  1. Looking forward to this Helmut, you can do it and I'm sure it will look great when finished. I have a couple of other articles if you would like me to photograph them and send to you. Haven't got a scanner, sorry. If you want any help just ask Dave B
  2. Ok, made the wheels. Rims are some I cast in resin some time back, centres are from an old Japanese kit but with the back sanded away so you can see through the spokes and tyres are resin printed from the file. As they have turned out reasonable I've decided to open up the engine bay. It won't be hinged, just lift off. My mate has printed the glass moulds for the P68 so until I get them off him I'll work on this. Dave B
  3. Tks Helmut, I always use auto acrylics, the red is just pure red and the gold a mate gave me because I asked for some!! It's a lovely bright gold, he gave me about 250ml, said he didn't want it anymore. Dave B
  4. Getting there. Still waiting on the glass moulds so I can clean them up and vacform. Also have to add exhausts, some minor ancillaries, clean up body, clear coat and polish. Dave B
  5. Looks great Pierre, well worth the extra effort you put in. Dave B
  6. I bought this file at the same time as the P68. It was a much better buy, value for money. The body, chassis, interior and roll cage are really good but the wheels are BLAH_BLAH_BLAH_BLAH. While I'm waiting for the decals and glass moulds to finish the P68 I've started cleaning this up and looking for a suitable alternative wheel to fit inside the printed tyre. Lengthened the chassis marginally to correct the fit and done a fair bit of work around the interior/roll cage to make it fit the chassis. I've also found an alternative BBS type wheel that I'm playing with. Now I've got to work out what goes between the interior and the panel that mounts the DFV. It's a fair gap and it actually does exist on the real thing but photos of this area, especially the 4th version that this file represents, are few and far between. It also needs to hide where I lengthened the chassis, senior moment when I did that!! Anyway tks for looking. Dave B
  7. Nice build Damien, tks for sharing. Dave B
  8. Great looking build Damien, looking forward to seeing more from you. Dave B
  9. Yes, I'm only using my phone for WIP builds and I feel the phone distorts the image. I use my digital camera when posting Under Glass. Dave B
  10. That's looking exceptional Pierre, congratulations. Dave B
  11. Getting there, the body is about where I want it. The mock up is sitting a little low but I couldn't resist posting it on wheels. Dave B
  12. Basically got the body where I want it, it will be Frank Gardner's car as raced at Spa. Hope to start painting soon. Also waiting for Patto to get back from his break for the decals. Dave B
  13. Hi Helmut, they wouldn't be a bad option but the best, and what I should have done, is to mould a Porsche 917 centre and fit that to an appropriate rim/tyre. I was out of resin and couldn't be bothered buying a pack just to do 4 centres. I just don't do much resin casting these days. Dave B
  14. Wheels are done and just when I think I've finished with the body I find something else to do!! More work around the rear now I have deepened it. Dave B
  15. I've decided to bite the bullet on the body. The rear needs deepening so I'm going to cut along the pencil line and add around .040" of extra depth. I'll play it by ear a bit until it looks right to me. The rear tail light area is definitely too shallow!! Dave B
  16. Ok, have finished the interior and now it at least resembles that of the P68. I'm pretty happy with it considering what I started with. I've included water pipe, gear shift linkage, correct style seats, seat belt and corrected the gauge layout in the dashboard. I've now started on the body in ernest and also started looking at the C100 I bought at the same time and my mate printed for me. Dave B
  17. Great looking builds Rich, you obviously have too much space at home to display your built kits!! Dave B
  18. Getting on with the wheels. Bottom left shows one with the spokes raised, bottom right hasn't had the spokes raised. The flat styrene has been bevelled to form the spoke being higher near the rim. The rotors/calipers are out of my printed stash. Won't be perfect but better than no wheel at all, or the wrong wheel. Dave B
  19. Seats made, at least they resemble the real thing and tiny steering wheel removed and one from the parts box found to replace it. Have made 1 wheel centre and I'm happy with it, better than none! Dave B
  20. Looking great Pierre, especially the wheels. A fictitious finish, this I've got to see, hope you're feeling OK!!! Dave B
  21. Starting on the wheels. Went through what I had and found a set of Pantera Gp5 wheels and tyres from a cheap Jap rendition. Rim size and tyres look pretty good so I've cut out the centres and about to consider alternatives for the centres, short of making them. Luckily I had some cast resin knockoffs that will look good. Dave B
  22. Update time. I had already added the large rear vent, correct engine cover tray and scribed the rear body panel when originally posted. Photos show where I have depended the body sides and reduced tuck in, filled in top of side windows and windscreen as they were too rounded. Interior wise I had already discarded the 50's bucket seats and I have now made a frame for my GT40 style drivers bucket seats and plain passengers. I wondered what to make the seat face out of and remembered my vacform box had small round indentations. Put in some .010" styrene and it should work. Being the eternal optimist I have also found some appropriate 3 eared knockoffs for the wheels!! Body looks slightly distorted as I used phone. It's not. Dave B
  23. This looks great assembled, my mate has it although his is Wills Finecast, same kit, different name. Looking forward to seeing yours finished as my mate is a rather hasty builder!! Dave B
  24. Pretty sure they still do, expensive but nice! It wouldn't be a challenge either. Dave B
