crash helmets wouldn't help much! A bit hard on the spine in ripply water as well! But what magnificent machinery!
