Yeah, and the roof too Notice the literal bucket seats? ? I may be inspired to try something similar on my own since I doubt we'll see a reissue

Anyone happen to have one of these in their stash to show the unique parts vs the Surf Woody? Looks like I may have finally found a way to use one of my Surf Woody kits

Identify these resin bodies
Mr. Metallic replied to 68shortfleet's topic in Car Aftermarket / Resin / 3D Printed
Hard to tell from the angle, but the woody kinda looks like the one offered by Jimmy Flintstone. If that it the case there should be a floorboard piece as well. Maybe some more pics would help identifying it. -
Vintage Revell Parts Packs -complete set
Mr. Metallic replied to Rocking Rodney Rat's topic in Car Kit News & Reviews
While that may have been true then, I think they should revisit the idea (but obviously not reissue the engines they did recently) The concept still works for parts packs, look at how much fun Round2 is having with them. If they weren't selling they wouldn't keep introducing new ones, even spending new tooling dollars on some. Please Revell, reconsider! -
Thought I'd bump this since I stumbled across it today. Below is the link to it. I've been "searching" for this post for a long time(by searching I mean sitting wondering if it was really worth the effort to search for it since I had no idea who the OP was, and searching for chopped 49 Merc was probably going to turn up tons of posts) So, now I've bookmarked it so I can repeat Matt's "unchopping" procedure and actually build one of these. I've accumulated quite a few of these in the 10+ years since it was released, simply for the treasure trove of parts they hold, but never actually built one Would still love to locate one of those beautifully done resin wagons that are based on this tooling. Here's one built by Tom Kren. Anyone have one they would part with???

remember the AMT "Iron Horse" Mustang?
Mr. Metallic replied to 62rebel's topic in Car Kit News & Reviews
There is at least 1 more variant of this tooling, the Autolite Special. I think it's the rarest, but could be wrong -
Mike, gotta say it again, this thing is stellar. What you did with a simple wheel and tire swap and a little detailing just makes this thing sooooo cool. So cool in fact, that it inspired me to build something similar. I had this idea rattling around in my head for awhile, but your build tripped my trigger, so to speak.

Just a note, depending on where you're headed with this build. if you're looking for accuracy of the body, perhaps you should start with the Revell 32 roadster body. The AMT body has the look of being wedge sectioned ahead of the front door line, curving up quite dramatically. I know the original AMT '32 kits from the early 60's are classics, but the bodies in the cowl area just are not accurate. But if you're just looking for fun, then build away!

The 29 roadster and 30 coupe were designed so the engines were interchangeable depending on which parts you use. So I don't think there's a need to worry that we're getting the 29 reissued with the Chevy. I bet when the 30 hits the market again is has the Nailhead (which I agree is infinitely cooler)

Man, this came out great. The improvements you made don't really jump out, which is a compliment to your craftsmanship. Just a cool model, built really well.

Site Update Complete
Mr. Metallic replied to Dave Ambrose's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
Looks good. Only thing I miss right now is the arrow on the right side of the screen that lets me scroll to the top of the page quickly. -
Thanks for the insight. I was thinking it was one solid chrome piece, and I didn't remember seeing that in the kit before. Makes sense now that it's a body colored piece with a chrome insert. I'll have to keep my eye out for one of those pieces...

Foose Cadillac Body
Mr. Metallic replied to Freeman Cars's topic in Car Aftermarket / Resin / 3D Printed
I've seen lots of activity from Freeman Cars on eBay lately, and I keep looking to see one of these pop up. Obviously Sam is busy casting, hopefully this body is next. -
I know it's not the typically favored 1/25 scale, but I thought the Revell 1/16 34 3window and Phaeton were hailed as pretty accurate models, so much so that people often wish out load that Revell would scale them down to 1/25 kits. I've got a 3window and am inching ever closer to actually building it. Still crossing my fingers that Revell gives us an all new 1/25 33/34 after they are done reviving the 29/30 A tooling mess.

SOME CURRENT ROUND 2 INFO TODAY...
Mr. Metallic replied to AC Norton's topic in Car Kit News & Reviews
Well, I've been casually eyeballing 40 sedans on eBay for awhile now, and was inching closer to pulling the trigger. Would still like to have an original issue, if I can find one for a decent price, but this fresh edition will work for me, especially with the usual Round2 goodies thrown in. -
Thanks guys. So the additions are the beautiful tires (can always use more of those), the decals and the mini-box? Dave, did you say a straight axle? Cool! Jon, thank you so much for the pics. I have an older issue of this kit, but with a 40% at Hobby Lobby I just might pick up another.

I searched through the last 2 years of the Kit Reviews section and couldn't find a review of this kit. Just wondering what's in the box of this most recent reissue by Round2. I know they usually add new goodies/open the gates to give us long missing parts. I also tried the search function and didn't come up with much. Thanks

Just illustrates how a change in rolling stock can really change any vehicle. This is one of the nicest builtups of this kit I've seen.

Revell Foose '48 Cadillac de-Foosed
Mr. Metallic replied to Perspect Scale Modelworks's topic in WIP: Model Cars
Is the Model Master paint you refer to the Testors enamel? I don't recall that light purple available in their lacquer line(but I could be wrong). Combining that with the Tamiya pearl clear, which I'm pretty sure is a lacquer, could be the issue. I know the Tamiya and Testors lacquers have a reputation for being relatively mild, but that could be your problem. Also, the wait time between coats could be the issue as someone else mentioned. I usually don't go more than 10 minutes between coats of the Testors/Tamiya lacquers, or wait several days(overnight in a dehydrator). You can go from color to clear in that same time frame. Also, the Testors/Tamiya lacquers, I've used them in conjunction with each other many, many times with no issues, as long as you stay within those spray parameters. I hope you can work out the paint issue because that color looks very classy on your build. -
Man, those wheels and tires are sweet. And that chop is really nicely done. I'm following
