Centerline Convo pro wheels?
Force replied to KENNEDYJR's topic in Car Aftermarket / Resin / 3D Printed
They are from the Revell "Soff Seal" 57 Chevy, "Jukebox Ford" 55 Ford and "Christine" 58 Plymouth Pro Sportsman kits, the "Charles Carpenter" 55 Chevy had Boyds wheels instead of these Centerline Convo Pro wheels. The Soff Seal 57 and Carpenter 55 Chevy kits has been reissued with generic decals. -
The 50 has a fuel door on the drivers side quarter panel and the 49 do not as it has a visible fuel cap.

Very nice model!

The first kits of the 1/24 1964-5-6 Mustang kits above was released in 1985, one year before Revell and Monogram was bought by Odessey Partners Of New York in 1986 and was merged into one company, but Revell and Monogram lived on as separate brands until 1996-7 when all the models from them were released under both names, later the Monogram name was dropped and all Revell and Monogram models were branded Revell...the Monogram name was later re-instated for some models by Hobbico who now owns the brands. The largest problem for those who try to keep up with the origins of model kits is that there are nothing to tell what the model kits originally was as they could be issued under any of the two names regardless of origin...but one rule of thumb is that Revell never did any 1:24th scale kits as they used the 1:25th scale, Monogram on the other hand did most of their kits in that scale...so if the kit is in 1:24th scale it's originally a Monogram kit, some late Monogram kits were also released in 1:25th scale...but that was after the Odessey buy and the companys merged into one.

Revell '64 Ford Fairlane Thunderbolt Kit Parts Review
Force replied to hpiguy's topic in Car Kit News & Reviews
Mark is right, the 1962-65 Fairlane was not built on the Falcon/Mustang platform, the 1962-63 Mercury Meteor is the only other car with the same chassis. I had a 1964 Fairlane 500 Sports Coupe for 12 years and sold it last year, so I know that it isn't much from the Falcon/Mustang chassis that fits these Fairlanes.- 28 replies

Tyrone Malone Super Boss
Force replied to truckabilly's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
I appreciate the work you have done Aaron, I really do...and I'm grateful that you had a large part in the re-issue of the Malone trucks so we can get them for reasonable prices, even tho' I had two each of the original kits I bought the new ones anyway, and I'm eagerly waiting for the Bandag Bandit and Hideout Truck. I can only go by what I have seen in the pictures I have as I unfortunately never have seen any of the trucks in person, I have saved every picture I have found so far of the Malone trucks, and I still do when I find pictures I don't have, as I have allways thought the Malone trucks were cool. Most of the pictures are saved from the Tyrone Malone Facebook site and Ken Harris Fotki albums and some from magazines and other places, but I have not found any good pictures of the interior from when Malone had it other than some parts of it. Today's interior in the Super Boss may be close to what Malone had but there are some small differences after what I can see in the old pictures I have compared to the Reis version, the door panels and dash top are two examples where there are differences between then and now. The interior I described in my earlier post in this thread was the early Bandag Bandit interior before the cab change, the first interior in the Bandit was blue, white and yellow and the second one wich the truck still has is all black...the Super Boss interior has allways been black as far as I know. I miss one decal on the decal sheet in the new Super Boss kits, and it wasn't on the old ones either. After "Tyrone Malone" script on the small lip above the "Bandag The Greatest Name In Retreading" decal that goes between the tail lights it should also be a "Mr D.D.D." script but it's missing. On most of the pictures I have the "Mr D.D.D." script is present, both on the 1974-78 Thermo King version and the 1979-88 Bandag version wich the kit is supposed to be. -
It looks like the rear wheels from the Super Boss or Bandag Bandit kits, the first issue of the Super Boss kit came second half of 1978, 40 years ago next year. These whees are correct for the Papa Truck and Hideout Truck from the 1980's era before Malone changed to tubeless 2-hole Budd wheels...but as I said, the model kits of the transporters has allways had 10-hole Alcoa's.

1960 Starliner Engine Color?
Force replied to David G.'s topic in Model Building Questions and Answers
Yes it would. The 406 was a one year only engine, from 1962½ to 1963½ when the 427 came out. The 2 'n 1 60 Starliner kit, wich is a combination of the previous factory stock and custom kits, is a gold mine for FE parts, you get two complete engines with three different sets of valve covers, you get several hi-perf parts so you can do a 352-427 single quad engine, a 390-406 triple deuce engine or a dual quad 427, you get short 390Hi-Perf/406 cast iron headers and a set of long 427 cast iron headers, you also get the best 9 inch rear end I have seen so far and a very nice chassis wich can be used to upgrade the 63 and 64 Galaxies. For engine colors, Ford started to paint the engine blocks, heads and intake manifold black in 1959, the air cleaners and valve covers are different colors depending on engine version, the all Ford blue engines came in 1966. -
Cool.

We have a gross weight of 64 metric tonnes (70.55 US short tons) allowed on most highways here in Sweden and soon they will allow 74 tonnes (81.57 US short tons) on some of them. The most common combinations for hauling freight or logs here are a straight truck 3 axle with a dual drive rear bogie or 3 axle single drive with a tag axle bogie, a few are 8X4 with one steer axle and dual drive with a tag axle bogie, and a tag along trailer with 2 axles in front and 2 axle spread bogie or 3 axles at the rear and they are total length of 24 meters and 2.6 meters wide, and all of the EU 25.25 meter combinations...but as I said up to 32 meter truck/trailer combinations are discussed for the future and are tried in some places right now. Many trucks here have a 8 or 9 tonne steer axle, maximum 11.5 tonnes weight for a single drive single axle, for a dual drive or single drive/tag axle air ride bogie on a truck you can have a weight of 19 metric tonnes (18 with leaf springs), for a 3 axle bogie you can have 24 tonnes, on the tag along trailer the front 2 axles can have 16 tonnes (10 if it's only 1 axle), if the rear 2 axles are together you can have a max weight of 16 tonnes and if the 2 axle are a spread bogie you can have 20 tonnes, if you have a 3 axle rear bogie it's maximum 24 tonnes, the rear axle combination weights are the same for a semi trailer. But you can't exceed the maximum gross weight for the truck/trailer combination even if you have axle combinations that can handle more weight, the total length and distance between axles are also a factor when you are calculating how much you can load,

Nice model Dave. I agree with you Túlio, I like the Fairlane Victoria better than the Crown Victoria...and the Customline Victoria Coupe even more as it's quite rare, it was 1956 only and just over 33 000 vehicles made.

The main reason for the kingpin placement and cabover trucks is the length regulations in most European countries, if the kingpin is further back the front of the trailer comes closer to the cab of the truck and you can have that much longer trailer and still keep it within the regulations, the bogie of the trailer is mounted closer to the center so it woun't cut the corners as much as it would do with the bogie further back. For trucks with semi trailer the maximum length is16 meters and 50 centimeters (54 feet 1½ inches) from the front bumper of the truck to the rearmost part of the trailer and for straight trucks with tag along trailer it's 18 meters and 75 centimeters (61 feet 6 inches), there are some exceptions to the rule tho'. I live i Sweden and we together with Finland have the longest truck/trailer combinations allowed in Europe, our combinations can be up to 25 metres and 25 centimeters (82 feet 10 inches) as we speak and longer combinations are under consideration...up to 32 meter (just over 104 feet) combinations has been discussed.

Nice model. Tommy is a great guy, I met and talked with him for a while at the NHRA Museum the week before his 80th birthday in April last year, they were prepairing for his birthday bash party held there.

In the Nitro and Alcohol classes you don't have to follow brand and use engines from the same brand as the body, the Hemi design works well, both Donovan and Keith Black made Hemi's in aluminum and they were an instant hit with the Nitro and Alcohol racers when they became available, the Donovan engine was based on the earlier 392 design and Keith Black used the later 426 design. But in the 70's and early 80's some racers used Chevy Big Block, Arias, McGee Quad Cam, Ford Boss 429 and 427 SOHC so everybody didn't use the Hemi. Nowadays there is only one engine design allowed in the NHRA Nitro classes and it's the 426 Hemi so you can't use anything else, and 500 cui is the upper limit for engine displacement, John Force Racing did a "Ford Boss 500" engine but it looks pretty much like the the other 426 based Hemi's, the JFR engine has some internal changes tho'...mostly reinforcements inside the block. As for magnetos, they have been around for a long time and has been used in aviation almost since the very beginning, a magneto generates it's own power and you don't need a battery or any other source of power for the engine to run...as long as you can get the engine started it will run until it gets out of fuel or you shut it off.

Looking good.

Revell Kenworth K100 Aerodyne - 2017 release
Force replied to steve1970's topic in Truck Kit News & Reviews
Yes it is, the only thing different between the K100 and K100 Aerodyne except for the decals is the roof section, the rest is exactly the same.
